I never get on LinkedIn, but sometimes when I'm bored and there's a football game on that I don't care about, I'll check LinkedIn and I checked it last night and I had these, so and so congratulated you on your work anniversary. Ended it . I'm like, what? Work anniversary, like <laugh> . Oh yeah. Yeah. <laugh> . Anyway, it was, it was crazy because I can't believe it's three years going into four. I know, right? It's wild.

Everyone? You know, it's still for me, it's still exciting. Um, I have 13 year old triplets, as you guys know. Mm-hmm. <affirmative>, maybe the audience doesn't all know that, but I just wanna share a couple funny things from this year. Um, so my husband works at a energy producing company, you know, and they burn, they burn coal as one of their sources of energy . And he always tells him he's gonna put coal, give him coal for Christmas this year. He literally brought Cole home. Okay . And wanted me to wrap it. Wanted me to wrap it. And , um, we did, we wrapped up the coal and had it be their first present that they opened <laugh> and Oh my

These kids have had like dumb phones, you know, and they've kind of been in , in their words, they have been the last, you know, people on earth Yeah . To get at their age to get these smartphones. So they were just like jumping up and down. So excited about the iPhones. And so that was fun. And then I just think you guys will find this funny. Um, I also decided, you know, at age 13, I, some of their little friends and they're starting to show interest in wearing makeup mm-hmm. <affirmative>. And it costs a lot of money to start a makeup kit for a person, you know? I mean, yeah . So I kept looking at Christmas, so I had a lot of fun shopping around Target or Targe as Laurie calls it , right. Don't you call it that ? Yeah . I had a lot of fun. And I assembled, you know, brushes and little mascara and eyeshadow, like, just like the ba the basics, the essentials, and got all this together for 'em. And then they're like, mom, will you show us how to use all this? So I have a picture of all three of them lined up in the mirror of the bathroom and me saying, okay, this is concealer and this is to hide anybody .

The short answer i , I would say is yes. Um, I would say, and this might even be the same answer that I gave last year on the anniversary

Go a little bit more deeper into that loaded question. I think it's, it's a lot harder than we thought it would be, but it's also a lot more rewarding than we thought it would be. It's just like everything that you have in your head for what you wanna build and what you wanna see come to life and the ways that we can help everything is just amplified. Right? Yeah . All of the things that you thought it would be are even beyond what you imagined. Um, so, you know, we, we don't outsource. There is so much figuring it out because we have no other choice. There are so many small things that take so much more time than you thought it would. And yeah , that's just goes into building the engine that could, that is flower click . So I would say, yeah, it's what I thought it would be, but it's also on its way to being much bigger and better than I thought it would be.

Um, similar to what Ellie said , um, I knew it would be a lot of hard work when, you know, I knew we've gotta build it, you know, and it's gonna be a lot of hard work and it is <laugh>. Um, but my finite brain, my kind of time to build the donuts brain mm-hmm. <affirmative> mm-hmm . <affirmative> , you know , you know what I'm talking about. Like , I can just come in and do , I didn't think as expanded as flower click is, I didn't think as big as it is. And , um, all of the, you know, you guys are very much dreamers and very , um, you're always like, you're always thinking and always coming up with, with creative ways to be better. And , um, I just think we've knocked it outta the park. <laugh>. We've worked a lot. I think I probably have a few more bags under my eyes than I did three years ago . <laugh> , <laugh> , we've worked really hard. Like Ellie said, it is very rewarding. I'm very proud of the product that we have. So, is it what I thought it would be? It's more, it's been a lot of hard work, but it's, it's good.

I would say yes and no. Cuz I was thinking about that and I would say yes because mm-hmm . <affirmative> , I was confident we could build something that would really help shop owners. Right. And especially with the web, and now we are saying that's the part-time employee thing. Right. But I didn't think about the education part that we were really providing. I mean, we were gonna go into leadership, right? We were, we were doing stuff and we just kind of pivoted and really going into so much education that's really needed to help. Again, it goes back to helping the shop owner, you know, whether it's, you know, elevating , um, a seasoned employee or bringing on a new person. Mm-hmm. <affirmative>, I guess if I didn't expect that, the other part I didn't expect mm-hmm . <affirmative> was the camaraderie between our employees. Us, you know, it's Yeah . The four of us.

I expected that, right? Because we've worked hard , but then everybody, I guess the , the camaraderie I guess between all of our team is pretty amazing and pretty special.

