The right push changes everything. In this episode, Kevin and Alan explain how to recognize the people, environments, and standards that actually move you forward. Not all motivation creates growth. Some of it only makes you feel better for a moment. The right kind challenges your identity, sharpens your self-awareness, and builds real self-respect.
This conversation breaks down the difference between temporary energy and lasting progress, why confidence becomes fragile when it depends on outside validation, and how productive pressure raises long-term performance. For anyone serious about personal development, consistency, and confidence, this episode is a reminder to choose better boosters.

Kevin Palmieri
(0:00) If you are a late 80s or early 90s kid, you have probably played Mario Kart and you know when you're behind, you're getting your ass kicked, you just got shelled, you see that little booster and you line your kart up with that booster and it flies you off the cliff and you pick up a few spaces.
Alan Lazaros
(0:18) There's no reason you can't do that in real life, just different. (0:21) In real life though, however, in Mario Kart, when you're behind, you are more likely to get a star or better items. (0:31) In real life, that is not how it works, so try your best not to fall behind.
Kevin Palmieri

Kevin Palmieri
(1:24) Next Level Nation today for episode number 2480, where are your Mario Kart boosters? (1:32) I remember we went to a live event, I think it was a Brendan Burchard event, and this wasn't a negative thing, I wasn't judging people, it was just a thought I had. (1:46) How many of these people are never going to pick these notebooks up again?(1:52) They're getting this dopamine hit, they're dancing around, they feel good, they're in a high state, right? (1:59) They're in a high energy. (2:01) And yeah, it's a Mario Kart booster, but it's not actually one that's going to stay.(2:06) They're going to feel good for the next three days and then they're just going to go back to the way they were before. (2:10) Why are you fucking smiling?
Alan Lazaros
(2:12) Two reasons. (2:13) One, I spilt it myself. (2:14) Number two, and more importantly, I really want us to unpack the resistance bands.(2:23) I do. (2:24) We have to do it.
Kevin Palmieri
(2:25) Yeah, but I don't want to be public about it.
Alan Lazaros
(2:31) Hey, we both respect Anthony. (2:34) It's all good, brother.
Kevin Palmieri
(2:36) That's now it's said.
Alan Lazaros
(2:37) That is the perfect example of a Mario Kart booster versus actual results. (2:43) It's the perfect example. (2:45) That is fair.(2:46) I went into, I kid you not, all right, I was a fitness model at the time, 43 photo shoots, three fitness competitions. (2:51) I was in great shape, okay? (2:53) Whatever.(2:54) Awesome. (2:55) The point is, I was leading by example and I was doing my damn thing. (2:59) We had met up with a couple, I don't know if I'd call them friends, people we met at the event, awesome.(3:03) I went to the little fitness morning thing. (3:06) They are using towels to curl with partners, okay? (3:12) That's fine.(3:13) If you want to fucking get in a circle and do curls with towels, you do that, okay? (3:20) Anthony Trucks was in the NFL. (3:22) Anthony, I love you, brother.(3:24) Anthony came to book club. (3:25) We used his book in book club. (3:26) Love you, brother.(3:28) You did not get in shape with towels. (3:32) You got in shape. (3:33) He told us he cleaned and pressed 280 for reps.(3:37) It was something crazy. (3:38) I can't clean and press. (3:39) I can't even bench 280, man.
Kevin Palmieri
(3:41) That's crazy.
Alan Lazaros
(3:42) That's crazy. (3:42) Not close, right? (3:43) Can you bench 280?
Kevin Palmieri
(3:45) I don't know. (3:47) No, I don't think so.
Alan Lazaros
(3:49) For anyone who might not know, what is a clean and fucking press of 280?
Kevin Palmieri
(3:54) I mean, it's not- It's not record breaking? (3:59) It's on the higher end.
Alan Lazaros
(4:01) For reps?
Kevin Palmieri
(4:02) It's close to a lead. (4:04) Yeah, yeah. (4:05) When you take it from the ground, you bring it up to your shoulders, and then you press it over your head.
Alan Lazaros
(4:13) How many times could you do that? (4:16) With 280?
