S3E6 Renee Mitchell: Frameworks to Overcome Racism, Develop Resilience, and Creating Beautiful Empowering Art from your Pain...
It is difficult to describe how incredible Renee Mitchell is. She was an award winning journalist for 25 years, nominated for 2 Pulitzer Prizes, and named Number 1 newspaper columnist in the 5 Western States. She has also co-created the I Am More black youth resilience program which is the only program in Oregon to win two social-emotional learning innovation awards from Novo. Then, to fight the anxiety, stress, and depression of COVID, she created the Black Joy Virus which is a community enrichment campaign tapping into the strength and tremendous resilience of black people and black culture that have always made a way when there is no way and to find joy even in the midst of incredible challenges...
I was blown away, both by the accomplishments of Renee, but also her superpower of being able to take her pain and turn it into incredible artistic beauty. It was truly inspiring!
