This is a deeper dive into how and why I've changed my mind on offering a Website In A Day service.
It's all thanks to Bailey Collins blowing my mind last year after digging into how she sold 400+ (now over 500) website in a day packages back on episode #387
Straight up, I recommend and fully back her Design Day Blueprint Course

Setting The Stage
Josh HallHello, friend. It's Josh here popping in with another little weekly solo episode here. I feel like I should like call this little series something because every week I'm just popping in for a little while here to expand on my weekly newsletter in audio format. Um, but until I name it, we'll just call it Joshy time. I don't know. We'll call it something. Um that got creepy. So let's dive into this one. I wanted to share some additional insight with you about creating a website in a day offer. And this, of course, is based off my podcast episode this week with Bailey Collins, which was the repurposed training that she did inside of Web Designer Pro. Um, but what I want to do in this is I actually want to walk you through the playbook I created, which is in the newsletter version of this. So that will be below. If you're not signed up for my weekly newsletter, what are you doing with your life? Sign up. It's completely free. It's really going to help you out in your web design business, um, joshhall.co slash newsletter or sign up below. But what I did is I actually did this prior to her training. Um, I created a playbook, which is so inside of Web Designer Pro, there's a space called Josh's Corner. So Web Designer Pro members go in there and click on playbooks. And playbooks are more of um, it's almost like a blog post, but it's a very action-oriented type of post. And I did one for Bailey after our episode about how to craft a website in a day offer. And that's what I want to go over with you here. This is the newsletter for this week, but I wanted to expand on it in audio. And before I do share kind of the playbook of how to craft your own website in a day offer, if you have yet to watch Bailey's training, I just want to be really, really clear about this. I do not recommend a course or take a sponsor or have a partnership with somebody in any way if I do not trust their product and do not trust their course. In the case of Bailey, I am a proud affiliate for her design day blueprint course. And we'll talk about that here because there is a special offer for you if you're ready to go through her entire course based off of her business. But I just want to be really clear about that because as I'm entering into the world of sponsorships and partnerships, I just want you to know, those of you who have been with me, be excuse me, been with me for a long time, you know this. But if you're new, I can totally understand some skepticism and apprehension about seeing more affiliates and sponsors. But I am ruthlessly integral with the tools I recommend. I do not recommend a tool, a course, or any other program if I don't either use it myself or I don't truly stand by it. And in the case of Bailey's course, it's funny, I had her on the podcast back in episode 387, which is where this all stemmed from. And um, well, back up real quick. Bailey is actually a student of mine. She went through my what was formerly cPanel course years ago. Now it's called DNS course. And so I recognized her name when she reached back out via email and said that, hey, I have, and that's how we got connected. I followed her on Instagram, and she had said, Hey, I'm actually, I've done over 400 website in a day sites, and I'm actually wrapping my process into this course. And I'd love to talk about it if you'd be interested in having me on your podcast. So it was a great cold pitch email. So I had her on the podcast. That was episode 387, which is where this playbook has stemmed from. And I'm gonna be completely honest with you. I I don't want to say I didn't believe her, but I didn't believe her that you could actually do a website in a day. Now, I've been really familiar with VIP days and day rates. It's not something I implemented in my business, but I've uh I have a friend Sarah Massey who had a program called Day Rate Mastery. And it made, it absolutely made sense to have a day rate because you can scoop up a lot of things in a day that may be website, maybe branding, maybe design, maybe strategy, all wrapped up in one. And I think that's where Sarah Massey's program and Bailey Collins' program differs because Bailey's is pretty much strictly website in a day with her exact process. Sarah's is more uh day rate mastery and more of a VIP style package. So similar, but a little bit different. So I was very familiar with that, but I did not know how the heck it's even the it's even possible to build a whole website in a day. Because my thought was that you have eight hours to have our discovery call, build the strategy, do the planning, collect the content, write the copy, design the graphics, design the site, do the SEO, do it all, develop, submit it to Google and submit it to Search Console, add accessibility, add optimization, add privacy, everything else, and then you know, launch. But the big thing about Bailey's process that I absolutely loved is it's not website project in a day, it's website build in a day. And that is a huge difference. And sure, and as we cover here in this playbook that you can have for free if you sign up for the newsletter and you'll get it inside a Web Center Pro when you join my community. But the pre-design day is where the gold is, truly. And we've all had these type of projects, right? To where you do a website that you just have all the information and you can just cook through it. I remember I was uh white labeling for a local agency here in Columbus, Ohio called RevLocal. They were a digital marketing agency and they had a website