So let me start here with a little bit of tough love . If you're still blaming genetics , if you're still blaming bad luck , your age for feeling tired , slugg or out of shape , you're living in a fixed mindset and it's holding you back . I say this with love now , because I've been there . I used to believe that I was stuck in a cycle of exhaustion and decline until about 2014 , when I read a life-changing book called Mindset by Dr Carol Dweck , and it completely shifted how I saw not just my health and my potential , but my entire life . It taught me that by adopting a growth mindset that I could take charge of my health , I could take charge of my life , I could create a better future for myself , and you can find the link to Mindset in the show notes . I highly encourage that you check it out and read it for yourself . I remember I actually listened to the audio book and it was unbearable for me to get through . I got through it , I got through it , but sometimes I enjoy the audiobook version of a book and sometimes I do not , and that one was one that I enjoyed . Reading it more than I enjoyed listening to it , but I highly encourage you to read it if you haven't already , because if you're ready to optimize your health and reverse aging and truly thrive , your mindset is the first place to start , and that's why we're starting here today . I just got to take a sip of my uh , my ashwagandha and honey lemon tea here . Oh , that's so good .

So in our last episode , we really set the stage for this year , for 2025 , if you're listening to this currently focusing on high-performance health strategies to live to 100 years old and beyond with vitality . These are not just concepts . These are proven strategies from the latest science and from decades of research and study and clinical practice of what is working today . So today we're diving deeper into one of the most crucial elements for achieving that goal , and that is your mindset when it comes to optimizing for longevity and anti-aging . And I say that let me just dig a little bit deeper into that , because anytime a client comes to me over at loveenergywellnesscom and they're looking to make changes , I always start with a complimentary consultation for them . We always talk about their challenges , their health challenges , their mindset challenges . We talk about their goals and then we talk about how I can help . However , the one question that I always ask before we get started is what are we optimizing for ? Because if we're optimizing for body transformation , if we're optimizing for body transformation , if we're optimizing for bodybuilding , if we're optimizing for weight loss , if we're optimizing for thyroid dysfunction , if we're optimizing for gut health , if we're optimizing for energy and performance , if we're optimizing for brain fog , if we're optimizing for longevity , those are all completely different strategies , completely different conversations that we're having there .

So when it comes to optimizing for longevity and anti-aging , many people unknowingly hold on to a fixed mindset . Now , they can do that for any of those topics , but this belief system often sounds like well , aging just happens and there's nothing that I can do about it . And you know sometimes that comes from their primary care physician and you know nothing against primary cares or nurse practitioners or medical doctors . I believe everybody should have one and everybody should , um , have a good one at that . But sometimes doctors are dismissive and they say you know , aging just happens and there's nothing you can do about it . And then the person adopts that as a belief system . And we talked a little bit about that in our most recent from the heart newsletter that we put out . That comes out on Sunday so it just came out last Sunday and we talked a little bit about that , that issue with primary cares , and if you're on our email list , you know exactly what I'm talking about .

Or they might say my genetics determine my health . Well , that's not entirely true , because you had the same genes 10 or 15 years ago but you didn't have the same problem . So what changed ? Your genetics didn't , didn't change . You have the same genes . So your genetics , you know they don't necessarily determine your health . It's the regulation , the upregulation or the downregulation , the epigenetics , the above genetics , that changes your outcome . So that comes to lifestyle , it comes to environment . I'm not going to go too deep into that right now .

Or I hear a lot that you know it's too late for me to make a difference , like why bother now ? It's never too late . It is never too late to turn your health around . I've had clients come to me in their 70s and make profound differences from discovering the underlying root causes and imbalances . And yes , you know later in life that you start . Sometimes there's more work to be done because there's things that have been , you know , toxicities that have been brought onto the body over the years . Like it's much easier to transform somebody's health I shouldn't say much easier when they're in their 20s than when they're in their 70s , because you know there's been less oxidative stress , there's been less cellular damage , so that all makes a huge difference . But it's never too late for anybody to make a difference in their health . And so these thoughts create invisible barriers that prevent progress and lock you into a cycle of decline . But here's the truth a growth mindset transforms possibilities into realities . Hit that , hit that rewind button . You'll listen to that again . I'll say it again a growth mindset transforms possibilities into realities .