Alan Lazaros
(4:17) Yeah.
Alan Lazaros
(4:17) Zero times. (4:18) Same. (4:20) Same.(4:20) Zero. (4:21) All right. (4:21) Now, that's how he got that physique.(4:25) And when you go in and see them do it, it's just a little bit challenging for me. (4:32) And we talked about this at the event, and we would talk to Anthony about this. (4:34) He was on the show.(4:35) You actually reviewed that episode recently. (4:38) Yeah.
Kevin Palmieri
(4:39) The in-person one, yeah.
Alan Lazaros
(4:40) Yeah. (4:41) And it's like these resistance bands are very useful when you're on the road if you want to check the box of exercise. (4:51) However, if you want to be an NFL player, or an American Ninja Warrior, or all the things that was in his highlight reel, you cannot use towels or resistance bands.(5:02) You have to do the big five. (5:06) You know, lat pull-downs, pull-ups, deadlifts, overhead press, bench press, incline press, decline press, these things, squats, you name it. (5:20) And I have seen this a thousand times, and I'm not blaming Anthony for this, but I've seen this a thousand times.(5:26) And I'm trying my best not to do this. (5:29) When we say, hey, we made 90 grand in a day, blah, blah, blah. (5:32) You can't make that kind of money and start a company that, you know, grosses over a million dollars.(5:40) We're crossing the $2 million mark soon. (5:42) You can't do that with any rah-rah horse shit. (5:48) You just can't.(5:49) You don't want to know what really got us here? (5:51) The fact that Kevin's in Missouri right now recording at nine o'clock at night. (5:56) That's what really did it.(5:58) And I don't want to be a part of that. (6:00) I can't. (6:01) I'm not going to sell you resistance bands and tell you you can look like me.(6:05) And that's not what they said explicitly, but it is the impression they give off.
Kevin Palmieri
(6:08) That was always my thing from the very beginning. (6:11) Like when we started doing events, it's like, I'm never going to dance. (6:14) Like, I'm not going to be the guy who comes out on stage and dances.(6:17) I think that's dumb. (6:20) I've never, I think it's fake. (6:22) I've no, I'm never, I'm not going to do it.(6:24) I will never do that.
Alan Lazaros
(6:26) You've never seen me do it either. (6:27) I did air guitar once. (6:29) Yeah, you want it.
Kevin Palmieri
(6:29) And I was like, fuck, this is so stupid. (6:31) Like, why are we doing this? (6:32) This is so fake, but I understand.
Alan Lazaros
(6:35) I understand why changing physiology.
Kevin Palmieri
(6:37) That's about it. (6:38) No, I don't care.
Alan Lazaros
(6:39) No, no, that was a very short time that I wanted to do that.
Kevin Palmieri
(6:43) That was like one time.
Alan Lazaros
(6:44) That was like, yeah, I wanted like a pretty hardcore training.
Kevin Palmieri
(6:47) Well, I think that's the other hard part too, is like, what's a Mario Kart booster for one person's not going to be for somebody else. (6:54) You know, this, this whole thing came from you talking about, I'll let you do it, explain it, but it came from a client, like feedback you got from a client. (7:03) And, but on the other end, you also said like, yeah, there are some clients where it's not, it's not always a Mario Kart booster.(7:09) Sometimes it's a, it's a, the Mario Kart shell where you spin out for a little bit and then you come back. (7:14) That's good stuff. (7:15) Right.(7:15) Come back.
Alan Lazaros
(7:17) Yeah. (7:17) And then you come back better.
Alan Lazaros
(7:18) Yeah.
