What if the strength you rely on most is quietly limiting your success? In this episode, Kevin and Alan share why lasting personal growth requires more than confidence, ambition, or hard work alone. They break down the four traits that shape sustainable success: self-belief, drive, humility, and willingness.

Learn how unchecked strengths can become blind spots, why high performance without self-awareness creates problems, and how to identify the trait currently holding you back. This conversation offers a practical framework for building discipline, stronger character, and a more balanced approach to your goals. Rate yourself honestly. Your blind spot is not going to send you a meeting invite.

Kevin Palmieri

(1:08) Next Level Nation today for episode number 2,520, The Other Side of the Coin No One Talks About. (1:17) This is your episode, so I'm just going to kick it right to you. (1:21) You ready?(1:21) We're going to keep this to a tight 17-minute episode. (1:26) I love you all so very much, and I need to go to bed because I'm the longevity guy now, so I have to make sure I get enough sleep. (1:32) Got to lead by example here.(1:34) You know it. (1:35) So, are you ready? (1:37) I was born ready, baby.(1:39) When you stay ready, you don't have to get ready.

Alan Lazaros

(1:41) Right. (1:42) It was supposed to be a pun because I want us to check our readiness score. (1:46) Ah.(1:48) I have a point, I promise. (1:49) What is your readiness score currently? (1:51) Mine's not great.(1:52) It's not a good look.

Kevin Palmieri

(1:52) Oh, on Aura?

Alan Lazaros

(1:54) Yeah.

Kevin Palmieri

(1:55) Probably less than ideal, but I'll take a guess. (1:58) Mine is fair.

Alan Lazaros

(2:00) Not a good look today.

Kevin Palmieri

(2:01) Mine is 77, which is good.

