THRIVING IN TIMES OF STRUGGLE
What does it mean to flourish when the systems we depend on are under strain?
Flourish in Times of Struggle is a new podcast series for people who want to move beyond personal resilience and grapple with the deeper structures that shape our lives. In this opening episode, Michael C. Patterson introduces the series’ focus on systems, legitimacy, and collective action—and invites listeners to think together about how healthier, more democratic forms of governance might emerge.
Earlier Flourish As You Age podcasts focused more on personal change and development to promote brain health and mental management.

You are what you eat. You are what you ingest.
To stay alive, you need to ingest elements from the world outside your body. These elements – food, water, air – provide you with the energy you need to stay alive and to do all of the exciting things you do to make life worth living.
The problem is that you ingest a lot of gunk along with the good stuff. Your body has to work hard to sort out the good from the bad. It needs to integrate the good stuff and expel the bad. Unfortunately, the American diet and lifestyle does a bad job of this sorting process. There is a good chance that what you are eating – what you ingest – is making you sick.
In this episode, we take a quick look at how the quality and quantity of what you ingest alters your health, your mood and your mind.
