Kevin Palmieri

(0:00) There's something we've talked about many times. (0:03) We call it the pain pleasure pendulum. (0:05) And when you swing that thing all the way to hell, no, you are more willing to swing it all the way to hell.(0:11) Yes. (0:11) But this is why it's very hard to make a new decision. (0:14) If you're not in pain yet, unfortunately.

Alan Lazaros

(0:17) I just had one of the coolest experiences I've ever had in coaching someone earlier. (0:22) And I am very excited to share this because I think there's a big takeaway in it.

Kevin Palmieri

(0:27) Welcome to Next Level University. (0:29) I'm your host, Kevin Palmieri, and I'm your cohost, Alan Lazarus. (0:34) At NLU, we believe in a heart-driven, but no BS approach to holistic self-improvement for dream chasers.

Alan Lazaros

(1:09) Welcome to Next Level University.

Kevin Palmieri

(1:15) Next Level Nation today for episode number 2,140. (1:19) How quickly do you go from pain to decision? (1:23) All the time when I'm on podcasts, we're talking about my story.(1:27) We talk about your story and I say, unfortunately, I think pain is a requirement in transformation. (1:35) I don't know why. (1:36) I didn't decide it.(1:37) I didn't design it that way. (1:38) I wish it wasn't that way, but I do believe that is one of the requirements because if you're not in that much pain, you're not willing to go through that much more pain to feel good. (1:47) And Alan has a good story.(1:48) So I'm just going to kick it to you because you have a cool story and I want to make sure we can go in length with that story.

Alan Lazaros

(1:53) Got a new client this week, last week, last week. (1:57) And this is my third session with this man. (2:00) And he gave me permission to share all this, but I don't want any clients to think that I'm ever going to share anything.(2:05) So I'm keeping all things anonymous now, but you know who you are, brother. (2:08) This was fucking hilarious. (2:11) So this was earlier today.(2:13) We're on a call and first of all, he's three days into tracking, set up, set him up with a tracker.

Kevin Palmieri

(2:18) Boom, boom, boom. (2:19) I was like, awesome. (2:20) Is he a multi, multi, multi-millionaire yet?(2:24) Three days in or no? (2:25) Actually, he's pretty close.

Alan Lazaros

(2:27) No, he's on his way. (2:28) No, he's not a multimillionaire yet, but he is crushing it. (2:32) Started his business in March.(2:33) I said, again, anonymously, I said, how are you doing? (2:37) What are we talking revenue wise? (2:38) Usually that's a touchy subject for early entrepreneurs because entrepreneurship's terrible.

Kevin Palmieri

(2:43) There's usually none, right?

Alan Lazaros

(2:44) Yeah, there's usually little to none. (2:46) So what are we averaging month over month? (2:48) He's like, well, I don't really know the average.(2:49) I said, okay, year to date. (2:51) He's like, well, I started in March and I'm sitting there going, oh, we're fucked. (2:53) You started in March, so you've made no money.(2:55) Got it. (2:56) He's like about 170. (2:58) Like it's hard work.(2:59) $170,000. (3:01) How many months has it been with, so you're averaging 40 grand a month. (3:04) I was like, this is gonna be fine.(3:06) This is gonna be great. (3:07) He's like, dude, this niche I'm in. (3:08) Awesome.(3:09) So anyways, shout out to you, brother. (3:11) But he's tracking. (3:13) And I said, dude, you have no idea how hard it is to get people to track.(3:16) Strong work. (3:17) Thank you. (3:17) Not a single missing cell.(3:19) Everything's done. (3:19) Boom. (3:21) We're on the call and we're going through these three buckets of time that I have.(3:24) And I've done this on the podcast too. (3:26) And there's essentially three buckets. (3:28) Obviously the first one is directly profitable activities.(3:32) The second one is indirectly profitable activities. (3:36) A good example would be this podcast. (3:38) This is for free.(3:39) Everybody gets this for free, but it leads to directly profitable. (3:44) So coaching is directly profitable podcasting for me and Kevin is indirectly profitable. (3:49) Okay, awesome.(3:50) And then there's not profitable. (3:52) And as an entrepreneur, unless you want to go out of business, you better get rid of as much not profitable stuff as possible. (3:58) And if you want to be at every barbecue and that kind of thing, you're in some trouble as an entrepreneur.(4:02) And I've said that before. (4:04) So we're going through the not profitable bucket. (4:06) Obviously, I'm trying to get to know this guy.(4:08) And I said, brother, all the love, I'll be the pain in the ass. (4:12) You thank one day. (4:13) Where are you wasting time?(4:15) There's 168 hours in a week. (4:17) He sleeps eight. (4:18) So that's eight times seven.(4:19) That's 56. (4:20) So you got 112 left. (4:23) Something like that.(4:25) Oh, the numbers.