Alan Lazaros

(2:05) Nice. (2:05) Mine says schedule some downtime for fuck's sake. (2:09) I'm joking.(2:09) It does say that. (2:10) It does say 67 fair. (2:12) Okay.(2:12) Okay. (2:13) Readiness score. (2:14) What does that mean?(2:14) Aura is saying, hey, you've been grinding. (2:19) You've been working hard. (2:21) You are not in peak.(2:24) You're not as refreshed and recharged as you could be and should be. (2:28) Okay. (2:30) Well, the Aura is basically trying to say, don't go run a marathon right now.(2:36) You're not in optimal readiness. (2:40) The same is true for success. (2:42) And if we want to get everyone ready, it's a very cool concept.(2:44) And one of them is called the willingness score. (2:47) How willing are you? (2:50) One of my clients told me a story about a woman he knew who he was super impressed by.(2:57) She worked at Porsche. (3:00) Okay. (3:01) Corporate.(3:02) Yeah. (3:03) Yeah. (3:03) With me so far.(3:05) Gets fired and or quits. (3:06) I forget. (3:07) Sorry if I'm butchering the story.(3:09) Okay. (3:12) A friend of hers says, it's okay. (3:14) I got you.(3:15) We're going to go sell tickets to this cruise line on the streets in Florida. (3:21) You game. (3:23) She does it.(3:24) This person telling me this story, that was a cred build, not a credit hit. (3:28) She has a high willingness score. (3:31) If you're willing to sling tickets on the street, assuming it's safe to a cruise liner to make extra money, you have a very, very high chance of success.(3:41) I was in group coaching on Tuesday. (3:43) We kicked Kev out. (3:44) So he wasn't there.(3:45) I'm joking. (3:46) But I said this, I said, ready, everybody. (3:52) Imagine Kevin and I's future.(3:55) Based on your current awareness of us now. (3:58) Level up yourself, level up your podcast, level up your business. (4:01) Imagine our future.(4:01) Imagine our goals. (4:02) Imagine, imagine what we're capable of, whatever you think. (4:05) Okay.(4:07) Now I want you to picture that in your mind. (4:08) You got it. (4:09) Now imagine we were only willing to work 10 hours a week.(4:15) Oh, how much did that plummet? (4:18) What we are capable of just plummeted. (4:21) And I said, well, that's not true.(4:22) Now let me explain willingness to you guys right now. (4:25) Now I want you to imagine Kevin and I are willing to invest 60 hours a week, every week for the rest of our fucking lives. (4:34) Boom.(4:35) Everything opens up. (4:37) Everything opens up. (4:38) Brother, I coach for a living.(4:40) The willingness has to be there. (4:43) If it's not, there's nothing I can do for you. (4:46) I don't want to do that.(4:48) Oh, I didn't realize that you think you should earn money for no fucking work. (4:54) The economy doesn't care about your feelings. (4:58) Okay.(4:58) So the point of this, I said this to Kev earlier, because we had a, one of our biggest payouts doing very well. (5:05) Proud of us. (5:05) Awesome.(5:06) 10 out of 10 belief, 10 out of 10 drive. (5:09) That's one side of this balance beam. (5:12) The other side, humility and willingness.(5:15) Now I have the belief in the drive. (5:17) That's that's there. (5:19) The humility and the willingness.(5:20) I think willingness is there for me. (5:21) I need the humility. (5:22) I need us to stay humble, dude.(5:24) It's really easy to get cocky when you're winning. (5:27) You and I got cocky in 2022. (5:29) We had a big year.(5:30) We grew by like, we doubled our company. (5:32) We had, you had 19 clients in one quarter. (5:35) It was wild.(5:37) And we lost it. (5:38) I think more me than you probably, but like I lost my humility. (5:43) I was like, we're good, baby.(5:45) We hit the compound effect. (5:47) Let's go. (5:48) What color does it come in?(5:49) I'm kidding. (5:49) We didn't, we weren't stupid, but, but we, I think we lost our humility. (5:53) We lost some of our willingness.(5:54) All of a sudden, I was like, you know, I don't really want to do 6am. (5:57) I don't really want to do 10am. (5:58) I don't know if I want to.(5:59) And all of a sudden it's just, you start losing clients. (6:02) Fish aren't jumping in the boat anymore. (6:04) Squad, which of these four do you need most?(6:07) For me, it's humility. (6:08) I got to work on that 24, 7, 365. (6:10) That's why I do weighted chin-ups.(6:11) It keeps me humble. (6:12) That's why I'm running my miles. (6:14) It keeps me humble.(6:15) You think you're awesome. (6:15) Go time your mile. (6:16) Trust me.(6:17) You will not think you're awesome after that. (6:18) All right. (6:19) High self-belief, high drive, high humility and high willingness.(6:23) Which one is the bottleneck? (6:24) Tell us. (6:25) What's the difference between self-belief and drive in this?

Kevin Palmieri

(6:27) I know, but like.

Alan Lazaros

(6:29) I know people that believe in themselves a lot, but they don't have the grit and the drive. (6:33) They don't have the. (6:34) Hunger.(6:34) The must. (6:35) Yeah. (6:35) The hunger, hunger, hunger, drive.

Kevin Palmieri

(6:37) Okay. (6:37) Yeah. (6:38) I just wanted to, cause I know drive is a, it'd be a hard thing to like.

Alan Lazaros

(6:43) Who's the most driven person you know, do not use me or Amelia?

Kevin Palmieri

(6:47) One of our clients.

Alan Lazaros

(6:49) Nice. (6:49) Is it who I'm thinking of?

Kevin Palmieri

(6:50) Yeah. (6:51) Yeah.

Alan Lazaros

(6:51) Begins with a G.

Kevin Palmieri

(6:52) Just, yeah, just to a, to another level. (6:56) Just unbelievable. (6:59) Yeah.(7:00) It's unbelievable. (7:00) Yeah. (7:01) That's unbelievable.(7:03) I think that at times, and again, this isn't me. (7:07) This isn't a flex. (7:09) I think at times my willingness score is too high.

Alan Lazaros

(7:13) Yeah. (7:13) Because you've had to use that to make that was low self-belief.

