Today, my friends, today you're about to discover something truly revolutionary in high-performance health.
Speaker 1:Yes, it's the latest buzzword, but what exactly is MTHFR really? Well, mthfr stands for methylene tetrahydrofolate reductase. Yeah, I know, it's a mouthful, that's why we say MTHFR. But what is it? Well, it's actually an enzyme. It's an enzyme that helps your body convert folate which is more commonly known as vitamin B9, into its active form, methylfolate. This active folate is critical for things like detoxifying harmful environmental substances or even internal toxins, producing good mood neurotransmitters. I'm talking about neurotransmitters like serotonin and dopamine. It also helps to regulate homocysteine levels. What does that mean? Well, think, heart and brain health. And then it also assists DNA repair and replication. Right, your body is a process and that DNA needs to be repaired and it replicates in order for you not to have issues down the road. And then it also helps in reducing inflammation. You may know inflammation, known as the silent killer. Well, that is absolutely true. And, additionally, the truth is, if you've got a variation or mutation in the MTHFR gene. Your body might not be doing these things efficiently, which can lead to symptoms like chronic fatigue, brain fog, hormonal imbalances, anxiety or depression, trouble detoxing from things like alcohol or medications, medications and especially environmental toxins or increased inflammation or even cardiovascular risk.
Speaker 1:Now that I named some of those things, you know, I'm not claiming to be able to treat, diagnose or cure any of these diseases, but this translates to if you're pushing hard in business, in fitness or in racing and your body is not keeping up, this might be the reason why. Now you might be wondering, jeff, is this just another fad, the latest craze in health, or is it a scam? Is it a fad? Well, let's clear something up. Or, you know, is it a scam? Is it a fad? Well, let's clear something up.
Speaker 1:Mthfr is not a trend. It's a genetic reality for up to 40% of people in some populations. So what's changed is our ability to test for it affordably and to take proactive, targeted steps based on that knowledge. This isn't about fear. It's about precision, because when you know how your body works at the genetic level, you can do things like choose the right supplements I'm talking about methylated B vitamins instead of synthetic folic acid in things like energy drinks or in the most common multivitamins.