Kevin Palmieri

(4:27) 168 minus 56.

Alan Lazaros

(4:29) I just, all my stuff just fell over. (4:32) Grabbed my phone. (4:33) You're at 112, I think, right?(4:35) 112. (4:35) One second. (4:36) 168 minus 56.(4:38) Yeah. (4:38) Awesome. (4:39) So we've got 112 hours left.(4:40) This is on zoom. (4:41) Boom, boom, boom. (4:42) I got the picture of the three buckets up.(4:44) It's actually plants. (4:45) And anyways, I said, Hey brother, where are you wasting time? (4:49) Talk to me.(4:50) Usually this is a really touchy subject. (4:52) Quite frankly, everyone out there watching or listening. (4:54) I don't want to be a dick, but I do got to say everyone wastes time.(4:58) Everybody has something they know is just fucking a terrible use of their time that they're just doing constantly. (5:05) And so he has one, every client does, you know, and uh, I do too, by the way. (5:12) Uh, what's mine?(5:12) Movies. (5:13) Fucking love them. (5:14) Obsessed with movies.(5:15) Love them so much. (5:17) Okay. (5:18) Everyone think of yours.(5:19) But anyways, so his is he, his brother, this video game, video games, man. (5:24) He's like, my wife hates it. (5:26) I said, what's your poison?(5:27) I'm a, I used to play a lot of video games, man. (5:30) Halo two, all the stuff we connected nerded out a bit. (5:33) And I think he said, I don't know the name of the game.(5:36) It's a first person shooter online. (5:39) The big one. (5:40) There's a big one.(5:41) A fortnight. (5:42) Maybe. (5:43) It sounded like a spinoff of that.(5:45) Maybe. (5:45) Is that on Xbox? (5:47) I have no idea.(5:48) I've never played it. (5:49) Okay. (5:49) Anyways, he said, first person.(5:51) I said, what are we talking per day? (5:52) On average? (5:53) He said, brother, brother.(5:55) I'm like, I know, I know. (5:57) He's like probably like two fucking hours. (6:00) And I'm like, dude, do you need me to crunch the numbers?(6:02) He's like, no. (6:04) I said, all right, it's my job to make you successful. (6:07) I will consider myself a failure.(6:09) If you're not successful, this is next level coaching. (6:11) This is business coaching. (6:12) Like we got to have a conversation.(6:14) I said, do you want to put it on your tracker and like do it minimum of an hour, maybe minimum hour and a half. (6:19) I said I've had clients in the past that go from two hours to one and a half to one to half an hour. (6:23) And eventually they wean off.(6:24) You want to wean off? (6:26) He says, no, fuck that. (6:28) He says, I'll be right back.(6:30) He takes out his headphones. (6:32) He goes and gets his fucking Xbox and he throws it in the trash. (6:37) And he's like, we're good.(6:39) It's over. (6:39) I was like, that's the coolest thing I've ever seen. (6:43) And I said, I said to him, I kid you not or on zoom.(6:46) I'm like, do you think you should probably sell it? (6:50) You know, this is Xbox isn't cheap. (6:53) I don't know what it is.(6:53) He's like, honestly, I'll probably get 200 bucks for it. (6:56) I'm gonna have to put it on Facebook. (6:57) I said, brother, he said, I make more an hour.(7:00) Like, no, let's just, let's just move on. (7:03) And I had a moment and I was like, I'm going to make this dude so successful. (7:08) And here's why I say this often.(7:10) The science of achievement doesn't give a shit about your feelings. (7:13) It doesn't care that you like Xbox. (7:14) It doesn't care that you like games on your phone.(7:16) It doesn't care about your feelings. (7:18) It doesn't care that you like boats and whatever you want to do. (7:21) It just doesn't give a shit because it doesn't have any emotion.(7:24) Business is, is business. (7:28) And I had this moment of this dude is going to be so successful because he's spraying prey right now. (7:33) Dude does 40 cold calls yesterday.(7:37) Cause I'm like, do you want to add any habits? (7:38) He's like 10 cold calls. (7:40) And I was like, brother, are you gonna be able to sustain that?(7:42) He's like, he says, let me check. (7:44) He looks at his phone live. (7:46) He says, well, I did about 40 yesterday.(7:48) I was like, so wild. (7:50) Oh my God. (7:51) He's like, well, I didn't talk to 40 people.(7:53) I said, brother, I know. (7:54) Okay. (7:54) You got 40 voicemails.(7:56) I'm just kidding. (7:57) But the point is, is we're going to be fine. (8:00) And I said, have you always had this work ethic?(8:02) He said, back in the day, looking back, like back in the day, I didn't know, but looking back. (8:09) Yeah. (8:09) That's totally what got me here.(8:11) I said, brother, you're spraying prey. (8:13) We're going to crush.