Well, I, I lean more towards your answer to yes and no. Um, but I lean more towards, no, it's not what I thought it was going to be, because my thinking when we started, it was just like you said, I was gonna go more into like this leadership role where I'm doing one-on-one , um, consults with people. But what's cool about that is I'm kind of glad it didn't go that way because it , we opened up all of these new paths, right? For us to be able to communicate with our members and even people that aren't members. But a lot of people buy our online courses , but they don't wanna be , um, have their website merchandise by. So I get to have conversations with those people too. So I'm still getting it. It's just not the straight path I was, I was thinking mm-hmm . <affirmative> . Mm-hmm . <affirmative> . The other thing about is it what you thought it would be, and Camie and I have talked about this a lot. Um, you know, you and Ellie, like, this is your company. You two , it is your company. Yet I did not realize how heavy of a responsibility camie and I would feel as if it is ours. Like every conversation we have, every email we send out, every, everything. I'm thinking, is this a good reflection of the company where I'm not just clocking in and clock it out? Oh ,

But it's, but it's the opposite. And part of that is because we feel this huge responsibility to make sure that everything that comes out of our computer or our telephone is a good reflection of the company.

Let me ask , uh, kind of a follow up question to that, Lori . And you guys respond too . You feel like even though you're working all these hours, it's harder than where you were before? Or easier?

Oh, I'll answer. I think it's easier only because I believe in what we're doing. That's where we're so bought in. You know, this kind of leads to some answers that I had before is, well, and I just wanna piggy back on what Vonda said, the camaraderie between our team , um, is one thing. But what I ha I have formed bonds with the shops too . There's a comradery there where I don't wanna let them down either. So like Matt , you know, will be like, Kimmy, it's a Saturday, or, you know, and I'm going, I know, but they need this. And, and it's an , you know, he goes, well, you know, it's not really an emergency, you know, and you're off on Saturdays and, but it's like, you feel this

Yeah. Yeah, yeah . Yeah . I had, I had kind of , um, thought about that too. Is is it what you thought it would be? I don't think I expected to have such a bond commitment to the jobs Yeah . Commitment. Yeah . You know , I expect to have it to this, these spaces right here. But to the shops, I don't think I expected to have such a commitment that I do. Yeah .

Well, and so that leads us to question number two, because that was my, that's my answer for question number two is what's your biggest surprise? Mm-hmm . <affirmative> . Um, and so I'll, I'll start my biggest surprise, number one, that so many flower shops that we already knew jumped on board with us no questions asked. Um, which I was just a miracle. Um, and I never, I didn't see developing a friendship with so many of our members, like texting, FaceTime, just like, they're right here next to me. Um, I , that was a big surprise for me , uh, that, not that I wasn't friends or friendly, but I didn't, I just didn't, I don't think I went all in like I do mm-hmm . <affirmative> with this company. And it's because I got to see them with fresh eyes and they would reach out to me instead of me always having to call and check in, make sure they're not wanting to leave, and, you know, all of those things. Mm-hmm . <affirmative> . So that was the biggest surprise for me. Mm-hmm . <affirmative> , um, in these last three years. And it was a , it was a beautiful surprise. You know, like I get Christmas cards from them and I'm like, oh yeah . Hi , golly . You know? That's so cool. So Elliot , go to you. What was your biggest aha moment or surprise?

It's very similar to that as well. I think the biggest surprise for me was just how supportive in , in the same way that we want to support Retail shop owners, Floris, other industry people. I finally felt that this year back for the first time mm-hmm. <affirmative>. Yeah. Where it's like, we are putting in this dedication. I think a lot of that has to do with the fact that we are a remote company. Our clients are remote. Like everything is just kind of hidden in, in the screens in front of us. But that, because we were able to go out into the world heavily this year at different events, I think you felt that tangible feeling of support. Yeah. And that kinda , that keeps you going, that makes you feel like you have people in your corner that, that wanna see you thrive and succeed and in return, that's ultimately what Flower Click is about, is helping others thrive and succeed. Yeah. So just that surprise of support, feeling the support fully . Yeah .

Yeah. That's pretty much what I have . I have the loyalty and that's kind of what it comes down to. They're so loyal to us. I've always known that Flores are like a different breed, right? They're such close bonds between flower family members. And I guess I feel that, and I just, I, it's so many times I'm overwhelmed with emotion when we get these messages from our members that say these such kind things. And I'm just, I mean, truly in tears. Mm-hmm . <affirmative> . Cause I'm thinking, wow, we really, we really did what we wanted to do, which is help someone, right? It's just like, yeah. Yeah . We talk about that a lot, Laurie , about, gosh, you know, just , we do . Did you see that? And we all do. Mm-hmm. <affirmative>. Yeah .

