Emily Waner
Emily Waner played basketball at the University of Colorado in 2003-2004 before transferring to Duke where she played from 2005-2008 and was a member of the 2006 Final Four team. She then went on to attend Duke Medical School, completed her residency at the University of Washington, and now works as a Hospitalist in the Denver area. She talks about growing up in Highlands Ranch, Colorado, coming from a very athletic family, how she got into basketball, playing AAU for the Colorado Hoopsters, and her outstanding high school career at Thunderridge where she won the 2003 State Championship with her sister, Abby. Emily describes her recruiting process, why she chose Colorado, and her Freshman season there. She then explains her decision to transfer, wanting to play at the same school as her sister, and their decision to go to Duke. She discusses her career at Duke, what it was like playing with her sister, making the 2006 Final Four, deciding on a career in medicine, attending medical school, doing her residency in Washington state, and her decision to come back to the Denver area.
