Closing The 30-Day Project
SPEAKER_00Okay, friend, we did it. Today is day 30 of this 30-day daily podcast project. I am so glad that you are here with me. Uh, if you haven't listened to my reflection and wrap up like kind of the good parts from yesterday, please do that because I think it's really important to, you know, think about and hear both sides of the coin, the good and the kind of air quote bad. I don't really believe there's any bad, but um just for sake of ease, I guess it's easier to call it the good and the bad. Um so today is going to be talking about sort of what I didn't love about it, what are some things I would do differently, what are some things that um, you know, that I just didn't love about the project. Um and so I just wanted to share that with you as well, because that is an important part of an evaluation process anytime we finish a goal or a project. So while I did love the spontaneity of the project as I discussed yesterday, I'm also kind of over it. Like the fast fashion kind of feel of it has been really good to me in so many ways and in so many habits and so many projects that I've done, where it's just make something that's good enough, get it out there, don't overthink it, make it super easy, don't perfect it, just get it out into the world. And I still very highly recommend that for people, especially if you are having a hard time getting started, or if your like kind of perfectionism is turning into procrastination, turning into paralysis, and you're just not doing the damn thing. I think a really good smart way to do it is to just get it out into the world, um, even if it's not like up to your full standards. But having said that, I am really craving a slower, more deliberate, more calm pace. I'm craving more of a deep dive. So I am going to go back to weekly episodes for now. Um, I'm also really hankering for um writing and art and creativity and slowing down and sinking into a project. So I've really been contemplating starting uh a creative blog to share my art and my writing, my quilting, sewing, painting, whatever it is that kind of floats my fancy in that kind of art and creative space. Um, and to allow myself to just sit with ideas and thoughts and art for longer. Um, so if I do end up doing that, I I used to be a blogger many, many, many, many years ago. Um, and if I do return to that, I will certainly let you know. I'll still continue the Show Up Society podcast, but um, I may have just sort of longer form content also. So I will let you know if I decide to actually do that. Um so also this daily project of mine and the way that I did it, uh in some ways was like kind of bad business. So the number one driver for my coaching business is my podcast. So almost every single client that comes to me has listened to multiple episodes of my podcast. So I even had one recent client who had listened to over 70 episodes before she decided that she was ready to work with me. Um, but for these past 30 days of the project, I didn't have an intro or an outro telling people who I am, what I do, what I help with, who I help, or how to work with me, right? So usually those are in my intro and outro. So it makes it very clear for people that maybe I might be the coach for them. So anybody that just found my podcast now for the first time during these 30 days, they're like, what is going on here? There are some days when the sound quality is not great. Who is this lady? Can she help me? Does she even help people? Like, is she a life coach? Does she have a business? They have no idea that I'm taking clients or how I could help them. And what's so funny about this is this is something that I work with my clients on so frequently. So I help them work on showing up in their businesses and telling people about what they do, who they help, who they are, how they work, how to work with them. And we work on doing it more often. And here I was not doing the very thing that helps me grow my business. Here I was not doing the very thing that I'm telling my clients to do. No, it was the right decision for me at the time. It was the right decision for this 30-day project, and I completely stand by my choice. I'm not like shaming or blaming myself. I totally own the choice that I made because my priority for these 30 days was to release a daily episode. And the only way that I could do that at this particular time of my life was to have no intro, no outro, to just record it on the phone, upload it, and be done with it. You know, so during this time I had kids at home from college. I was launching a group coaching program, I was speaking on several podcasts, I had a full client load, I was present in the group coaching program that I just launched. Um, and so I had a lot going on. And so I just didn't really have the capacity to make, you know, to make the podcast as perfect as it could be with the intro and the outro. So, like I said, I stand by this choice, but in the future, I will find an easier way to let people know who I am, how I help, how they can work with me, um, even if it is a daily podcast. So this might even be something like me just kind of giving a quick two-sentence version of that, like live on each episode, right? So it's not a pre-recorded intro-outro. It might be me just recording it like on the spot. Um, but that's something that just kind of um is definitely something that I would do differently in the future. Uh, another thing is my brain really likes daily habits because it takes out a lot of the decision making. It takes it out of the equation. So I'm not spending any energy on will I do a podcast today or will I not? And what day will I do it? And what day will I record it? What day will it come out? I just have already made the decision. I'm doing a podcast today and I'm publishing it today. I'm doing a podcast today, publishing it today. Uh so having said that though, I mean, that has worked really well for my brain. I have kept at least one daily habit since 2009. There has not been a day since 2009, and I'm recording this at the beginning of 2026, where I haven't done at least one daily habit. So my brain works really well with this daily thing. However, I have several other habits that I am reintroducing or re-establishing in 2026 or more specifically in February of 2026. And this particular daily podcast habit is not one of the ones that feels good enough to me right now to keep. So I may return to it in the future, but for right now, it feels a little more taxing than it does rewarding. Um, so even though I got really good feedback on the dailyness of it all, I had people that were like, I love this daily episode. Um, it's just not the right energy fit for me right now because I have other things that are a little bit higher priority for me to do every day. Um, but like I said, I may revisit this later this year. I may not. We'll see. Um, I think that's about it for the things that I would do differently or that I didn't love. Um, and I always like to end projects and goals with a bit of gratitude. So I wanted to just thank you so much from all the parts of my heart, not just the bottom of it, but the top and the middle and the sides also. Thank you for being here. Thank you for your comments. I actually just found a few pieces of fan mail today that somehow I didn't notice until now. So, especially uh if you have sent me those, I thank you so much for sending those. Thank you if you have ever left me uh an email or an Instagram DM or a message on Facebook or threads or anywhere else. Um, thank you so much for taking the time out of your day to reach out to me and connect with me about this podcast. Uh, it feels so good to know that I'm connecting with somebody out there in this big old world. So that wraps up the 30 day project, and I will see you next week with a weekly episode. And thank you so much for being here. Love you, friend.
