Season 13 - Episode 30: Psychosomatics of Emphysema EVETTE ROSE
Emphysema is a chronic lung condition characterized by damage to the air sacs in the lungs, causing difficulty breathing and shortness of breath. While emphysema is primarily caused by long-term exposure to irritants such as tobacco smoke, air pollution, and other environmental factors, psychosomatic factors can also contribute to the symptoms and progression of the condition.
Psychosomatic emphysema may manifest in the following ways:
💥Breathing difficulties: People who suffer from anxiety and panic disorders may experience breathing difficulties and shortness of breath, even in the absence of physical lung damage.
💥Increased symptoms: Emotional stress and anxiety can cause the symptoms of emphysema to worsen, leading to increased shortness of breath, coughing, and fatigue.
💥Physical inactivity: Depression, anxiety, and other mental health issues can lead to decreased physical activity and reduced lung function, which can exacerbate symptoms of emphysema.
💥Smoking: People who suffer from mental health problems such as depression and anxiety may be more likely to smoke, which can further damage their lungs and worsen the symptoms of emphysema.
💥To manage psychosomatic emphysema, it is important to address the underlying psychological and emotional factors that are contributing to the symptoms.