Kevin Palmieri

(7:17) That was one of my, that was one of my strengths in, in one of my calls with Amelia. (7:21) That was what we were talking about. (7:23) It's like, I think my grit, like that's my thing.(7:27) That's my strength. (7:29) Yeah. (7:29) That's the thing that's gotten me here.(7:31) So it's really hard to like, imagine not doing that again. (7:34) Like I'm going to be up at three o'clock tomorrow. (7:36) I'm next week.(7:37) I've already dude next week, I'm going to Connecticut. (7:40) I have to be up at either one o'clock in the morning or two o'clock to be able to go to the gym and then drive three hours. (7:45) It's like, I don't, I don't know what I don't, if you're out there, like, would you even think about that?(7:54) Or would you be like, that's fucking terrible.

Alan Lazaros

(7:56) And I'm not, I know several clients, no BS that would never do that, but they'll never be as successful as you.

Kevin Palmieri

(8:02) And also like, I need to, I do need to take longevity more seriously. (8:06) Cause that is an issue, right? (8:07) Like tonight it's eight 22, but that's not the reason they would say, no, they're not doing that for longevity.

Alan Lazaros

(8:11) I have, but I'm saying that anonymous, but I have a client who binge watched a show for 10 hours on Saturday. (8:17) And I said, listen, you cannot be successful in business and do that. (8:21) She said it was Saturday.(8:22) I said, I don't give a shit what day it was. (8:24) You need to stop that. (8:27) Like Emily and I keep it to one episode a night max.(8:30) You don't have to be as excessive as we are. (8:32) And it's every other night because we do no STEM nights, but like, you can't be successful and binge watch shows.

Kevin Palmieri

(8:39) Like when I'm, I'm just saying that's the others, the, the side of very, very high willingness also has a other side of the coin that could be bad. (8:47) That's all I'm saying with that. (8:49) Yeah.(8:49) Agreed. (8:50) That's all I'm saying.

Alan Lazaros

(8:51) Well, I think every one of us has, I don't know anyone with 10 out of 10 and all four of those. (8:57) No, definitely not. (8:58) Yeah.(8:59) I, I, I'm not 10 out of 10 humble. (9:02) I'm not 10 out of 10 willing either. (9:05) I'm close.(9:06) And my, my lowest is humility. (9:08) What's yours? (9:09) Self-belief.(9:10) Self-belief. (9:11) And the more you believe in yourself, I think because I believed in myself so much, I think that hurt my humility just because you can coach 50 people doesn't mean you should. (9:30) Is that humble?(9:31) You know, I don't know.

Kevin Palmieri

(9:33) I'm, I was going to, I was going to text you today. (9:38) We have a client in Ohio and I was like, Hey man, what's like, how can I make it happen so I can go out to this client? (9:44) And I was like, you got to pump the brakes, man.(9:46) I love it. (9:47) You got to pump the brakes. (9:48) I love it.(9:49) You can't, you're going to be flying out every, like you can't, you can't, you're burning down. (9:54) You got to, you can't, you got to, but I, that, that are like, that is the drive. (9:58) I like it.(9:59) I love that. (10:00) I love the opportunity. (10:00) I like the hustle.(10:02) I like the grind. (10:02) I'm all in on it.

Alan Lazaros

(10:03) I love it. (10:04) All in all the time. (10:04) Maybe she'll say that.

Kevin Palmieri

(10:05) All in all the time. (10:06) I have to make sure. (10:08) Yeah.(10:08) You know, like, okay, so no.

Alan Lazaros

(10:12) It's slow. (10:13) It's smooth. (10:14) It's smooth.(10:14) It's fast. (10:14) Maybe she'll say that I'm all in all the time.

Kevin Palmieri

(10:17) Okay. (10:17) I like that.

Alan Lazaros

(10:18) Yeah.

Kevin Palmieri

(10:18) I don't feel as if I'm bad-ass enough to be any of that. (10:21) So I'll use that sparingly behind the scenes. (10:25) That ain't it for me.(10:26) All right. (10:28) Why? (10:29) So you're saying you have to be level 10 at all.(10:33) No, I don't think anyone is. (10:35) You have to move the needle towards level 10.