Kevin Palmieri

(8:14) What does that, what does that mean? (8:15) Most people probably don't know what that means.

Alan Lazaros

(8:17) Yeah. (8:17) It means you're basically running. (8:19) So in a, in a video game analogy, if you're playing call of duty or another first person shooter, you're just running around with a gun, shooting, shooting blanks.(8:26) It's like, it's like hunting, but you don't know what you're hunting for. (8:28) Just hoping to hit something, hoping to hit something. (8:30) And, and I said, I'm going to make you a fucking sniper.(8:32) I said, done. (8:34) Awesome. (8:35) And the point of this for all the listeners, rather than me just rehashing this awesome moment is there are some people that it would have taken six months to make that change.(8:44) It took this dude six minutes. (8:46) He will dominate. (8:48) I'm certain.

Kevin Palmieri

(8:49) When you say, so this is how quickly do you go from pain to decision? (8:55) You essentially created, I don't want to say you created the pain. (9:00) Why didn't he do it sooner?(9:02) Cause when you told me, you said he was talking about like, I know, I've been fucking up for a minute. (9:06) I've been trying. (9:06) I know.(9:07) Why did it take, why would it have taken six months and why did it only take six minutes?

Alan Lazaros

(9:13) I think this is the reason. (9:14) And I'm not certain, but number one, everyone, we did the five pointed star. (9:20) Everyone this dude is around is an achiever.(9:24) And now that I'm in his corner too, he's definitely, he compares up. (9:29) And it's good to compare up if you have high self belief, which he does. (9:33) And now that I'm in his corner, I think what created pain is he saw how I operate.(9:38) He's seen my systems. (9:40) He knows now that he's winning, but he's winning by spray and pray. (9:43) And he, I think wants to be more next level.(9:47) And I think he's sick and tired of mediocrity. (9:50) And so when you're around someone who makes you and he handles me very well, we don't butt heads or anything. (9:58) And a lot of guys I struggle with, but I think I probably coach maybe a third men and two thirds women.(10:06) I think I'd have to look. (10:08) But what I think happens is you get around someone who makes what you're doing look like child's play and it makes you uncomfortable on the ego level. (10:18) And some people respond very positively to that.(10:20) He does. (10:22) He's like, yeah, I've been thinking about this a long time. (10:24) It's not.(10:25) And I'm that way too. (10:26) I've lifted weights with people that warm up with my max. (10:31) That's good for me.(10:32) That's like the next day I'm so fucking motivated. (10:36) It's unbelievable. (10:39) That's not how everyone is.(10:40) That's how he is. (10:41) I can tell. (10:41) And it's, he just needs to be around more next level people.(10:46) He's big fish, small pond. (10:47) And he knew that. (10:49) And that's why he's paying for coaching.(10:52) You pay to be around someone who makes what you do look like child's play. (10:56) Now he's crushing it and I'm proud of him. (10:57) But when it comes to execution and focus and all that kind of stuff, and I know he wouldn't mind me saying this, it's not close.(11:03) And I think that that's why you get a coach. (11:06) You're supposed to get a coach who's way more dialed in than you so that you, I mean you had a fitness coach that would eat you and that was a benefit.

