Hi, this is Whitney and you're listening to Exploring Peace Meditations. I'm glad you're here. Today we'll practice a simple breathwork exercise that invites us to discover calm and balance in our body, reducing stress and making space for thankfulness and peace. So find a comfortable posture. If you're seated, allow your spine to be long and tall. If you're lying down, make sure that your belly has space to expand. Once you're comfortable, gently close your eyes. Bring awareness to your breath's natural rhythm. No need to change it, simply observe, notice. Now I'll guide you in a slow and steady pattern of breathing, inhaling for a count of five and exhaling for a count of five. This gentle rhythm will help calm your nervous system ground in the present moment, and it can help you make space for thankfulness and peace. So let that be our intention today, as we breathe Thankfulness and peace. To begin, let's inhale through the nose for a count of 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. Exhale 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. Continue at this or your pace, counting to 5 with your inhale and your exhale. Inhale 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. Exhale 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. One more time, inhale 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. Exhale 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. Pause and notice your Rhythmic breathing Now for the next few moments, make this gentle wave of a breath flow through you, inhaling to your count of five, exhaling to the same count of five. Repeat that three times. This time as you breathe, we'll continue with the even full inhalation and exhalation. Make sure you're breathing deep into your diaphragm and exhalation. Make sure you're breathing deep into your diaphragm. And let's add some thankfulness and peace. On your next inhalation, say to yourself I am thankful On your next exhalation, I am at peace. Inhale, I am thankful. Exhale I am at peace. Offer this rhythmic breathing, these affirmations to God, offer your breath and your words. Say them to the one who gives you breath and life and gratitude and peace, and gratitude and peace. Inhale, I am thankful. Exhale I am at peace. Continue this for a few more cycles, breathing slowly, rhythmically, fully and steadily. If you prefer numbers to words, go back to counting. If you prefer the words, repeat them for the next few moments. If your mind wanders, just return to your breath and being in God's presence Inhale, I am thankful. Exhale, I am at peace, thank you. Take a moment to notice how your body feels. Let your breath find any pattern that feels right for you right now.