Alan Lazaros
(7:20) Uh, I had a client earlier who has been working with me for only a month or a month and a half maybe. (7:27) Uh, and he said, I always feel he didn't say jacked up. (7:34) I always feel energized, charged after my calls with you.(7:40) And I said, that's, that's awesome. (7:41) That's good. (7:42) That's exactly what it's supposed to be.(7:43) I'm supposed to be now. (7:46) Sometimes it is, there's one client I'm thinking of who's listening and it's like, listen, sometimes you're supposed to have like an existential crisis after our calls. (7:56) So just, you know, proceed with caution.(7:59) But I've gotten that feedback for 11 years. (8:02) You and I used to spend every Monday together. (8:04) Every conversation we've ever had.(8:06) I hope you leave it feeling like, fuck. (8:08) Yeah. (8:08) Like believing in yourself.(8:09) I like to inject belief. (8:10) I try really hard to inject belief. (8:12) And he said this, this is his words, not mine.(8:14) He said, it's very obvious. (8:16) I know some people get offended, but it's obvious that you believe in me. (8:19) That's why you're hard on me.(8:20) And it's like, I wish everyone felt that way, man. (8:23) Because that's really it. (8:24) Like, if I didn't believe in you, why the fuck would I waste my breath?(8:28) It's like, I'm frustrated because he said, you see people's potential so deeply. (8:33) And so, so obviously what you might not see is the struggles they have that you don't. (8:38) It was like, that's exactly it.(8:40) That's why now I say, listen, I don't struggle with anxiety. (8:43) I don't struggle with self-doubt. (8:45) Like I have all these disclaimers now before I work with like anybody.(8:48) And you're going to feel unseen and misunderstood. (8:51) And like, I'm, I'm, if you're not careful, like you have to be honest with me because I will push you too hard. (8:55) Like I'm, this is like more of a bootcamp than it is like a, a therapy thing.(9:00) And then we, I'm working with Amelia and she's doing the inner work while I'm doing the outer work. (9:04) So that's been helpful because now I can just focus on peak performance coaching and I don't have to worry about any of that other stuff. (9:10) So I do my thing.(9:11) She does her thing and she's trauma certified. (9:13) But yeah. (9:14) So at the end of the day, my point of this whole thing is where are you getting energized?(9:22) Where are you getting the Mario Kart boosters? (9:24) And then who do you feel actually is, is who do you feel wants to see you win? (9:33) Because it might be different than you think the person who wants to see you win might not be the kindest, or maybe they aren't the most fun.(9:44) Yeah. (9:45) But, but who's the one who really, like, if you close your eyes, like this person really wants to see me win, they really want to see me grow. (9:51) They really want to see me reach my full potential.(9:52) They really want to see me win. (9:55) They want to see me live my best life that, and, and I hope that all my clients feel that way. (10:03) And the people who I know not to work with now definitely don't feel that way.(10:07) And I, I am very careful about, I have an acronym that I use to make sure I don't coach those people anymore.
Kevin Palmieri
(10:12) What's the difference between a Mario Kart booster and a cup filler? (10:16) One is like inner.
Alan Lazaros
(10:17) One is, one is to, to propel you towards your goals and might feel terrible. (10:21) A cup filler feels great. (10:24) So if I watch an old movie that I love, like dress park or something, like while I'm cooking, it's a cup filler, but that's not helping me reach my potential.(10:31) I mean, maybe it is, but it's not like a challenge. (10:34) You know, I, I am curious.
Kevin Palmieri
(10:41) That's a deeper conversation. (10:42) We'll save that. (10:43) But like, I'm convinced this, there's certain things that are Mario Kart boosters for me that are cup fillers.(10:49) Wait, what? (10:50) I think there are certain things that are Mario Kart boosters for me that are also cup fillers, but they're cup fillers first. (10:58) I'm convinced.
Alan Lazaros
(10:59) What's the difference seeing them in your mind?
Kevin Palmieri
(11:02) I think to your point, Mario Kart booster is like, I mean, when you get that zoom, you like you have back in your seat. (11:09) Yeah. (11:09) And you have to direct it.(11:11) Otherwise it'll go off. (11:12) I think a cup filler is like, I don't know, man. (11:16) I know I beat the golf thing to death, but there's like something about it.(11:19) It makes me feel really successful.
Alan Lazaros
(11:22) Like that, that goes further than, yeah, but it doesn't challenge you to be more successful. (11:29) Golfing is great. (11:30) It's self-esteem.(11:31) And maybe not if you're doing terrible. (11:33) No, no, it does not help my self-esteem at all. (11:35) It hurts my self-esteem, but I'm feeling there.