Kevin Palmieri

(11:15) Statistically, he's statistically one of the best in the world. (11:18) Yeah. (11:19) Right.(11:19) Like way, way, yeah. (11:21) Way, way, way better than me. (11:22) Way better.(11:23) Why was that good for you? (11:24) Cause I think that's the conversation. (11:26) Couple of things.(11:27) One, I was very confident in fitness already. (11:30) So him being drastically better than me did not mean I was bad. (11:34) I didn't internalize it.(11:35) That's one. (11:36) And then number two, I knew he knew we, you get advice all the time from people who don't know. (11:46) Right.(11:46) I mean, I remember when I was a younger man, when I was a teenager, there'd be these old dudes who used to try to tell me how to, how to exercise. (11:55) I was the worst. (11:56) It was the worst.(11:57) I would pay money to see them do that with you. (11:59) Well, here's the thing. (12:00) At the time, I didn't really know what I was doing.(12:02) So I was probably very receptive to it. (12:04) And I probably just appreciated that anybody cared. (12:07) I could, I mean, that hasn't happened to me.(12:09) And I couldn't tell you the last time.

Alan Lazaros

(12:10) So watching people try to coach you who don't have the That is your favorite thing.

Kevin Palmieri

(12:16) It is your favorite.

Alan Lazaros

(12:17) It is. (12:17) I get it.

Kevin Palmieri

(12:19) I appreciate it. (12:20) I want to be kind. (12:21) Yeah.(12:21) I want to be right. (12:22) I want to be, I want to be kind, but there was like, it happens all the time. (12:27) Like, well, you know, have you ever, have you ever thought of maybe kind of approaching the, the speaking from, it's like, thank you.(12:34) I appreciate it. (12:35) I appreciate it. (12:36) Thank you.(12:37) I actually coach people on how to speak, but thank you. (12:39) I appreciate it. (12:39) I appreciate that so very much, but I do, I don't want to be toxic.

Alan Lazaros

(12:42) I want to be nice thinking in your head.

Kevin Palmieri

(12:46) You're, you're just unaware of, I know you're trying to add value, but I think a piece of it is also you want to feel good. (12:57) So there's like something to it. (12:58) Like you want to leave this conversation, thinking that you delivered something to this conversation.(13:02) And I appreciate the fact that that is what you're doing, but this ain't it. (13:07) There's many categories that I don't know. (13:09) There's many categories that I don't know.(13:12) Teach me one of those. (13:13) Teach me one of those. (13:15) I'm not going to teach you how to parent.(13:17) I'm not going to teach you how to parent. (13:19) I don't know anything about it. (13:22) How delusional, how arrogant when I have to be, to be like, Alan, have you ever, when you have children, have you ever rocked little Jeffrey in a certain way?

Alan Lazaros

(13:30) Little Jeffrey. (13:32) I'm not naming my child Jeffrey. (13:34) No, that's funny.(13:35) No, definitely not. (13:36) No, I'm not a fan of the name. (13:38) Maybe Kevin?(13:41) You know, I would fucking never do that. (13:44) With love, little Kevin.