wing. And it's actually how I got to know Divi because they used Divi at the time. This was too this was circa 2014. And I remember I worked on a site, I wonder if it's still live. I worked on a site called Day Night Sign. They do really cool signage for companies in Columbus. Well, I mean, okay, so that was over 10 years ago. So of course they redesigned it. But let me tell you, my site design was awesome. Um, but what was funny about that is they the my contact there that they had me work with, she was incredible. She had she had every page, everything was written, gave me all the graphics, and I I'm pretty sure I designed the first version of that site in one day because I had everything I needed. And Bailey's process in her design day blueprint course is that. I mean, that's that's how she's done over 500 website in a day projects, is the prep. It's all about the prep. So by the time you get to the day, you can actually build an up to five or six-page website in a day, especially if you know your tool stack really well. So that's what we're gonna cover. It's all about the prep. And the cool thing about what I really, really love about Bailey's process is that she has it's so dialed in that the prep does not mean you're working, you know, two weeks prior and killing yourself before you get to the day. It's based off of her process, which you can do, you don't have to use her tool stack that we'll cover here. You can use anything. But it's the process of guiding the client with pre-built steps to where they do the work. And the only work that you are actually doing, aside from selling the project, is one prep call. Generally, that's a week to two weeks before you actually start the design day. And then by the time you get to the design day, you are so prepared that you cruise through it. So that is like the big difference here with Bailey's process and why I love it so much. Bailey's also just she's awesome. Um, I've had some members of Web Designer Pro go through this based off of her training that she did for us in Pro, and they're raving about how it's helping their business. And before we dive into this playbook, the reason I feel very, very confident and very open about sharing this is because I think it can be such a perfect starter. I mean, this can absolutely be your full business if you want it to be, but it's up to six pages. It is not intensive SEO, it's not custom design. So this isn't going to work for everybody, or at the very least, it can be a great starter type package. If you want to have your$2,500 to$3,500 starting point for clients who just need a website up that's less than five pages, this is it. Like Bailey's course is two grand. And you buy the course, you take her processes, you take those systems, you roll it out, you sell one website at two grand, you've made up your investment. You sell another website for two grand, you can jump into Web Center Pro Coaching with me. It is great. Like, this is a profit machine, is what this is. So um, that's why I love having this as a resource to fit inside of my community, Web Center Pro, because I don't teach the website in a day model. I teach more traditional custom style projects, which can be done-ish in a week, but this is like a streamlined beginner offer if you want to frame it like that. But again, this could be your whole business, especially if you want to expand what's included in a website in a day. And you can also, of course, make this website in a week if you wanted to give yourself more time. This could also be web page in a day. You could make this a landing page site that is a one-page site. Let's say you're happy doing$5,000,$10,000 projects or a little more custom, but you have clients who just need a one-page website, then call it page in a day. One page in a day. You can use this process. So here's the playbook. Again, this was the newsletter that just came out along with this episode, and it's also a playbook inside of Web Center Pro. So community and coaching members and pro, head over to Josh's corner and click on playbooks, and you will find this website in a day playbook. So here's the overview of design day for those who haven't listened to Bailey's episode, which will be linked below, and her training that expands on this. Um, she is working with mostly service-based businesses, and the scope is very constrained. And it's because she's working with primarily service-based businesses. It's up to six pages for her, and that is max, unless you do an add-on. Most of it is home about services and contact. And then she does have add-ons that can include a mini brand, which, by the way, if you want her full course and you use my affiliate link, which is below, or go to joshhall.co slash DDB for design day blueprint, she will give you the$500 bonus module about how to create a mini brand day for free just by using my link. And if you use code Josh10, that'll get you 10% off the course. All that is below, of course. But those are the add-ons. Mini brand, so also do an additional blog setup and some additional pages, but not functionality, no extra features like that. And that actually, well, we'll talk about pricing offer and offers next, but that's the overview of what's included in the scope. Now, as I mentioned, the actual website build is not the website project as a whole. It's not collecting content, it's not onboarding, it's not getting all the image assets and branding stuff, and it's not the initial strategy call. Those are pre-design day, but it's all automated with her systems. She onboards clients with Trello and she has an onboard video that goes to every client. But again, you could use Basecamp or Monday or Dub Soto or whatever tool that you feel comfortable with as far as managing projects or high-level, whatever it is, as long as it's a project manager. Um, she actually uses Google