The Kenyan elections
In August 2022, William Ruto was declared new president of Kenya by the Supreme Court, after election results were contested by opposition leader Raila Odinga. Previously, elections have resulted in riots and ethnically motivated conflict. This election was largely peaceful and motivated by politics. Why was this?
In this episode we're joined in the studio by Leonor Toscano, phd fellow at the University of Oslo. We talk about what was different in these elections from earlier, and the situation for women in politics. We are also joined by Dan Owino, student activist and master student at OsloMet. Dan talks about whats next for the opposition movement, and what positive takeouts we can take from the election.