Kevin Palmieri
(11:39) It helps your self-esteem. (11:41) Yeah. (11:41) But it's like, I don't know, man.(11:42) It's weird. (11:43) There's certain things when I, the leaner I get, it's like that there's something to that. (11:49) It's like, it puts a little swag in your step.(11:53) And I don't know.
Alan Lazaros
(11:54) So is it self-respect?
Kevin Palmieri
(11:56) I don't know what it is. (11:58) Having a little money in the bank does that for me. (12:01) I dude, it's like, I don't know.(12:03) I was thinking today, it's like, travel isn't really like, it's not that bad. (12:07) Cause I don't, I don't have to look at my bank account every time I do something. (12:11) I went downstairs to get a fucking powerade.(12:12) It's like, just charge the room.
Alan Lazaros
(12:15) Yeah. (12:15) Hey, travel is so much worse without money. (12:19) Everyone will agree with that.(12:21) Dude, travel is the worst without money.
Kevin Palmieri
(12:23) We did it for so long.
Alan Lazaros
(12:24) Yeah, of course we did.
Kevin Palmieri
(12:26) That's the product. (12:27) We did it for so long. (12:29) Yeah.(12:29) So I don't know. (12:30) That's, that's, uh, I'm excited to, so I'm doing coaching with Allen and Emilia separately. (12:35) I'm excited because I think there's something there for me with the internal stuff that you don't fully understand.
Alan Lazaros
(12:41) Definitely.
Kevin Palmieri
(12:42) That you don't fully understand.
Alan Lazaros
(12:43) Well, I don't know if I get the self-esteem versus self-respect thing. (12:49) And maybe that's episode for another time. (12:51) But for me, I get self-esteem from things that build my self-respect.(12:55) I don't get self-esteem from like anything easy ever.
Kevin Palmieri
(13:03) Is that, is that, uh, go deep here for a second. (13:07) Is that like a make little Allen proud thing?
Alan Lazaros
(13:11) I don't know.
Kevin Palmieri
(13:12) That's where I go.
Alan Lazaros
(13:13) When I crushed at Toastmasters, I didn't get that much self-esteem from that. (13:18) It doesn't help me to like, oh, I crushed everybody. (13:21) Like I don't care that I don't, I mean, yeah, I did great.(13:24) Awesome. (13:25) That doesn't do it for me. (13:27) When you, for me, all that matters is that I'm doing as good as I believe I can do.(13:35) And I don't, when I compare to others, it's like, yeah, I was, I mean, there was some really bad speakers there.
Kevin Palmieri
(13:40) I would say that publicly. (13:41) Don't you always like feel yourself? (13:44) I think probably for you.(13:45) Yeah. (13:46) I think, you know, we were talking about how my, what, like my energetic set points lower.
Alan Lazaros
(13:52) Yeah, definitely. (13:53) There are certain things that raise my energetic set point. (13:56) I lower mine around other people.(13:57) I did it in LHF. (13:58) I did. (13:59) I lowered it a lot.(14:00) Um, because I think it makes other people uncomfortable when I'm, I gave a speech and it was just kind of like rah, rah, a little bit. (14:08) And, and it was like, I dialed it down. (14:10) I dial it so far down.(14:11) Like in my head, it was like, yes, next level, the future's next level. (14:16) You know, it's like, and nobody cares. (14:19) Right.(14:19) So, uh, they did and it was heartfelt, but it's not, it's not what I like, dude, I mean it like I'm going to, we're going to keep reaching our full potential. (14:30) Like I'm, I'm very, I dialed down. (14:32) I do.(14:32) I dial down constantly. (14:33) Yeah. (14:33) When I'm behind the scenes, I'm very, very tenacious and intense.(14:38) And, and usually I dial it way down in public. (14:42) Like you even said, it's like based on what I saw, dude, that was way dialed down. (14:46) That was me being like playful and friendly.(14:48) I realized afterwards, I was like, shit, I, I started out strong and then I just let it, I let it go. (14:55) Um, whereas at Toastmasters, I gave myself a moment. (14:58) I was like, just crush it.(15:00) Like, don't dial down at all. (15:01) Just, just come, come full, full, uh, Alan. (15:06) And it was great, but I didn't, I gained self-respect for not dimming.(15:09) I didn't gain self-esteem from doing well. (15:11) Like I already know I'm that good.
