Following his MSc in Health Economics at York, Alec worked for 5 years at the Royal Free Medical School, London. His main work/thesis project was on a study assessing the cost-effectiveness of different treatments for people with clotting factor disorders. He then worked at NICE as a Technical Advisor and as honorary Research Fellow at Brunel University, before joining the London School for Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) in 2006. At LHSTM, Alec worked as Associate Professor in Health Economics. He was a member of NICE's Technology Appraisals Committee between 2007 and 2015, and also a member of its Decision Support Unit (DSU). He was an external examiner for the MScs in Health Economics & Health Policy, and Health Economics and Econometrics at the University of Birmingham (2017–2020). Since joining Source in 2022, Alec has been strategic advisor on a number of projects, including HTA submissions to NICE, and chaired several advisory boards and mock committee meetings.

David Eatwell is the head of Porterhouse Insights, a global healthcare strategic insights agency. The agency provides support across the developmental life cycle, specialising in early asset development, advanced research methodologies, and multi-disciplinary solutions through its network of connected SCIRIS healthcare agencies. David holds degrees in Chemistry and Management from Imperial College London, and spent a brief moment working in the lead synthesis laboratories at Novartis before beginning his career in strategic pharmaceutical insights. 

He has spent time at a range of agencies, including Double Helix, Consulting at McCann Health (where he headed the quantitative centre of excellence), and Lumanity before joining Porterhouse Insights in 2001. He specialises in advanced research methodologies and early strategic insights.
