You're probably thinking why the hell is Kristen Lee in my ears on a Thursday? You might also be thinking, holy crap, she's doing it again. Like in 2020, she's going on a podcast, blissed like blitz and she's all cracked out in podcast episodes and she's going to burn herself out and we're not going to hear from her for another. No, I got you. I got you covered. This is not one of those things, but this particular episode is a followup episode from a few weeks back around the conversation of how to charge more for dog training. The 20, 22 conversation. I got so much great feedback and a lot of follow-up questions, especially around am. I actually. To raise my rates substantially as a dog trainer. Now, if you haven't listened to that particular episode, go back and listen to it. I break it down. The ethics of charging more as a dog trainer, how not to feel sleazy, having a higher end or higher price and higher end dog training service. Who should be charging more for training? Remember not any Joe Schmoe off the street charging like 10 K for dog training program. The reasons why so many dog trainers get stuck and not charging more and actually how to do the price increases. So this particular episode is for the dog trainers that have reached out to me or the listeners that might find themselves stuck in what we call dog business decision purgatory about raising their prices. It's more of like, okay, I know why I need to raise my prices. I have the training chops behind me. I'm a bad-ass dog trainer, but is it really time? Maybe you did a price increase, not too long. So I want to walk you through quickly the three yes, three signs. It's time to raise your prices as a dog trainer. Now these are just three signs, so there might be other signs that I'm not covering, but if any of these ring a bell, especially if you have multiple or all three of these signs need to raise your prices, you might not be aware of these, but I got you. We're going to discover them together very quickly and I'll get you in, get you out. All right, the very first sign that you need to raise your rates as a dog trainer. It's the very first one and the most common one. You rarely hear a no. When you pitch your services or you rarely hear, I have to think about it. Let me check with my spouse. Let me check my bank account, et cetera. You are literally the signup. So, this is a huge, huge red flag to dogmas school coaches that if you're consistently closing, like if you have like a higher than 75% close rate, I would even go as high, a little bit lower. It's like a 60% close rate. You absolutely need to raise your rates. All right. So if you rarely hear a no in dog training, when you pitch your dog training services need to raise your rates. Okay, the next sign, get, I promise it was going to be short and sweet. I got you. I got you covered is that you rate you based your original prices around the same or similar rages of the other trainers in your area are charging and you haven't done a significant price increase sense. So let me break that down. If you started your business a couple of years, And you've had some PR and you based your rates on other dog training companies in your area, no matter what kind of style dog training they do, who they are, how long they've been in business, but you based your rates around a very similar rate. And you haven't significantly meaning you haven't dramatically increased your rates since it's been kind of on the table. Maybe you've done a few adjustments, but you haven't really gone gung ho and blasted and upped your prices in like increased in the last couple of years. That is a sign to raise your rates. Again, business purgatory. It's where a lot of dog training businesses go to wait, it's the middle. If you guys ever watch, um, the good place, it's like the, the middle place or the whatever place, right? Don't want to go there. Don't go there. You don't want to be there. It's lame sucks. Number one, kilt. Well, not the number one killer, but it's one of the killers of businesses. All right. And the last sign that you need to increase your rates today. Is you have a waitlist enough now here's the funny thing about having a wait-list God, I think in June, 2021, we did a weightless intervention because so many dog trainers, because 2021 was a record-breaking year for dog trainers across the board. And every single one of the dog trainers that we knew of had a waitlist. Okay. If you have a waitlist, that is a massive sign beyond just raising your rates, but you need to get your programs updated because here's the thing there's a whole old saying, even if you will, the whole thing of the devil, the idle hands or whatever, the devil or whatever. Right. You can have a $20,000 dog training program with a waitlist. However, a person shouldn't have to wait to get dog training for months and months and months on end. When you have a significant price increase paired along with a grassroots dog biscuit. Style fusion program member Princeton did a case study on our fusion programs. They were so blown away as a client. The distance education lead from Princeton actually went through one of our students, uh, Douglas school fusion programs. And they're like, who the fuck is this? Who's teaching this. And they did a case study on us. Very cool. You can go back and show the recording one day. I think we did on our Facebook page, but if you don't have a fusion program, you are having this massive gap, like it's point to. C and point B is like purgatory there. And people you are potentially leaving a lot of fuck a fuck ton of money off the table and kind of dropping it on the client experience. They might actually go to somebody who has more open X has more experience, not more experienced, but more availability, but they might be a shitty trainer. Right. So if you have a waitlist incredibly. Important and huge red flag that a, you need to increase your rates and B you need to get a fusion program going K it's not 2020 anymore. Not 2021. It's time to upgrade your dog training programs and your pricing that goes along with it. All right. Listen, raising your rates. Shifting around your program, design, everything else can be tricky. It can be confusing and it can cost not just money, but also time as you try to go around the corner alone with it. So do not hesitate to reach out to me personally. Or my team to get you started with this stuff, even if it's just a quick conversation. If you have a couple questions, what we can do is talk about the benefits of raising your rates and updating your program design. Because both those things it's like, yeah, you can go raise your rates incredibly high and significantly, but if you don't have the program designed behind it, you are going to end up in the same place. Three months down the line, you'll be making more money. But if you, again, go hand in hand with a lot of dog trainers, what they do is when they increase their rates, they automatically add more to, uh, to justify the value. So what you need to do is that this is something that you are truly serious about, and you're ready to take 20, 22 by the fucking horns and really change the way you do the business of dogs and the way you design your life and your business and make the right decisions and move forward. You need to talk to us. Okay. I'm not going to be on a, I'm not going to be shameless about this.
