Hi, this is Whitney and you're listening to Exploring Peace Meditations. I invite you to take a few moments and settle into a comfortable posture Now, take a full breath, soften your body a bit, close your eyes if that feels safe and okay. Allow yourself to arrive fully in this moment, welcoming God's presence with you. Our practice today is Lectio Divina on John 1427 from the Common English Bible. Sacred reading. That's our invitation for Lectio, and as you hear the passage read the first time, just listen as if Jesus were with you right now. Hear the words spoken to you. Peace I leave with you. My peace I give you. I give to you, not as the world gives. Don't be troubled or afraid as I read again, what word or words does Christ want you to hold onto today? Peace I leave with you. My peace I give you. I give to you, not as the world gives. Don't be troubled or afraid.
Speaker 1Now, in the next few moments of silence, hold your word or words before Christ. Now listen again this time, as you hear these words spoken to you, what emotions arise in your heart? What do you feel? It might help to imagine Jesus gazing upon you now. See this in your mind's eye and hear these words Peace I leave with you. My peace I give you. I give to you, not as the world gives, don't be troubled or afraid. World gives, don't be troubled or afraid. Pause and notice what arises. Sit with any emotions or insights. I'm going to take a deep breath. Now listen again. This time imagine that you get to respond to Jesus. What do you want to say back to God about this gift of peace? Hear Christ, speak to you and then, in the silence, imagine your reply Peace I leave with you. My peace I give you. I give to you, not as the world gives. Don't be troubled or afraid. In the silence, respond to God. Thank you Listen one final time. Let go of thoughts and words. Simply rest in what you've received and how it feels to welcome God's peace today, no matter what is happening in your life or in the world around you. Peace I leave with you. My peace I give you. I give to you, not as the world gives. Don't be troubled or afraid In these closing moments.
Speaker 1Breathe deeply, rest, rest in God's word, rest in God's peace. Rest in God's peace, rest in God's offer to not be troubled or afraid, but to welcome the peace of Christ. Today I'm going to take a deep breath. Most holy and loving God, thank you for your gift of peace. Shower it upon us these days. Let us receive it when our hearts feel troubled or afraid. Remind us to open our hearts, our minds and our hands to your gift of peace. In your holy name we pray Amen. Thank you for exploring the gift of God's peace with me.
