The Emotional Curriculum
S02 E12 - The Pedagogies of Punishment Project: Self-determination Theory and its Role in Punishment
Show Notes

In the fourth episode in our series exploring punishment in schools we talk to Professor Randall Curren about his rethinking of traditional elf-determination theory and how this can influence punishment in schools.
We discuss how self-determination theory (a theory of motivation) can be considered in an educational context and how this would change the need for punishment.  We explore the three core principles of self-determination theory: autonomy; relatedness and competence.  You can find out more about the project on the website: www.pedagogiesofpunishment.com.