Alan Lazaros

(10:37) The more you do, the more successful you'll be. (10:40) And if you are really high on belief and drive and not high on humility and willingness, you're going to be not only reckless, but a failure. (10:49) And are you, in this case, focusing on your strengths or your weaknesses?(10:54) I think whichever one's strong will create a weakness on the other side, most likely. (10:59) And you want to focus on the weakness? (11:01) Yeah.(11:01) Because you're already naturally strong. (11:03) That's the bottleneck. (11:04) Well, so let's do this.(11:06) Uh, give me an example of someone who you think will not be successful. (11:12) Do not tell me who. (11:13) I do not want to bash anybody here, but I want someone, a real human.(11:16) It's so people like, don't talk about people. (11:18) How am I supposed to learn if I can't? (11:20) Oh, you know what?(11:21) It was John Doe the third. (11:23) Who? (11:23) No, we need to talk about real human beings.(11:25) Okay. (11:25) Don't tell me who. (11:27) Just picture someone who will not be successful almost under any circumstance.(11:36) Okay. (11:36) Got it. (11:37) Okay.(11:38) Zero to 10, what's their true self-belief deep down? (11:41) Not what they show publicly, but deep down. (11:43) Four out of 10.(11:44) Okay. (11:44) Okay. (11:45) Drive, tenacity, drive, whatever it takes.(11:48) Two out of 10. (11:49) Two out of 10. (11:50) Okay.(11:50) Two out of 10. (11:51) Humility. (11:52) They, they, they, yeah.(11:55) Humility. (11:57) Five out of 10. (11:59) Five out of 10.(11:59) Okay. (12:01) Willingness. (12:01) They will do whatever it takes if they have to.(12:05) Two out of 10. (12:05) Okay.

Kevin Palmieri

(12:05) The interesting thing though about willingness is like, some people are reckless when it comes to like their number one value. (12:13) You ever met somebody who's like, they, they find a, let's say it's a man who is attracted to women. (12:19) They'll do the most reckless shit to go see that person.(12:22) Yeah. (12:23) What do you, why do you have an alarm set for one in the morning? (12:26) Oh, Lisa comes in from the airport.(12:29) I'm going to go scoop her up. (12:30) We're going to go to Denny's. (12:30) We're going to make a fucking day of it.(12:32) You won't even get up at seven o'clock to go to the gym. (12:34) You can have a one o'clock in the morning to pick her up at the airport and then go to Denny's. (12:38) Brother.(12:38) What are we doing here?

Alan Lazaros

(12:39) Brother. (12:40) What are we doing? (12:41) And these are supposed to be, we didn't do this, but these are supposed to be towards your goals.

Kevin Palmieri

(12:46) Yes. (12:46) Yes. (12:46) Yes.(12:48) So do you have to re-rate them? (12:50) No, no, no. (12:51) But I'm just saying there, it's weird how like, when it comes towards certain goals, they're very low.(12:57) All of a sudden the willingness is through the roof. (12:58) That is a thing for me. (13:00) If you, this was always my thing.(13:02) If you would drive an hour and a half to meet someone or go on a date or whatever it is, you wouldn't drive an hour and a half to like get better. (13:13) That's Jeffed. (13:14) Yeah, it's Jeffed.

Alan Lazaros

(13:15) Yeah. (13:15) And ironically, whoever that is, is probably going to end up with someone who is at the gym. (13:19) Probably.(13:19) Right. (13:21) Yeah. (13:21) So what were the numbers again?(13:24) Belief was a four. (13:26) I think belief was a four. (13:27) Drive was a two.(13:28) Two. (13:29) And then humility was a five. (13:31) Five.(13:31) So five and two is seven plus four. (13:34) You're looking at 11. (13:35) Plus willingness was a...

Kevin Palmieri

(13:37) Willingness was a four. (13:38) Four as well.

Alan Lazaros

(13:40) Okay.

