Paul the Apostle closes Colossians chapter 2 with five spiritual adherences that have been  fulfilled in Christ. He calls them a "shadow." a Shadow has no substance. It is darkness. But they did serve a purpose. they pointed people to Christ. Now that we have Christ, the shadow can flee away!
