Chad Toliver

Bridget B.

Chad Toliver is a professional lacrosse player who most recently played for the Boston Barrage in Major League Lacrosse in 2020, and collegiately played at Rutgers from 2015-2018.  He talks about growing up in Atlanta, Georgia, how he got into lacrosse, and what it's like to be a black athlete playing a predominantly white sport.  Chad describes his high school career at McCallie School for the first 3 years, why he transferred to Milton High School for his Senior year, and his excellent lacrosse and football career at both schools.  He discusses his decision to pursue lacrosse instead of football in college, the recruiting process, why he chose Rutgers, playing in the Big Ten, and his career highlights at Rutgers.  Chad then talks about playing professionally in the MLL, coaching high school lacrosse, and the 2020 bubble season where Chad and the other black athletes in the league (MLL-4) spoke out about social justice and wanting to see changes in the sport of lacrosse.  He explains the merger of the MLL and PLL, getting ready for the 2021 season, and continuing to use his platform to seek change.