Kevin Palmieri

(13:40) So you're looking at 15 divided by four.

Alan Lazaros

(13:43) It's 3.89. So someone will be, this person will be, will round up to four. (13:47) 3.75 will round up to four. (13:49) This person will be level four successful.(13:52) Statistically. (13:53) I would say they probably are. (13:55) Despite what people want to believe, we are competing with other people.(14:00) Like if we're level 10 self-belief, level 10 drive, level 10 humility, and level 10 willingness in podcasting, and you're not, how are you going to beat us?

Kevin Palmieri

(14:09) Level 10 lack of character. (14:14) Huh? (14:16) That is a creepy...(14:17) Hey.

Alan Lazaros

(14:18) That's a fact. (14:19) Here you go. (14:19) That is an alarming fact.(14:21) Just take this bill. (14:22) I should have put the caveat on the masterclass, brother. (14:26) Uh, I ended up saying, if I ever sell a supplement, punch me in the throat.

Kevin Palmieri

(14:33) They won't have to, because I will for sure. (14:35) Dude, it's, yeah.

Alan Lazaros

(14:37) At the end of the day. (14:38) And again, not all supplements are bad. (14:39) I have, I take supplements.(14:41) But a lot of people are, are just like, you know, this is how I did it. (14:46) No, it isn't. (14:48) No, it isn't your BCAs that you're running that did it.(14:52) I use those BCAs and I don't look like that. (14:57) Yeah, exactly. (14:58) It's funny.(14:59) But yeah, that's a good point. (15:00) So assuming you have integrity and do not want to hoodwink anyone.

Kevin Palmieri

(15:05) That's got to be in there. (15:06) It doesn't have to be in this one, but like, dude, I'm telling you that the more I realize. (15:09) Yeah.(15:09) I had a client today who sent me something. (15:11) We're, we're focusing on building her brand through social media in very specific ways. (15:17) And she sent me something and she said, isn't it crazy how people just rip off other people?(15:20) It's like, it's the same exact post from two different creators. (15:23) Yeah. (15:24) It's.(15:25) I've never done that. (15:26) Same. (15:27) I'm very proud of that.(15:28) I've never done that. (15:28) Same. (15:29) I just do what I want.(15:33) That's it. (15:34) Like I want to, I'm going to make chicken and rice and I'm going to talk. (15:37) And if you like it, awesome.(15:38) If you don't, I understand. (15:40) Sure. (15:40) I understand.(15:41) There's so much more flashy stuff to watch on Instagram. (15:44) You're just watching me mix my chicken, my rice and my Brussels sprouts in my kitchen. (15:50) You know, no bikinis, no Ferraris, none of that.(15:55) Just me. (15:56) You do what you got to do. (15:57) I think characters, that's an important thing.(16:00) I think character, you can have none of those things and have no character. (16:04) And like, you can still. (16:06) Yeah.

Alan Lazaros

(16:06) Let's do that. (16:07) Let's say that. (16:08) I know we got to go.(16:09) If you have no belief, no drive, no humility and no willingness and no character, and you're willing to lie through your teeth, I actually think you can be successful short-term, unfortunately. (16:20) And you can look 10 out of 10 successful. (16:23) That is alarming that that's the thing.(16:25) Dude, way back, picture like, I don't know, let's do 1995, right? (16:31) Tony Hawk Pro Skater, N64 is coming out in a year, right? (16:36) Back then X Games just was new, that kind of thing.

Kevin Palmieri

(16:40) Yeah, that was crazy.

Alan Lazaros

(16:40) You couldn't really fake success nearly as well, you know?

Kevin Palmieri

(16:45) Yeah.

Alan Lazaros

(16:47) What's the app that you can rent a Ferrari for like 300 bucks or something? (16:52) Maybe it's 600 bucks. (16:53) Turo.(16:53) Turo. (16:54) How much would it be to rent a Ferrari for a day?

Kevin Palmieri

(16:57) 1200. (16:58) I have Turo, so I can tell you. (17:03) You got to hold space though.