Kevin Palmieri

(13:46) That's funny. (13:47) Maybe like, you know, maybe after the, I don't know, eighth most impactful person in your life. (13:51) I get fired up.(13:54) I get fired up internally. (13:55) All right, let's, let's get back to the, let's get back to this. (13:57) Well, inside your head, true or false, you say I'm way ahead of you.(14:01) Well, yes. (14:01) Why are you teaching me? (14:02) Yes.(14:03) Yeah. (14:03) And there's a little piece of me that's like, how do you not know? (14:10) I know.(14:11) How do you not know on my head? (14:13) I think that's why fitness is such an, nobody corrects me in fitness. (14:18) Very few.(14:18) Actually, I had somebody comments on my squat form on one of my videos and I was like, Oh Jesus, here we go. (14:25) Person was jacked. (14:26) Thank you.(14:27) Appreciate it. (14:28) And I know that they said your heels are coming up a little bit. (14:30) I know.(14:31) I know my heels are coming up a little bit. (14:33) I fucking haven't been doing mobility. (14:34) I'm out here slacking.(14:35) I'm out here slacking.

Alan Lazaros

(14:36) Like I'm convinced it's not real. (14:38) I know you're joking. (14:39) Obviously.

Kevin Palmieri

(14:40) I still have to do some research based on what has to get done from a mobility respect.

Alan Lazaros

(14:46) NLU listener. (14:47) What is happening? (14:48) I just wanted to jump in here and let you know if you want to get to the next level faster, we have a free virtual monthly meetup at the first Thursday of every month.(14:57) You can connect with like-minded people and become a bigger part of this amazing global community. (15:02) The link to register will be in the show notes.

Kevin Palmieri

(15:06) Here's the thing. (15:07) I was doing Romwod every day before the gym for a long time. (15:12) Then I read and researched and learned that that type of stretching is not good before weight training because it lengthens the muscles, which actually stiffens the muscles.(15:23) And that's how you get injuries. (15:24) And I was like, interesting. (15:25) And then I just never replaced it with anything else.(15:27) Like, fuck it. (15:28) I'm just going to do nothing then. (15:30) So we're going on like six months of no mobility.(15:32) Feel the best I ever have, honestly. (15:34) I'm very honest.

Alan Lazaros

(15:35) No one listened to a word he said for the last minute and a half. (15:39) Listen to it. (15:39) Just don't practice it.(15:41) Do mobility. (15:44) So the point of this episode is how quickly do you go from pain to decision?

Kevin Palmieri

(15:48) Yeah.

Alan Lazaros

(15:48) And your question was, why did he suddenly make that? (15:51) I think it really comes down to he already was right there. (15:55) He was already in enough pain to where he had been.(15:58) His wife was annoyed by it. (16:00) He was annoyed by it. (16:01) We all are annoyed by ourselves all the time.(16:04) Like we don't admit it because it's a status hit, but internally your highest self is saying, what the fuck man, why do you keep doing this? (16:15) And he just, all I had to do is give him that little push. (16:18) Brother, you already know what I'm going to tell you.(16:22) Okay. (16:23) Let's crunch the numbers for the listeners. (16:25) Two hours a day.(16:26) Let's do this real quick. (16:28) Two times three 65.

Kevin Palmieri

(16:30) Seven 30. (16:32) No dude. (16:33) Ready?(16:34) Seven. (16:34) Yeah.

Alan Lazaros

(16:34) Seven 30 91 eight hour shifts.

Kevin Palmieri

(16:42) Three months.

Alan Lazaros

(16:44) Ninety one. (16:45) Eight hour shifts. (16:46) This dude makes a lot of money per hour.(16:49) Watch this. (16:50) Two times three 65 and I asked him, I'm not joking. (16:54) I know you're listening brother.(16:55) I asked him, I said you planning on being a pro gamer? (16:59) He said, no. (17:00) I said, do you have any friends that you play with?(17:02) He's like, no. (17:04) So this isn't even socially beneficial. (17:06) He said, no.(17:07) Dumbest shit ever. (17:08) I said brother. (17:10) And he's like, I'll be right back.(17:12) He just can't 730. (17:14) Let's say, and he makes a lot of money. (17:15) Let's say he makes on average just 50 that's 37 G's per year that you burn gone just from playing Xbox.

Kevin Palmieri

(17:25) Spoiled.

