Speaker 1:

You know a lot of what my podcast is. It's about self-improvement and these little battles, these wars over your life and stuff you go through psychologically to pretty much get yourself over the hill, and it's a lot of like internal, you know, just looking within yourself, within myself and stuff and externalizing that. And that's one of the hardest things to do, because if you just think something you know you might not think that clear in comparison to if you say something out loud, then you're really like working it out, and I don't have an audience necessarily in my car, I'm just talking to myself and working things out and thinking it out. But point is, um, I think one of the biggest things that not just I do but a lot of people do or whatever, is, um, when you start to get ahead, you know like the opposite of procrastination. It's like you actually kind of like hit the brakes or let off the gas and you actually make procrastination happen. And it's such a weird concept because when you're ahead it's so much easier to just stay ahead. But people feel like when you get ahead, you, you know, all of a sudden you can slow down. And that's such a weird concept if you really think about it Because you know if you are winning a race as long as you're in front again, this is just talking out loud externally right, if you are in a foot race, as long as you feel like you have a good lead against the other guy, you feel like you can pace yourself, and that's true to a degree, philosophy that says well, how far you know, like, maybe, maybe you're uh, what if they decide to to start to catch up?

Speaker 1:

But as long as you can leave that guy right behind you in the dirt way, way behind you, right, the further the better. You should always be increasing that lead. And I don't really know the answer. I don't. I don't have the reason why, right, but I do know that's something that, um, I do not want to and I'm not going to do anymore, because I feel like if you don't procrastinate to get something done, it's like a weird done. It's like a weird, not even a phenomenon, it's just strange. But you feel like you have a reason to almost slow yourself down right Now.

Speaker 1:

Again, as mentioned before, you know, this is me kind of realizing and thinking and working this out, but you got to admit a lot of times, even you, the listener, if you are working on something and you're ahead of schedule. All of a sudden there's like this weird thing where you feel like you can just sort of like kick back a little bit and slow down because you're ahead. What's wrong with being ahead? What's wrong with winning a race multiple lengths or minutes earlier, or something like that? You know, I think the only time that you don't do that uh is in um racing, uh, car racing specifically, I mean because, um, you know, the pedal is to the metal.

Speaker 1:

If you ever watched formula one, I love Formula One If they get a lead, they will lap somebody. There's no other sport like that. Some people might not call it a sport, but a lot of times, even again in competitive sports, if they have a lead, they don't try to, typically speaking, try to press that lead. If a guy is up in boxing and he's winning on rounds, he doesn't necessarily try to win the fight because he knows he's already going to win. He can just pace himself. But what about the other side of that coin? What about the other side of the coin that says let's finish this guy? You know, let's lap the person when we're racing them. Let's not win by having the next person behind me be 30 seconds behind me. Let's have him be a minute behind me.

Speaker 1:

And I think it's fascinating, if you actually just slow down and think about that, how there's already a thing, unfortunately, called procrastination, and the world, the universe, is so dedicated to it. They even put something called a snooze button, which I call the procrastination button. Right, why would you ever have an alarm go off and have another button that says basically like are you sure you want to get up or are you sure you want to do this right now? Let's just postpone it for five minutes, or something like that? No, that's a dumb button, that's like a lazy button. If you use a snooze button, you're basically officially lazy, unless you're just trying to turn it off real quick and that's the only button that you tap into right. But an intentional snooze is intentionally procrastinating. So that's a crazy little button if you think about it.

Speaker 1:

But yeah, I was just thinking the other day because I had a situation to where I was ahead of schedule and then I knew that if I ended up taking longer to do things that I needed to get done before the end of the night, if I actually slowed down, if anything happened or if something popped up or something took longer than I expected. I basically wasn't going to be going to bed at a certain time at the time that I wanted to, so I just drove through. And it was funny because, sure enough, there was something that happened and it took longer than to get done than it planned. But by pushing forward and essentially saving time kind of like you can save money in a checking account I was saving time. I was banking those minutes ahead of my schedule. If anything happened as something did okay, I would still be ahead of schedule, something did okay, I would still be ahead of schedule.

Speaker 1:

So it I feel like it's just something really awesome and fun and huge and smart and more to think about implementing. And I'm I'm already past this point, I'm done doing this, I'm done Right, uh, which is um, uh, if you don't procrastinate, we'll take it one step further and stay ahead of schedule and increase that lead. So, yeah, because something might happen or something that is already planned might take longer than expected. This way you stay ahead of schedule and you stay on target. So interesting thought, theory, concept and application. So, again, these are all my opinions, but one more repetition by me saying it out loud and if that helped you, that's great and without further ado. I'm Benji. Well done, check me out, peace.