Alan Lazaros

(17:05) Oh, yeah. (17:06) Word. (17:07) Yes, absolutely.(17:08) I had another...

Kevin Palmieri

(17:10) Oh, even, yeah, but like, dude, even in like the early 2000s, MTV Cribs. (17:14) MTV Cribs, those weren't those people's houses. (17:17) They rented those.(17:18) I swear to God, man. (17:18) JoJo. (17:19) Remember JoJo?(17:19) Get out. (17:20) She's a singer. (17:21) She was like, that wasn't my, that's not where I lived.(17:24) I lived in like an apartment or something. (17:25) Are you serious? (17:26) Dude, I'm telling you.(17:27) It was, that was... (17:28) Who was JoJo again? (17:28) What's the song?(17:30) Get out right now. (17:35) It's from Massachusetts, I think. (17:37) Let me take a gander here at a Ferrari.

Alan Lazaros

(17:39) Yeah. (17:39) So here's the deal, right? (17:42) Keeping up with the Joneses used to be my neighbor got a pool.(17:45) So I'm going to get a pool. (17:47) My neighbor has a trampoline. (17:51) So I'm going to get a trampoline.(17:52) I remember my neighbor had an N64. (17:54) I was like, yo, what do I got to do to get one of these fucking things? (17:59) Oh my goodness.(18:00) Do you remember the first time you got on the sticks with N64? (18:03) I don't. (18:04) That was a life-changing day.(18:06) I have never been more jealous in my life. (18:08) I don't think of anyone ever. (18:11) My neighbors right across the street, they got an N64 right when it came out.(18:16) And I could not believe how good this thing was.

Kevin Palmieri

(18:18) I definitely, we... (18:20) Now it looks like the worst. (18:22) It is the worst thing.(18:23) I don't know why. (18:23) I had an N64. (18:25) I cannot find a Ferrari to save my life, even if in Los Angeles.

Alan Lazaros

(18:30) So... (18:30) Goldeneye, 007, Goldeneye.

Kevin Palmieri

(18:33) You're probably looking at like 1,200 bucks.

Alan Lazaros

(18:35) What do you think? (18:35) Top 50 games of all time, Goldeneye, 007.

Kevin Palmieri

(18:38) I'd have to imagine.

Alan Lazaros

(18:39) Have you played Perfect Dark?

Kevin Palmieri

(18:40) I remember the crossbow.

Alan Lazaros

(18:43) Perfect Dark.

Kevin Palmieri

(18:44) I watched a video on that recently.

Alan Lazaros

(18:45) If you had to pick, 007 or Perfect Dark. (18:48) Goldeneye.

Kevin Palmieri

(18:48) Jaws. (18:48) Remember, you get to fight Jaws. (18:51) The bad guy, not the shark.

Alan Lazaros

(18:53) Yeah. (18:55) Look, man. (18:57) I would pick Oddjob, that little short guy.(18:59) Can't hit him.

Kevin Palmieri

(18:59) The hat?

Alan Lazaros

(19:00) Yeah, can't hit him. (19:01) He's too small.

Kevin Palmieri

(19:03) That game was... (19:04) That was... (19:04) I remember the...(19:05) Sorry, guys. (19:06) I remember the beginning where you... (19:08) Bungie jumped off the dam.(19:10) I was like, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. (19:12) This is some shit.

Alan Lazaros

(19:14) This is amazing. (19:16) Now it looks awful. (19:18) It's the best.(19:19) Okay, so back then. (19:21) Yes. (19:21) It wasn't as easy.(19:22) You couldn't rent a Ferrari on an app with your phone. (19:26) No. (19:26) For...(19:27) How much was it? (19:28) I don't know. (19:29) I couldn't even find one.(19:29) Just give me a guess, man. (19:30) Probably $1,200. (19:33) And then you can take pictures in front of it.

Kevin Palmieri

(19:34) Yes.

Alan Lazaros

(19:35) Nobody knows it's not yours because you moved to... (19:38) Across the country and for all they know, you got one. (19:40) We knew someone who'd never done a single real estate deal had a Ferrari.(19:43) Because he got hit or something.