Alan Lazaros

(17:26) I know people think I'm out of my mind. (17:28) I know people think I work too much. (17:30) I get it.(17:30) That's why. (17:32) That's why you're building your future. (17:35) And when you're playing Xbox, you're not building your future.(17:38) You're not. (17:39) Well, just like when I'm watching film, I get it, but it's all right. (17:42) Well, that's the thing.(17:44) That's the food.

Kevin Palmieri

(17:45) Yeah. (17:45) That's the potential differences. (17:47) Like, okay, it fills your cup.(17:49) You're watching inspiring films.

Alan Lazaros

(17:50) Intentional recovery. (17:51) I asked him that too. (17:52) Is this good for your RNR?(17:53) He said, no, it's actually jacking me up right before bed. (17:56) All this. (17:56) Yeah.

Kevin Palmieri

(17:57) You know, competitive gaming is a whole thing. (18:00) I don't even know where my PlayStation is. (18:04) I don't think at this point, at this point.(18:07) So I had a same, I shout out to you, brother. (18:09) I don't know you, but from the story, you sound like you and I, I feel like we get along pretty well. (18:14) I was, I was fucking hammering PlayStation four.(18:17) I loved it. (18:17) I was like, I'm going to get really good at call of duty. (18:21) And then Alan sat me down and he's like, dude, fucking up.(18:24) And I was like, ah, I'm fucking up. (18:26) And then I dialed it way, way, way down. (18:29) And the only time I ever play is when I go to mats.(18:34) I bring it down. (18:36) We set up two TVs and we play together that way. (18:40) Outside of that, I have not set it up in Cod.(18:45) Yeah. (18:46) Nice. (18:46) Well, I haven't set it up.

Alan Lazaros

(18:47) I would rather, again, too many people think I'm nuts. (18:51) What, what, what would this Kevin say? (18:54) Go back in time when I told you, Hey, you're fucking up.(18:57) What would you say to that Kevin? (19:00) Because that Kevin had a sincere interest to be a successful business for sure. (19:03) For sure.(19:04) And if you don't, you don't have to listen to a word I'm saying. (19:05) If you don't want to be successful, you don't have to listen to any of this.

Kevin Palmieri

(19:08) My, all my thing would be is I think you, you're better at jumping from like all to nothing or nothing to all. (19:16) The advice I would give is replace that two hours with something else. (19:22) To start, you have to throw away your, I mean, again, if you, if you know you're obsessive and it's like, I'm going to find a way to unlock this thing and get it hooked back up, whatever, do what you got to do to get rid of it.(19:31) But for me, it was like, well, I'm not going to work. (19:35) It's not, I'm not going to be working during that time. (19:37) Right.(19:37) I'm not going to be working from eight to 10. (19:39) That's good. (19:40) This is going to be my R&R.(19:41) Was it R&R for you? (19:42) No, it was fucking mayhem. (19:43) I'm getting, I'm getting jacked up too.(19:45) I'm getting adrenaline dumps. (19:46) It's like, Oh my God, I'm thinking about it before I go to bed. (19:49) Like I really wish I made that move instead.(19:51) Strategizing about cod instead of our company. (19:53) That wasn't it. (19:54) That wasn't it.(19:55) So I would say, well, what is something that would be more aligned for your goals? (20:00) Go lay in bed. (20:01) Okay.(20:01) You want to watch Netflix? (20:03) Go start there and then do that with your wife. (20:05) And then as a by-product of that, you'll probably end up going to bed earlier.(20:09) You'll be more relaxed. (20:10) You guys will be more connected. (20:11) Maybe you'll have more deep talks that check so many boxes off.(20:16) So that is the advice I would have given Kev of Kev. (20:19) I'm not saying you have to dump Xbox and go sit in the office from eight to 10. (20:23) I'm not saying that you're already grinding your face off, but do something more constructive and stop fucking kidding yourself.(20:30) It's not constructive.

Alan Lazaros

(20:31) Kev brother, brother, you, you know, it's not that constructive rationalization. (20:38) I call it rationalize. (20:40) It's rational lies.