I have to piggyback off of all of you because , and I, but I have an extra thing to add. Um, one that bond that we have, I have to tell you, I , um, I mentioned before we started this that my husband had a nightmare. It's very rare that he woke up and yelled. And so I was awake at four 30 in the morning and couldn't get back to sleep. And I spent my time trying to fall back asleep, praying for a member of ours who has cancer. Mm-hmm . And it weighs heavily on me. Um, I love her <laugh> . I really love her. I'm gonna get teary right now. And , um, even one that passed , um, a year or two ago , um, that I, that still, I think about her. And, and so that is a bond that totally surprised me that I, you know, praying for someone I've never even met in person. Um , but I, but I love her, you know ? So , um, just adding that and then to add to what Ellie said, I got to go to my first in-person floral conference and it was a game changer for me. I mean, as much as I don't really wanna travel with the girls being the age they are, it was so good for me. Good for my soul. I didn't tell you guys this , I think you told Lori , but , um, I stopped at a shop when I was, I was just about an hour, hour and a half from where I live. I stopped at a shop recently when I was passing through. I've passed through that town year for years and passed her shop, if I'm being honest. But I had a whole new confidence to stop in. Yeah . Because it's like, she's not gonna not like me when she meets me in person. Mm-hmm . <affirmative> , like, I think I had this new confidence Yeah . Mm-hmm . <affirmative> that I didn't have before, that I'm not just the girl behind the screen, you know? Right, right . And um, and I told , shared that with my friends and they were like, I can't believe you thought that. Like, I can't. And I'm like, I don't know . I think it was just, I was hiding for , you know, I could hide that .

Before you guys started talking, that was just me riff , you know, going off the cuff. But , um, my biggest aha moment has been , um, the number of shops that are selling and , um, and even retiring , um, that I've seen over the last year or two. And that is , um, it's been just surprising to me, I guess, is , um, I think the rollercoaster that, that the florist have been on for the last almost three full years has created some burnout. Has created mm-hmm . <affirmative> and I mean, it's real, I even read an article on it on the s a f , you know, magazine mm-hmm . <affirmative> . But, but way am I seeing it, you know, someone that I had no idea they even were thinking about selling emails me and says, Hey, by the way, I've sold my shop. And I'm just like, you know, and it , I'm happy for 'em, but I'm also sad and torn that I'm not gonna get to talk to 'em as often. And you know , and then usually they just are so in, even still committed to flower click that they tell the new person, you've gotta keep these people. Yes . You know , and they do. Which is great. Yeah . Um , nine times <inaudible> . So anyway, that's been a big surprise for me as wow, I don't, I've been in this industry for a lot of years and don't remember it being this much. Mm-hmm.

Mm-hmm . <affirmative> . Okay . Last question , uh, that I have is, what is one thing that you hope to achieve in 2023? So, Ms . Ellie . Okay . It can be personal or professional. It doesn't have to have anything to do with flower.

Click . Yes. So when I did see that you said personal or professional, that led me to the thing that I do every year , uh, which is to pick a word for the next year, right ? Or to , for, for , so for 2023, my word , uh, is fortify. So fortify means to strengthen mentally or physically mm-hmm . <affirmative> or increase the value of, so speaking, I'm gonna just speak about it professionally here and in that way. And I know Lori , you and I have had many conversations about this. So we've been building, building, building the past three years. And for me, this, this upcoming year, 2023, the year that we are now in, it's about building upon what we've already built, making it better. So not creating necessarily a bunch of new stuff, but refining our craft, making things that we have already built and sometimes had to build really fast to get it out there in the world. To, to strengthen, to reinforce, to fortify those things, the systems, the products we have, the photo shoots, the courses , anything that we do to, just to fortify that. So that's my, that's my thing.

Um, and from a work standpoint, it makes total sense cuz that is our goal, but also from a personal standpoint, I won't steer away from like, I wanna have a new body, or I want new mental. I , I don't want, I, I need to be gr good and fulfilled with what I have, but I can refine it, right ? Mm-hmm. <affirmative>, I can remove maybe an extra snicker bar and replace it with maybe a prune, I don't know , <laugh> , you know what I mean? But I <laugh> , but I was like just refining what I already am because I'm great. Right. I'm good. I'm okay.

I think I'm probably not alone. Whenever I come up with kind of, I come up with goals that are personal, work related , spiritual, you know? Right . I've got, I've got all these goals. Um, I would like to just share that for 2022. I read through the Bible in a year. I'm about to finish revelation. I've, I've completed one of my goals, and I don't always do that . I don't always do that, you guys, but if I had to pick a word, it would be balance. You guys didn't ask me for a word, but balance. Um, and, you know, it kind of ties back to what we started with, right. With with how much we care. I, I wanna continue to care because even though I do put things on my calendar, like I'm taking the kid to the orthodontist, you know, or I'm, I'm going to a basketball game, I still, it's still in my brain work. Yeah . You know what I mean? Mm-hmm . <affirmative> . And , um, and then I need, I need balance because my brain can become very anxious mm-hmm . <affirmative> . And , um, I need it , um, to maybe even to come up with a hobby that I like outside of Yeah . You know, my kids and my job. And , um, that's something I wanna do in 2023 just for my own balance and wellbeing. Um mm-hmm. <affirmative> work.