Kevin Palmieri
(15:13) I don't know. (15:14) There's something there. (15:16) Like Sunday morning, I go, I go pick up coffee for Tara and I like, there's something about that.(15:20) I don't know how to explain it. (15:23) I know it's not optimal financially to spend $13 on coffee. (15:26) I understand.(15:27) Don't care. (15:28) It feels good, but not like in a, it feels like a net win for the future. (15:35) I, that's the best way to explain it.
Alan Lazaros
(15:38) My self-respect and self-esteem is more tied to the future than yours is for that. (15:43) I know. (15:43) And that's, that's, and there's some other things, obviously it's not just that, but like, I do think for the listeners, what do you tie your self-respect to?(15:51) What do you tie your self-esteem to? (15:53) Like my, your, your self-esteem is much more tied to money than mine is like your, what the amount in the bank account would affect Kevin's self-esteem a lot. (16:02) And mine would be like not affected at all, but my performance affects mine a ton based on my own analysis of my own potential.(16:10) Like that marathon was fucking so poorly executed. (16:16) Like I, it bothers me to this day because if I had done it even remotely reasonably well, it wouldn't have gone so horribly. (16:23) And maybe it's you versus you.(16:26) And, but what do you tie your self-respect to? (16:28) What do you tie your self-esteem to? (16:30) Do you compare to yourself and your potential?(16:33) Or do you compare to others? (16:34) Like for me, very little, if anything, I actually feel bad about myself. (16:39) If anything, the Toastmasters made me feel bad, not good.(16:43) Like, why did I have to be so, I don't know, I shouldn't have to stick it to them. (16:49) You know what I mean? (16:50) And I didn't, it's, it's not rational.(16:52) Like that's my exile of, you know, cause they're there like trying to get better. (16:57) And I'm just like, you know, coming in hot with thousands of reps. (17:01) And if anything, I just feel like some people in there probably felt pretty bad.(17:06) And I don't, that doesn't do it for me.
Kevin Palmieri
(17:12) I think it's again, I don't know. (17:15) I don't know what the journey is supposed to be. (17:16) I don't think it's supposed to be anything.(17:18) I find myself comparing far less to other people and far more to my potential, but for the vast majority of the time it started, I needed it. (17:28) I needed it. (17:30) I needed it.(17:31) I don't know, dude, I don't know how to explain it. (17:32) I did legs on Sunday. (17:33) No, Saturday, heavy legs, great leg session.(17:36) I go to the coffee shop with my hoodie on and dude, I don't know how to explain it. (17:40) Like I just, it's like a, it's like a high. (17:45) It's like, this is fucking awesome.(17:47) This is the best. (17:48) I don't know how to explain it. (17:51) I don't know, but I'm telling you right now, it wasn't like that when we were fucking broke.(17:55) It wasn't like that at all. (17:57) Yeah. (17:58) And like, there's, but you can't like, when I get out of my car, there's something about it, but you can't rely on it.