Kevin Palmieri

(20:42) I got to tell you, rationality is the hardest book I've ever tried to listen to. (20:47) Really? (20:48) It is fucking brutal.

Alan Lazaros

(20:50) Yeah. (20:50) I don't know if it's, it's not super well written. (20:53) In my opinion.(20:54) I just think it's, it's the most important concept in the world.

Kevin Palmieri

(20:57) I got to start over. (20:58) I, I went from book to book. (20:59) I don't know.(21:00) I was like a quarter of the way in and I started reading something else, listening to something else. (21:04) I went back to it and then I started listening to it yesterday. (21:06) I was like, I need to go all the way back.(21:08) I don't even know what the fuck they're talking about at this point.

Alan Lazaros

(21:09) I need to talk about bullying algebra yet.

Kevin Palmieri

(21:12) No, it was like if, what was it?

Alan Lazaros

(21:16) Yeah.

Kevin Palmieri

(21:17) Behind door number one. (21:18) And no, no, I got past that. (21:20) I got past that.(21:21) The, the, the part I'm at now, they were talking about like experts say that if this doesn't change, this is going to happen. (21:28) Well, that doesn't actually mean this is going to happen. (21:30) It's like a, if then statement, but Oh yay.(21:34) A doesn't equal B unless a actual equals a, the fuck are we talking about? (21:39) I know. (21:40) So what do you mean to know any of this?

Alan Lazaros

(21:41) Do I know you do?

Kevin Palmieri

(21:42) Yeah.

Alan Lazaros

(21:42) So a plus B can't be more likely than just a, yeah, that. (21:50) Yeah.

Kevin Palmieri

(21:51) Yeah.

Alan Lazaros

(21:51) What's that? (21:52) So, um, what are the chances? (21:55) So Kevin and I are hanging out and we're both by a lake.(22:00) What's the probability Kevin is fishing versus the probability Kevin and Alan are fishing. (22:05) And what he's trying to get people to realize is that mathematically the probability of just Kevin fishing has to be higher than the probability of Alan and Kevin fishing. (22:12) Interesting.(22:13) Even though in our narrative story brain emotionally, it's like, well, they're fishing together and they love each other and they're having so much fun. (22:20) It's, it's not rational. (22:21) It's stupid.

Kevin Palmieri

(22:22) But in our case, I feel like the probability of us fishing together is actually higher because we would never fish alone. (22:29) No, you don't think so. (22:30) Well, that is the equation.

Alan Lazaros

(22:36) Um, you know what I mean? (22:39) What's the equation?

Kevin Palmieri

(22:40) Yeah.

Alan Lazaros

(22:40) What's the probability of Kevin fishing near a lake? (22:43) Zero to 100%. (22:45) Zero to 100%.(22:46) It's a hundred percent. (22:48) No, what else am I doing by the lake?

Kevin Palmieri

(22:51) You could be sunbathing, hanging out. (22:53) Yeah, I lay it out. (22:54) Yeah.

Alan Lazaros

(22:55) From this fail because I'm laying out.

Kevin Palmieri

(22:57) Yeah, yeah. (22:57) Cause I'm laying out.

Alan Lazaros

(22:58) No, I can't do this. (23:00) We don't have time. (23:02) This is the hardest part of my life.(23:04) I kid you not. (23:06) Hmm. (23:06) I sent the entire NLU team a map of all of mathematics applied in theory, applied mathematics and theoretical mathematics.(23:14) And my hardest, I listened to me on an episode recently, a clip came through. (23:19) It was so bad. (23:21) And I'm not trying to be mean to me.(23:23) It's like, dude, no, this yesterday, too much yesterday's episode. (23:28) No, you're funny. (23:32) It, I was explaining too many concepts simultaneously and the concepts while I was explaining the concepts needed deeper explanation on the concept.(23:43) So it's like a concept within a concept, within a concept, within a concept. (23:46) And it's, I lost them. (23:47) I could see it on their face in the clip.(23:49) It's like, damn, just answer the fucking question. (23:51) But I, it's not that easy because it's not two plus two equals four, man. (23:57) You're like, well, what's the equation?(23:59) Are you kidding me?