Kevin Palmieri

(19:45) Okay. (19:46) He had a Mercedes. (19:49) It wasn't a Ferrari.(19:50) Oh, sorry. (19:51) But yeah, no. (19:53) It almost is like a scene from a movie.(19:55) Just imagine you meet someone. (19:58) This person's always in a suit, always looking... (20:02) Nice haircut, looking good.(20:04) And eventually you get behind the scenes and it's like, so you're pretty prolific when it comes to real estate. (20:09) And just imagine this person's like, oh no, no. (20:12) No, I've actually never done a deal, but I got hit by a municipal bus and I got a settlement, a large settlement.(20:19) It's like, wait, what? (20:20) The fucking scene from a movie.

Alan Lazaros

(20:22) Kev, Kev, real quick. (20:24) How successful did he look?

Kevin Palmieri

(20:27) Isn't that knocked up? (20:30) He got hit by a mail truck or something like that.

Alan Lazaros

(20:32) I don't know.

Kevin Palmieri

(20:33) Yeah. (20:33) It's a scene from a movie.

Alan Lazaros

(20:34) Real quick. (20:35) Yeah. (20:35) How successful did he look?(20:36) Zero to 10. (20:37) 10 out of 10. (20:38) Yeah.(20:38) He was world-class at looking successful. (20:41) Very good.

Kevin Palmieri

(20:41) World-class.

Alan Lazaros

(20:42) Yeah.

Kevin Palmieri

(20:42) Very good.

Alan Lazaros

(20:43) How successful was he? (20:45) Zero to 10.

Kevin Palmieri

(20:45) Based on that, like two.

Alan Lazaros

(20:49) Maybe two, three. (20:51) Tell me that didn't change the way you look at the world. (20:55) That amongst many other things.

Kevin Palmieri

(20:57) I already was really starting to look at things differently, but that was like, that was a very big paradigm shift for me. (21:02) It was like, wait, what? (21:04) Yeah.(21:04) You could be that good at faking it? (21:07) He was world-class at faking it. (21:09) Very good.

Alan Lazaros

(21:10) Yeah. (21:11) Every single shot, every photo was high rise. (21:16) Does seem like a good man.(21:17) Again, I think he has got a good heart.

Kevin Palmieri

(21:19) Yeah.

Alan Lazaros

(21:20) I'm not saying he was toxic, but I'm not saying he was that, but like- I don't think he was not toxic though. (21:24) He was definitely headed towards the manosphere for sure. (21:27) And again, whatever, do you.(21:29) But it's too bad, man.

Kevin Palmieri

(21:32) It's too bad. (21:34) I think there's not a ton of very good, balanced, healthy, fulfilled male role models out there.

Alan Lazaros

(21:43) Yeah. (21:43) And I would say that the amount of honesty, if self-belief is 10 out of 10, put it this way. (21:52) If honesty for you is a 10 out of 10, you have to have these.(21:58) You need a 10 out of 10 self-belief, 10 out of 10 drive, 10 out of 10 humility, and 10 out of 10 willingness. (22:02) Because you're competing with people who don't have 10 out of 10 character and honesty. (22:06) And that has been, I was naive and gullible, dude, straight up.(22:10) And I'm not anymore. (22:12) I don't, none of that. (22:13) I don't believe it, not for a second, unless you show me actual proof.(22:17) Not interested, don't care. (22:19) Fundamentals over everything, let's play the long game. (22:21) So what would be your takeaway?(22:23) Land the plane. (22:24) Land the freaking plane.

Kevin Palmieri

(22:29) Every strength has a weakness. (22:34) And unfortunately, that's the thing you're most likely going to have to work the hardest on. (22:39) And it's going to be uncomfortable.(22:40) And it's going to be outside your comfort zone. (22:42) And it's going to feel like you're losing because it's like, well, I could just go shoot threes the whole time. (22:46) It's like, no, you need to learn a fucking layup.(22:48) I know you could shoot threes, that's fine. (22:51) But you don't know how to pass the ball because you're always shooting threes. (22:54) And you need to learn a layup.(22:55) And you're going to look like a fool. (22:57) And you're going to score less points for a long time. (22:59) You're probably not going to make the all-star team.(23:01) But eventually, you'll be one of the most well-rounded players there's been. (23:04) And that's, I think that's what we're all.

