Show Notes

Danielle grew up in the kitchen with her grandfather, spending hours at a time cooking with him. She started working in the restaurant industry when she was a teenager, and in her late teens early 20’s started going down a path that resulted in addition and self-harm.

In 2007, she had a horrendous motorcycle accident (she was hit by a semi-truck), which landed her in the hospital with a shattered ankle and multiple skin grafts. She made it out alive. Unfortunately, the position she was in before the accident with accessibility to drugs, combined with a growing prescription drug addiction from the accident, lead her to a nearly deadly heroin addiction.

Her healing journey started with detox, rehab, anonymous meetings, counseling, and other forms of therapy. She slowly began to change her life, eliminating cigarettes and junk food around 2013. In 2015, after watching a few documentaries, she decided to go vegan, which prompted her to dive into vegan cooking, and in 2017 started her podcast, Vegan Danielle. Vegan Danielle is now her trademark! Her resilience and courage is just incredible and I feel lucky to have her on the show today to share more about her incredible story.

Topics Discussed:

  • More about her incredible story of overcoming several addictions and severe trauma
  • The root cause of her trauma
  • Healing modalities that worked
  • Body shaming
  • The body positivity movement
  • The importance of the perspective of non-judgement and compassion for both humans and animals
  • Where she is today in her journey and what she is currently curious about