Kevin Palmieri

(24:00) Do you have any idea what you just asked me? (24:03) I think in my mind, it's like probability of Kevin fishing near a lake. (24:07) You said 100%.

Alan Lazaros

(24:09) That's the dumbest shit ever.

Kevin Palmieri

(24:11) 80% probability of a lake.

Alan Lazaros

(24:13) Not fishing.

Kevin Palmieri

(24:16) Yes. (24:17) Thank you. (24:18) I regret to admit I have exactly.

Alan Lazaros

(24:21) What if you don't have a pole? (24:22) What if I forgot my pole? (24:23) What if we only had one pole?(24:24) What if we're walking and talking instead of, we only had one pole.

Kevin Palmieri

(24:28) We could fish together. (24:29) One hand each. (24:30) I'll reel you hold.(24:32) All right.

Alan Lazaros

(24:32) What's your next little lesson? (24:33) Read Rationality if you haven't read it yet. (24:35) I promise.(24:36) Worst read of all time, but very valuable.

Kevin Palmieri

(24:38) Speaking of being rational, you are going to be rationally late if we don't get off here. (24:41) What is the next level lesson for you, sir?

Alan Lazaros

(24:44) There are intelligent choices you can make that will automatically increase the probability of your future being far better. (24:51) And you know it, and I know it. (24:54) And if you're like him and you bite the bullet, what's the one thing you can do now that solves a thousand future problems?(25:01) For me it was quitting drinking. (25:02) For him it was quitting drinking seven years ago and then quitting Xbox seven minutes ago. (25:07) It was more than seven minutes ago.

Kevin Palmieri

(25:10) Mine would be the pain you are avoiding now is also holding you back from the pleasure you want in the future. (25:20) That's what I would say. (25:22) Cool.(25:22) All right. (25:23) Next on the nation. (25:23) We have the next level dreamliner.(25:25) If you want to dreamline slash journal your way to success, we'll have the link in the show notes for that. (25:32) And what else we got? (25:33) When's the next meetup?(25:34) I'm going to meet up coming up. (25:35) We do.

Alan Lazaros

(25:36) It's the top 10 reasons people aren't more successful. (25:39) I think that's next week, isn't it? (25:41) Next Thursday.(25:42) Next Thursday, which is the second first. (25:46) It's not next Thursday. (25:47) Sorry.

Kevin Palmieri

(25:47) No, it's not.

Alan Lazaros

(25:48) Yeah. (25:49) Yeah. (25:49) No, it's the 7th of August.(25:50) Okay. (25:51) The link will be in the show notes. (25:53) The top 10 reasons people aren't more successful.(25:55) Statistically speaking, a lot of people are not achieving their goals and dreams. (25:59) Don't be one of those people. (26:00) I've got you.(26:00) We've got you. (26:01) I'm excited. (26:02) Please join us.(26:03) The it's free. (26:04) The registration link will be in the show notes. (26:06) And if you are sick and tired of allowing yourself to not change and keep telling yourself a story that you change in coaching, it's my job to help you make the changes you want to make.(26:18) Just like that story earlier. (26:20) It's unbelievable what your future can be when you make these really important decisions. (26:25) And when you have someone in your corner, every fighter needs someone in their corner, really pushing them.(26:31) Boom.

Kevin Palmieri

(26:31) All right. (26:32) As always, we love you. (26:33) We appreciate you.(26:33) Grateful for each and every one of you at NLU. (26:35) We don't have fans. (26:36) We have family.(26:36) We'll talk to you all tomorrow. (26:38) Keep it next level. (26:39) Next level nation.(26:42) Thanks for joining us for another episode of Next Level University. (26:47) We love connecting with the Next Level family.

Alan Lazaros

(26:49) We mean it when we say family. (26:51) If you ever need anything, please reach out to us directly. (26:54) Everything you need to get ahold of us is in the show notes.