Alan Lazaros

(23:05) The most well-rounded, that's everyone's goal, to be the most well-rounded player.

Kevin Palmieri

(23:09) But that's how you, you know, you'll be a good teammate and people will respect you. (23:13) And look, you might not be the greatest of all time, but fuck, nobody likes the greatest of all time. (23:17) So you could be balanced.

Alan Lazaros

(23:19) You're really selling it, man.

Kevin Palmieri

(23:22) No, Unsexy Fundamentals is great. (23:23) I think that's it. (23:24) I think it's Unsexy Fundamentals.(23:26) And there's very few things. (23:31) There's so many things that matter when it comes to success. (23:32) But these four are like tried and true.(23:35) And they're definitely worth putting your time into.

Alan Lazaros

(23:38) Zero to 10 self-belief for you. (23:41) No inflating or deflating. (23:42) Seven.(23:44) Seven. (23:44) Drive? (23:48) You think seven statistically?(23:50) Seriously?

Kevin Palmieri

(23:51) I don't know, man. (23:51) The self-belief thing, who knows? (23:53) You don't know what goes on in my head.(23:55) You know, like I have no idea. (23:55) Drive. (23:56) Nine.(23:57) Nice. (23:58) Humility?

Alan Lazaros

(24:00) Twelve.

Kevin Palmieri

(24:01) Nine. (24:03) I get bouts for sure. (24:05) Willingness.(24:05) Ten. (24:06) Ten. (24:06) Yeah.(24:07) I will do almost anything in alignment. (24:11) In alignment. (24:12) In alignment.(24:12) But you want me to stay up for two days? (24:14) It's like, whatever. (24:14) Say less.(24:15) I'm on it. (24:15) I got it.

Alan Lazaros

(24:17) Oh, man. (24:18) Good stuff. (24:19) And for the listeners, do that.(24:21) Do that.

Kevin Palmieri

(24:22) Yeah.

Alan Lazaros

(24:23) I'm not gonna get anything from this episode if you don't. (24:24) Do that. (24:25) Be honest.(24:26) Yeah, be honest. (24:27) I'm still, I'm always working on myself. (24:29) And work on the one that's low.(24:32) You think I should work on self-belief? (24:34) I don't know. (24:34) I think you're good.(24:35) Yeah. (24:36) Humility. (24:37) Stay centered.(24:38) Stay humble. (24:39) Yeah, for sure. (24:40) Absolutely.(24:41) Good. (24:41) I'm gonna run my mile tonight. (24:42) I'm gonna go for sub-8 to humble myself.(24:45) Okay. (24:45) Sub-8 is gonna be... (24:48) It's gonna be painful.(24:51) Sub-7 would be really painful. (24:53) Sub-8 will be painful. (24:55) 9 would be like, eh, nice jaunt.(24:58) Well, I look forward to seeing a 747.

Kevin Palmieri

(25:02) Okay. (25:03) 747 is my guest for you tonight.

Alan Lazaros

(25:04) I appreciate it.

Kevin Palmieri

(25:05) Easy for me to say. (25:06) I'm gonna be in bed. (25:07) But, you know, like, I do have a lot of belief in you.(25:11) I appreciate it. (25:13) I have higher belief in you.

Alan Lazaros

(25:14) With my 67 fair readiness score.

Kevin Palmieri

(25:16) I have higher belief in you than I do in me. (25:18) So, like, that should be light work for you.

Alan Lazaros

(25:19) Alan didn't make it back with his readiness score.

Kevin Palmieri

(25:21) I hope he does make it back. (25:23) We're gonna have to take a week break to get my ducks in a row here.