Docs and she has prompts in there with ChatGPT prompts that have uh help copywriting. And she gives like generalized strategy advice inside of that Google Doc that has the prompts to help clients write their content. Of course, they're gonna tweak it when they get to the design day. And then the assets that they require to have in place before the design day starts is the copy, the images, and the brand files. And then if they do the mini brand, that will be a part of that as well. Um, because if if Bailey's team is doing the mini brand, or if you're doing the mini brand, then you're probably gonna create some stuff before the design day. And then the prep call. She has which you could call it's probably more of a strategy call versus a prep call. Um, she's pretty flexible with this, but it's generally at least a week to two prior to the actual design day to give some time to go through and get all that stuff. All under that one call and on all under that Google Doc and Trello board that is completely automated. And then there is the day of. Now, Bailey works a long day for her design days, which is why you do not have to do this. She actually talked about this in the training inside of Web Designer Pro that is also live now on the podcast here this week and my YouTube channel, because she even said you do not have to do this, you know, intensive day, because it is an intensive day. But she's getting paid four grand at least, five grand for most of these with add-ons. So it's worth it. I mean, five grand a day. When's the last time you made five grand in a day? It probably doesn't happen all the time. So, but it's all about the process and all the system. But it's it's something that's intensive for her, but it doesn't have to be that way for you right now. You again, if you do a website in a day or a web page in a day, it could be half a day. Or you could roll this out to website in a week and you could do, you could split it out however you want to, however, you want to do it. It's you know, it does not have to work like this. You could spread it over a couple days. You can really make it your own, which is why I love this process. It's the same process, but it's your timeline. So the day of Bailey starts early, 8 a.m. If you follow her on Instagram, she's a wow girl and she's working out at like freaking 4 30. Um, so you know, you don't have to work out at 4 30 like Bailey does. But uh if you want to, if you want to do this, probably a good step in the right direction. She does the home page. So she starts early at about 8. The home page is done. She starts with that first, usually around 10 or 10:30. And then once they have the header, the home page, the main global elements created, then they build out the six pages. So the, you know, five or six pages for services about, et cetera. And then that usually takes them up to the mid-afternoon. And then she will do a Loom video walkthrough of the design to the client by around 3 p.m. And then the client has a little bit of time there to give feedback within the next couple hours. And then by 5 p.m., usually 4 to 5 p.m., they are doing all final revisions. And by the way, that feedback is with a Google Doc. So there's not much room for the client to be like, oh, I want a completely new site or I want to customize this and add this. No. It's and she has a really good process of the design leading up to that, to where there shouldn't be much ambiguity as far as like what style they're going to create. And then they do the revisions right then. And then they're usually launching sites by 5 or 5 30, depending on how fast clients get the final revisions too. And then again, they have those add-ons and they actually do have a retainer that they offer after this. And side note, Bailey is not doing this on her own now. She has a team member, I think his name is Kyle, right? Um apologize if I got that wrong, if Bailey's listening, but I believe it's Kyle. And it's a, you know, it's a two-person team right now. So that's always a factor, too, is this doesn't have to be all on your shoulders if you want to go this route. And then pricing, you're curious about pricing, I'm sure. So she started at$800 for a design day, and then she's increased her rates over the years. She started this in 2021. Um, why didn't I say 2021? It's weird. Who's who says 2021? Um so she has the base design rate at$3,800, and then the mini brand is$500, blog setup is$200. So with the add-ons, most of her sites are anywhere between$45 to$5K. And as far as payment plan goes, she often will do four-month payment plans. So clients are paying probably around a grand or a little over a grand for four months for this project. And then she offer her, she offers her support and retainer plans. So you offer those for$90 for an hour per month. If you need more support, about three hours, it's$255 currently. And then five hours are at$400 a month for updates. And she's not doing hosting or maintenance plans. I'm going to try to convince her to do that. So you could absolutely do that and build a lot more recurring revenue. But retainers are a great way to go too, if that works for you. Um, but boundaries are the key with this. The boundaries are huge, which is why like she has her system and process dialed in. If you want to find out more about what we just covered, as far as like her constraints, her processes, her systems, that's what her course is for. She dives into this in great detail. So that's it. If you're curious about her tool stack, um, she is a WordPress and Elementor gal, but you again, you can use whatever you want with this model. Trello, Loom, Calendly, and Google Docs are her primary tool stack for onboarding, project management, doing the walkthrough video, scheduling calls, and everything runs through that Google Doc. And then she actually uses a tool called Voxer