Season 13 - Episode 14: Psychosomatics of Diverticulitis | EVETTE ROSE
Diverticulitis is a condition where small pouches form in the large intestine and become inflamed or infected. Studies suggest that psychological factors such as stress and anxiety can increase inflammation and worsen the symptoms of diverticulitis. Chronic stress can interfere with the body’s ability to effectively digest nutrients, leading to symptoms such as abdominal pain and constipation. In addition, certain dietary habits, such as eating a diet low in fiber, may contribute to diverticular disease. To reduce the risk of developing diverticulitis due to psychosomatic causes, it is important to practice stress management techniques and improve dietary habits by making sure to consume enough high-fiber foods. Additionally, seeking professional help for any mental health issues present may provide further benefits for managing this condition.