Alan Lazaros
(18:03) Like it can't be for you can't rely on it because then you can't, you can't risk if you rely on it. (18:10) Now you have to play not to lose. (18:13) So that's why you played not to lose because you needed it.(18:16) Quote unquote. (18:17) Whereas, and that's why people say, try not to tie your self-esteem and self-respect to things outside of you. (18:22) I try really hard to tie my self-esteem and self-respect to how well I am doing based on my own standards, but that can be detrimental too.(18:31) Cause you're telling people, and again, Kev was kind about this, but it's like, you're like, dude, no one thinks you're proactive. (18:37) It's like, why do you think I was early next level? (18:39) Hope I'm I'm something has changed now.(18:41) Now I'm not going to be Mr. Perfect by any means, but I do know what you mean now. (18:46) It's like, dude, I'm the most proactive person that I know by far, but no one would think that when I had eight back-to-backs today, seven, you're competing against yourself. (18:57) I'm competing against myself.(18:58) And, and what, what I was doing in between, like I, I, I sold another package today. (19:03) Like no one is going to know, no one cares. (19:06) All that matters is what they see.(19:08) And I asked Kev this once I said, what do they think I'm doing? (19:10) He said what they'd be doing. (19:12) And I'm, and sometimes that's nothing.(19:14) And it's like, oh, that's never what I'm doing. (19:18) Almost never. (19:19) So at the end of the day, everyone needs to figure out and, and win your own game and make sure, make sure that you're pouring into the self-respect.(19:31) This is what I'm going to say at the end. (19:33) We'll go pour more into the self-respect bucket than the self-esteem bucket. (19:37) Remember the episode I went off about self-esteem movement, this whole, like everybody gets a trophy and all that, that is detrimental.(19:45) Neuroscientifically detrimental. (19:46) Now you need self-esteem. (19:47) You do, but it should not be at the expense of your self-respect.(19:51) If I had to choose between self-esteem and self-respect, I'm choosing self-respect every time. (19:56) And I think self-respect is belief in your own abilities. (20:01) It's belief in your capabilities.(20:03) It's belief in your competence. (20:05) And I think self-esteem is belief in your value, usually socially, not always, but a lot of times it's socially. (20:12) And if it's socially, now you're, now you have to look good.(20:14) And now you're playing the high school game instead of your own game.
Kevin Palmieri
(20:20) My question would be, where are your Mario Kart boosters? (20:22) That's the whole point of this episode, right? (20:23) Where are they?(20:24) Are they in coaching? (20:25) Are they in doing something challenging, going for a run? (20:28) Whatever it is, whatever it is.(20:29) I think one of the reasons I used to love like really hard cardio is because that was like a little booster every time I used to love. (20:36) I still do just a matter of like, I want to be Jack though. (20:42) You know, I can't let go of the strength thing.(20:47) I don't think I can, I don't think I can let it go.
Alan Lazaros
(20:49) Whatever you value most, prioritize it, prioritize it. (20:53) I saw the, with hundreds for reps incline, great form, truly jealous of your gym, dude. (21:03) Just got bought.(21:04) Somebody just bought it. (21:04) I don't know what's gonna happen. (21:05) Dude, my gym sucks.(21:08) Two minutes away. (21:09) It's all good. (21:12) Dude, your gym is so nice.(21:14) I very rarely have FOMO. (21:16) Dude, I have straight FOMO.
Kevin Palmieri
(21:17) Yeah. (21:18) Again, number one, it was a good angle. (21:19) Number two, like those are the dumbbells that they have, but there's many things missing and or broken.
Alan Lazaros
(21:24) Oh, for sure. (21:25) But dude, it's a warehouse. (21:26) The ceilings are huge.(21:27) Come on. (21:28) There's probably some animals there.
Kevin Palmieri
(21:30) No, everybody left. (21:32) Everybody's gone. (21:33) Some days, it's just me and Bruce.(21:35) Dude, straight up. (21:35) Yeah. (21:36) They opened a Crunch right down the street.
Alan Lazaros
(21:38) Is it awesome?
Kevin Palmieri
(21:39) I haven't been, I won't go.
Alan Lazaros
(21:41) Why not?
Kevin Palmieri
(21:43) Because if I go, I won't come back. (21:47) What if it's better? (21:49) I like, dude, I kind of like having an empty gym.
Alan Lazaros
(21:55) Oh, okay. (21:55) That's fair.
Kevin Palmieri
(21:56) I used to need people. (21:57) Like it used to help me. (21:58) It's like, that really revs me.(22:00) I like it.