for client communication because it's like walkie-talkie style versus emailing back and forth or doing it inside a project manager term. And then um, yes, Kyle. Oh, that is his name. I saw it here in the playbook that I created. Yes, it is Kyle. It's her full-time assistant. Um, and then she does have a virtual assistant assistant to help with email and she has a part-time graphic designer to help with retainers. If you're curious about how Bailey is getting leads for this, her Instagram is the biggest one, plus referrals. And actually, she in that podcast episode when I interviewed her back in 387, she said that she did cold outreach to kick off. She sent 50 DMs to companies in a luxury picnic space, which I didn't even know that was a space, but there's a space for everything. And she actually, I think if I remember right, I think she got like two clients from that. Um, so very worthwhile. Any ways that you get clients, you can roll off this model. So if you want more, if you actually want to like make this a plug and play thing and you don't want to take the hard way around building this, I can't recommend her course enough. It's called the design day blueprint. Use my link, joshhall.co slash DDB. That is my affiliate link. And most importantly, you can get 10% off of her course by using code Josh10 that will take 10% off. And make sure to use my link because you will get the$500 valued extra bonus that is the brand in a day module. And as I mentioned in the outset, the reason I'm so um assertive, not assertive, but the reason I'm I'm really happy to promote this and I want to promote this, is because it is such a perfect starter tier. Because so many people I've found have a VIP day or a similar model that, like, how many, how many of you have done a website that was supposed to be a quote unquote simple website that was more of a template and more of a landing page? And the next thing you know, you're like, dang it, this should have been a$5,000 site because this is absolutely custom. But it's all on your process and your constraints. And if you take what Bailey has set up, the proof is in the pudding. She has done over 500 of these websites, and we can have some fun if you really want to know if that course is gonna be worthwhile of a return and investment for you. Let's say you're selling sites at four grand, let's just say four grand with with you know some add-ons for a day. If you sell, let's say you could sell one of those a week. So let's say four times twelve, forty-eight. If you could sell forty-eight of these a year at four grand, that is nearly two hundred. Now let's go more modest. Let's say you can sell maybe let's just say you want to do two a month. 24 sites, two a month, website and a day packages at four grand on average. That's six figures. That's$96,000. A little bit of upsells in there, you'll get to six figures, absolutely, especially with retainers. So this it's goal. You're sitting on gold with this model. I really, really encourage it. And again, inside of my business course, I teach a more traditional model. This is the perfect option to fill in that starter website for you. Unless you have a productized offer or a template site that is strictly just getting images and copy, which could be absolutely what you do with this. It is all about your process in order to segregate this from the custom work that you do. So if you want to have your custom work for those projects, like I would honestly like I like doing more custom work and I like getting a little further into SEO and doing more robust sites sometimes. This is the perfect mix between being not so templatized or productized, but not too custom. And it's all about the process. The process is there for you as a grab and grow system. Josh Hall.co slash DDB, that's the course. Josh10 is the coupon for your 10% off. You will get your bonus module and you will make a whole lot of money. And I can't wait to hear how this helps you. It's already helped a ton of members of my community Web Designer Pro. And uh yeah, I'm just thrilled to see how this helps you as well. And I hope it helps you make a lot more money so you can join Web Designer Pro and get my coaching. And we can talk about this and how you're implementing this with your more custom packages. And yeah, it's gonna be awesome. The world is a the digital world right now is exciting despite the fear of AI and everything, systems and processes, timeless. That's what really leads to profit. So I'm pumped for you. And I do want to give a quick shout out to Bailey and the Design Day Blueprint course, uh, because they are a sponsor for our upcoming Web Designer Pro Con event that's happening in April 2026. So I partnered up with Bailey and she is also investing into my community and supporting Web Designer Pro by being a sponsor for this event. So, Web Designer Pro members, by the way, if you have not got your tickets, we just sold another ticket yesterday at the time of recording this. We only have 14 spots left. So you got to get your ticket, ASAP is possible to Web Designer ProCon 2026, because we are filling up and I have I've only done like two mini pushes on it. Um, yeah, so I'm so excited. Anywho, there you go, friends. The playbook is inside of Web Designer Pro. It's also repurposed for the podcast or excuse me, for the uh newsletter. So make sure you're signed up for that, joshhall.co slash newsletter. Not all of my little solo episodes are going to be this intricate. I just because it's on the back of releasing her training that was on the podcast this week. I thought it would be good to just give you a little bit of a deep dive into this if you have not watched that. But all the links that you need to go to the next step will be below. Join her design day blueprint, tell her I sent you, and have fun making four to five K in a day. Cheers.
