Welcome to the Church in the Peak podcast. We hope you enjoy this message. For more information, visit churchinthepeak.org or come and join us at ten a.m. every Sunday. For the whole world, his great plan of salvation. That the lamb that was given for the Passover sacrifice is now replaced by the Lamb of God. Replaced on the cross, the shedding of his blood once and for all time. No more do we have to sacrifice lambs because Jesus did it once and for all time. Hallelujah. He fulfills the Passover to this very day. To the very day, the very hour and time of the Passover sacrifice. As the Jews are sacrificing their lambs, Jesus is sacrificed for us at the ninth hour. Hallelujah. What a savior. This was his plan from the beginning of time. So Jesus becomes our great Passover Lamb and takes away our sin by his sacrifice. We no longer remember the Passover of the Old Testament, but now we remember Jesus, who dies to take away our sin once and for all time. Not just now open to Jews, but open to all. Jews, Gentiles, Romans, and us. Hallelujah. What a Saviour. Hebrews 10, verse 12 to 23 says this. But when Christ had offered for all time a single sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God, waiting from that time until his enemy should be made a footstool for his feet. For by a single offering he has perfected for all time those who are being sanctified. That's us. For by a single offering he has perfected for all time those who are being sanctified. And the Holy Spirit also bears witness to us. For after saying, This is the covenant I will make with them after those days, declares the Lord, I will put my laws on their hearts and write them on their minds. And he adds, I will remember their sins and their lawless deeds no more. Where there is forgiveness of these, there is no longer any offering for sin. Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the holy place by the blood of Jesus, by the new and living way that he opened for us through the curtain, that is, through his flesh. And since we have a great high priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised to be faithful. Hallelujah. And that is the story. Jesus Christ, a single sacrifice for sins, once and for all, died on the cross to set us free. But more than that, he gave us access into God's presence. And access is an interesting thing. We often stand on the we stand outside sometimes. And I think that's what Zara was talking about this morning. We stand outside his presence and we think, I'm not worthy to come in, but you are worthy, not because of your worthiness, because Jesus was worthy. That curtain in the temple was ripped in two to give you access into God's presence. And so often we stand on the outside and we don't go in. You see, when my son comes home, he comes straight in, goes in the kitchen, and puts four pieces of toast in the toaster. Why does he do that? Because he's part of my family, he has rights and he has access into my kitchen. Now the thing is this if you came around to my house, I don't think you would go into my kitchen and put four slices of bread and toast. You'd be very welcome to do that, but I don't think you would probably do it because you're kind of we're British, aren't we? We're a bit more kind of, you know, oh, oh, can I have a piece of toast? You probably wouldn't even ask, even if you were hungry. But the thing is, what's the what's the point? The point is this you have every right to be in God's presence. You have every right to come into his house, you have every right to go to the toaster and put four things in and put the kettle on and make a cup of tea and make a cup of coffee and go to the fridge and open it and take a yogurt drink if you must. You have every right, not because of anything you've done, not because you're good, not because you read your Bible every day that way, because of Jesus and what he has done. And so often we stand away and we think, I can't go into God's presence. I've had a really bad week. I don't deserve it. And God says, I know you don't deserve it. Now you know what grace is all about. Now you're beginning to understand what grace is. Undeserved favor. Undeserved. Get it in your head. I don't deserve it. Yes, you don't. But he did. It's undeserved. None of us deserve the favor of God. Undeserved favor. You have the favor of God on you. You have the favor of God on you. If you're saved this morning, if you're a Christian this morning, you have his favor on you. That is a wonderful truth. And so often, and so many people that we pray for, uh, you know, say, I'm not worthy, I'm not good enough. You're absolutely right. You're not worthy, and you're not good enough, and neither am I. But Jesus was worthy, and Jesus was good enough, and because of Jesus, you have access into God's presence. You have every right to come into his house and dine with him and sup with him and have a meal with him, and that is your right. And brothers and sisters, don't stand on the edge. Come right into God's presence. Doesn't matter what kind of a week you've had because it's undeserved favor. You just come and say, Lord, I've had a terrible week. He says, Okay, let's deal with it by the blood of Jesus. It's gone. Now come into my presence. He deals with our sin. He makes us white as snow. We've been singing it this morning. Nothing but the blood of Jesus. That's right. Nothing but the blood of Jesus. You don't have to do penance, you don't have to do your worry bees and all that malarkey. You don't have to do it. You don't have to come to a high priest who is intercessor between us and God. No, no, no, no, no. You have access right to Jesus, right to God the Father and to the Holy Spirit because of what Jesus did. There is no restriction. He is our great high priest. Amen. Not someone sitting in a little box listening to confession. No, no, no. Jesus listens to your confession directly. That's what access is all about. We need to understand how important this truth is. You have access into God's presence, into the Holy of Holies. What a gift. And yet, so often we don't take it. Jesus calls us this morning. He says, Come on, come into my house. Come and have toast with me. Come and have a coffee with me. Come and sit with me. It's your right. Because of what Jesus did. Hallelujah. Jesus, our Messiah, is the Passover Lamb. He took the sin of the whole world upon himself. And he willingly became our sacrificial Lamb. It's his blood, the blood of Jesus, that is applied to our hearts. And that blood, just as the original blood protected the people of Israel from the angel of death, it protects us from judgment and the angel of death. The wrath of God. As he rose from the dead, we too will rise with him when he comes again. Praise God for Jesus, our sacrificial Lamb. When I spoke last time, I uh meant I haven't got this verse, uh Emma, so don't worry. 1 John 4, verse 10. In this is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his son to be the propitiation for our sins. And I said to you, if there's one word you want to remember this morning, it's propitiation, it's a fantastic word. What does it mean? Turning wrath into love through sacrifice. That is the gospel. That is the gospel. Jesus Christ came to turn away God's wrath by love, by his sacrifice. It turns away God's wrath and it brings you into his kingdom. That's why it's a great word. 1 John 4, verse 10. Look it up. Propitiation, turning wrath into love through sacrifice. That is what Jesus did. That's why we can come into his presence. 2 Corinthians 5, verse 21 to finish. Can we just have the worship team up? Oh go back into worship. That's all right. Um 2 Corinthians 5, verse 21 says this, for our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin. So that in him we might become the righteousness of God. See, it's all about what Jesus did. You want to be righteous before God. Jesus has done it for you. You come to him, you tell him the truth about your week, you tell him the truth about your day. He gives you his undeserved favor. We sing that song so often, I don't deserve it. I didn't earn it. But he loves me. And that is so true. We need to keep that in our hearts and minds. We don't deserve it, but it's undeserved favor. That's what God brings us this morning. Okay, we're gonna finish there. Uh I'll take the mat, sir, and give it to somebody who can put it out at the fuel stop. We're just gonna come back into worship. That's all right. Got a few minutes and then we'll pray.