So let's talk a little bit about how a growth mindset empowers you to break through boundaries and optimize your health for longevity . So a growth mindset says my choices can positively influence my biology and my aging process . That's a true statement . You can also say science and integrative health strategies give me the tools to change the trajectory of my health Also a true growth mindset statement . Or , it's never too late to make a meaningful impact on my well-being that is also a growth mindset statement . So this mindset isn't just about thinking positively , it's about taking action . And more so , it's about aligning your habits with the latest science on anti-aging and high performance health . And that's what we're bringing you here in the Breaking Boundaries podcast . That's what we bring in our Optimize program over at Love Energy Wellness . So let's talk about taking action and I want to give you some growth mindset strategies .

So number one we're gonna reframe aging as an opportunity . Aging doesn't have to mean decline . It can mean growth , it can mean evolution , it can mean optimization , it can mean success later in life . Research shows that when you view aging as a process you can influence your you're more likely to adopt healthy behavior when you look at aging as a process that you can influence . So next is set growth oriented goals and ask yourself how do I want to feel at age 70 , 80 , 90 , 100 years old ? Use that vision to create actionable goals like improving mobility , enhancing cognitive function or reducing your biological age . So next number three leverage tools for growth . So next number three leverage tools for growth . Tools like the MyDNAge lab test help you to measure progress and understand how your mindset and habits are impacting your biological age , metabolic health and longevity as well . So tests like APOE or MTHFR I'm gonna explain in a moment just exactly what those mean but these are analysis that provide deeper insights into how to optimize for the best outcomes .

And then , number four surround yourself with possibility . Connect with others who are committed to high performance longevity . When you surround yourself with possibility , connect with others who are committed to high performance longevity . When you surround yourself with people who believe in optimization and growth , it reinforces your own belief system . And it brings me back to the statement that I think maybe Jim Rohn , who is kind of known as the godfather of personal development . I think it was him that coined the phrase that you are the average of the five people that you spend the most time with . So surround yourself with possibility . So let's go back for a second why APOE , a-p-o-e and M-T-H-F-R matter for longevity .

One of the most powerful tools we use to help you shift towards a growth mindset is data , specifically the insights we get from functional health testing and DNA testing , epigenetic testing . So we use a lab test in our Optimize program . It's called MyDNAge lab test and it doesn't just measure your biological age age , which is a great marker to track the progress that you're actually making . It compares your biological age with your chronological age and we can literally get people to age backwards . But but that's not all . There's more . This test . It also evaluates critical genetic markers like apo , e and mth , and this is why we use it and here's why these markers matter for longevity . So ApoE is short for apolipoprotein E , and this gene is directly linked to your risk for cardiovascular disease and neurodegenerative conditions like Alzheimer's disease and neurodegenerative conditions like Alzheimer's and Parkinson's as well . So understanding your ApoE status allows us to tailor a plan to optimize not only your brain but your heart health as well , proactively . Very , very important marker to understand .

And the MTHFRfr ? You'll understand in a moment why we call it mthfr . It stands for methylene tetrahydro tetrahydrofolate reductase , so methylene tetrahydrofolate reductase . That's why we say mthfr uh , it's just much easier . So this gene affects how your body processes and uses folate and B vitamins , which are crucial for methylation . Now why is that important ? Methylation is a process that supports detoxification . That's right . We got to make sure we're getting the junk out of the body . So detoxification is important and if we have a mthfr variant , that tells us that we need to take these extra steps because the body is not methylating properly . It also is a good indicator for cellular repair . So we want the cells to be able to go through their apoptosis process programmed cellular death . We also want them to be able to regenerate as well . And the healthy cells ? We want them to be able to repair themselves . So these are all processes for healthy aging , and if you have MTHFR variants , then targeted nutrition and supplementation can make a dramatic difference in how your body functions .

By understanding these genetic factors , we can take actionable steps to optimize your health and your longevity . This is a perfect example of how shifting to a growth mindset empowers you to use the data to make informed , proactive choices . So growth in action . What is next for you ?
