If there is one non-debatable in life, it is the importance of being honest with ourselves and about ourselves. This also has to do with being honest before God. If you think about it, He knows all anyway. Nothing is hidden from Him.
This is going to be a lesson for Jonah. Things do not turn around to the good for him until he begins to be honest about his sin. Perhaps this is a lesson for all people. The protection against the storm is not an umbrella but honesty.
