Hi, this is Whitney and you're listening to Exploring Peace Meditations. Today's invitation offers you a Yoga Nidra for inner peace. As you begin to find a reclined, relaxed posture. Relaxed posture. Settle your body into the mat, the floor, the bed, the couch, wherever you find yourself. Notice the space beneath you. Give yourself permission to relax into that space.
Speaker 1The practice of Yoga Nidra invites you to be still, but remember to breathe deeply. Follow the sound of my voice. If you fall asleep, that's okay. The practice continues. Let us welcome inner peace together.
Speaker 1Take a deep breath in Slowly exhale, repeat that again, letting go of any tension on your exhale. Now, as you breathe, naturally feel yourself becoming more relaxed, more open, more receptive to this time of stillness. Give your brain and body permission to release the concerns of the day and simply be present here, now, with God. Turn your attention inward and set a peaceful intention for your practice today, a word that speaks to your heart. A word that speaks to your heart, maybe that God wants you to claim. It may be something as simple as I am at peace, I am resting in God's presence, I am held in stillness. Take a moment to claim your intention with an I AM statement. Repeat these words to yourself three times. I am Now. Take another full breath in and a long breath out and a long breath out. Let your breath find a rhythmic, gentle, natural flow as you begin to relax your entire being, starting at the crown of your head. Bring your attention to your forehead. Soften the forehead, the space between the eyes. Relax across the bridge of the nose. Soften the cheeks and the jaw, the entire face. Relax your shoulders, chest. Relax your right arm, right hand, right fingers, fingers. Relax your left arm, left hand, left fingers. Soften your navel, your belly, the sides of your chest, the back of your chest. Relax your pelvis, your buttocks. Relax your right leg, right foot, right toes, foot, right, toes. Relax the insides of your body. Invite your organs to relax and let go. Soften your heart space, soften all the organs in your belly and core. Allow your whole being to be held by God. Welcome inner peace On your next breath in.
Speaker 1Imagine breathing in the word peace. Now imagine breathing out the word peace. Feel each inhale and exhale like a wave, a wave of peace. Allow your breath to remind you of God's peace, that it flows within you now, in this very moment. And now bring to mind a place that feels peaceful and serene to you. Perhaps it's a beach, a forest, a mountain, a sanctuary, a sunroom. See this place that feels peaceful and serene in your mind's eye. Serene in your mind's eye, feel the calm that surrounds you when you imagine yourself in. Let God's peace expand within you. Continue to visualize your peaceful place, noticing the colors, the temperature, the surroundings.
Speaker 1Breathe and see the peace you're grateful for Something that brings you peace. Allow a sense of gratitude to bloom within you as you see and visualize what you're grateful for today. Feel this gratitude radiate from your heart, spreading warmth and peace throughout your body as your awareness returns to your breath. Breathe in and out like an ocean wave, flowing steady and consistent. The gift of God's peace. Inhale peace, exhale peace.
Speaker 1If it's helpful for you, count your waves of peace. Start with the number 10 and go backwards. I'm going to take a deep breath, release your counting and continue to breathe. I invite you to return to your intention that we set just a bit ago I am. Claim your words, repeat them to yourself, whether they were the ones I offered or ones that evolved as you relaxed. I am at peace, I am. Repeat your I Am.
Speaker 1Statement three times Most holy and loving God. Thank you for your gift of peace for this time, to cultivate that within us. With each breath we breathe, may we carry forth your peace. Hold it within ourselves, share it with those we love and for whom we are grateful. In your holy name we pray Amen. When you are ready, gently bring your awareness back to your body. If you're planning to drift off to sleep, stay right where you are To return to your day. Wiggle your fingers and your toes. Notice how you feel than when you first began this practice. When the time is right, roll off to your side, take a full breath in and out. Rise up and carry God's peace with you. Thank you for exploring the gift of God's peace with me.