Alan Lazaros
(22:00) Dude, I think it, the more you believe in yourself, I think the more it will drain you. (22:04) The less you believe in yourself, I think the more it will energize you. (22:07) I don't know what that is, but I've noticed that I am less and less energized by others.(22:13) The more and more I believe in myself. (22:18) I don't, and I have a lot of clients and I've been kind of thinking about this a lot lately. (22:28) When I first started lifting, I think I liked a full gym that was like getting after it.(22:32) Now I don't feel like, I feel like if anything, it actually holds me back when the gym is empty. (22:37) I get way better workouts, way better workouts, not just because the stuff's available, but I think because I don't have to override that, like dial down thing. (22:47) Yeah.(22:48) I want to dial all the way up. (22:49) And when I'm alone, it's, it's, it's not hard to dial up.
Kevin Palmieri
(22:53) All right, squad. (22:54) That's the question. (22:54) Where are the Mario Kart boosters?(22:56) If you're looking for a Mario Kart booster, when it comes to fitness, today is the final day to sign up for the next level fitness accountability, 10 pound in 10 week challenge. (23:05) So if you're listening to this, it on Wednesday, it is July 1st, all you have to do. (23:09) So you can reach out to Alan and or myself, whether it's in one of the WhatsApp groups, you're already in with us or on Instagram or Facebook, whatever.(23:15) I don't care. (23:15) You can email me, send me a fricking pigeon, whatever we do.
Alan Lazaros
(23:19) Starting weight, goal weight, final weight, July 1st to September 8th, 70 days, 10 weeks, 10 pounds in 10 weeks. (23:30) You can choose your own start weight and goal weight. (23:32) You can't choose your own start weight.(23:34) You can choose your own goal weight, weigh in for your start weight.
Kevin Palmieri
(23:37) You can choose your own start weight. (23:38) Just make sure it's the right one.
Alan Lazaros
(23:39) Yeah. (23:39) Yeah. (23:39) You know it.(23:40) So I actually answered my own question in this episode of the belonging thing. (23:45) So, so the reason why I think people who believe in themselves a lot want to work out alone in this context is because I think belonging theory says that we are all a part of a tribe and nobody wants to be so, so different that you don't fit in in the tribe, but you don't want to be too far behind and you don't want to be too far ahead. (24:13) And it's just belonging.(24:14) So for me back when I used to lift with you and Matt and you guys were stronger and dialed in, that was a Mario Kart booster for me. (24:21) But eventually it stopped being one, not because of you guys, but because I started to level up. (24:27) And the point that I'm making with this is if you, you got to get around next level people.(24:34) And there's something to this too. (24:35) I will, if I'm the leader or leading and I take the leadership role consciously, I think I can override the like fit in thing. (24:46) Kevin and I are going to lead this 10 pound in 10 week challenge.(24:49) Kevin and I in this fitness community have been doing fitness for longer than anyone in that community. (24:55) From my understanding, maybe Bianca, but honestly, probably not. (24:59) If you put all the years together, we are leading this thing, get around people better than you get around people more dialed in than you get around people that are, have higher standards than you.(25:08) It will push you and we will be respectful and it's going to help you. (25:13) You have to get around people that are ahead of you. (25:16) Because I was just thinking to myself, if I was in a gym where everybody was ahead of me, would I still feel the same way?(25:22) I probably would like it.
Alan Lazaros
(25:23) Yeah.
Alan Lazaros
(25:24) Right. (25:25) When I run with Emilia, I do, I run slower. (25:29) When I run, if I ran with someone who was really fast, I'd probably run faster.(25:33) Just that have belonging theory. (25:34) All right. (25:35) Last piece.(25:35) Monthly masterclass is this week. (25:38) If you're listening to this, it is literally tomorrow, Thursday. (25:42) Understanding your primary core wound and what to do about it.(25:46) It is live on zoom one hour, totally free registration link will be in the show notes, invest in yourself next level, monthly masterclass. (25:54) And these core wounds I've been using in coaching. (25:58) They will help you understand what you're playing, not to lose.(26:02) Everyone is playing, not to lose something. (26:04) Some people are playing not to lose relationships. (26:06) Some people are playing not to be seen as a failure.(26:09) Everyone's playing not to lose in something. (26:11) Once you identify your core wound, you can overcome it.
Kevin Palmieri
