Okay. So how's everybody doing? Great, great. Happy to be here. Good. Okay. We are going to do a little round robin today, um, with some Mother's Day memories, some Mother's Day tips, and end it in a little rapid fire get to know us. So the three of you have no idea what I have in store for you.

We don't, but you know, we're just coming right up on Mother's Day. I mean, it's like this coming weekend.

Right. And so that is a perfect segue, Vondola Fever. So, from a work standpoint, getting ready for Mother's Day, because when this launches on Tuesday, it will be the Tuesday before Mother's Day. I want to go around the virtual room here and say, ask what has been occupying the most of your time last week and this week. And Kami Martin, I'm going to start with you because I know there have been a few days that you have been like hiding under your desk sucking on your toes. So you and your whole team. And then you just start laughing.

Yes, for real. And I do I want to just also say it's funny, I'm giggling because one of my daughters last night said, Isn't Mother's Day this weekend? And as we're recording it, it is not this weekend. You know, and um, I was like, No, it's not this weekend, it's next weekend. And she said, No, I think it's this weekend. And I was like, I think I know when Mother Do you know what I do? Do you know I May 14th has branded in my brain for since December? I know when exactly. So, but no, this this last couple of weeks, um, we've been super busy with member requests. Um, a lot of members are sending us their custom images to add, and we're cleaning those up and getting them added. A lot of members are like, Oh, I have this special, you know, I ordered these containers. And so we've been, you know, their sites are perfect, but then they add like their own little zhuzh to it, and and we're over helping them with that. And so that's that's what's been mainly occupying our time. And I swear I felt like I talked to every member yesterday. It's like they all called. Yeah, I felt kind of like a call center for a minute.

Right, right, right. Oh, this is Cammy. How can I help you? I think you I think you called it Grand Central Station. Yes, Grand Central Cami. Yeah, exactly.

But here's the good news. Yeah, they were calling, they love you, right? And you love them. It wasn't they weren't calling in some sort of hostile situation. Like a cable company customer service person. No, no, no, no.

So great. And I gotta shout out to my team because yeah, uh Leslie, I can't I can't um handle all of the calls, and Leslie makes a lot of calls for me too. Denise, Allie, like these girls are rock stars, yeah. They are make me look good on it on a daily basis. But yeah, so I get to take a lot of the credit, but they are doing all the heavy lifting and doing such a good job.

Yeah, you do have a team that each has their own special gift, and I think the rest of us are learning very quickly who to reach out to for what on your team to try to alleviate all of the responsibility on you. Yeah, so um, that's pretty cool. Ellie, what about you? Because you have been kind of crazy yourself, not so much with member calls, but your name probably gets added in the Slack channel more than anyone else.

I would say yeah, I I too truly feel like that. And I actually woke up in the middle of the night being like, wait, I have to do that project. Now it's killing me because I can't remember. Oh I feel like there's a lot of like it's truly like juggling, yeah, and yeah, like so many different projects, um, a lot of behind the scenes stuff that we can't necessarily discuss um right now. But also, we have been doing a lot of email marketing for our members. We have an email marketing service, and so it's just really getting um deep into those campaigns to make sure that they're thoughtful and can convert well for our members. So I design those and then ship them off to you and the team to implement, and that is something that's giving me energy right now, giving me some life, as you would say. And then looking forward, one of the great things that Cami has kind of trained Bonda and I on is getting the deadlines earlier and earlier for pre-holidays. So, like Mother's Day for me is a thing of the past. And now in in week and a half, two weeks, we are preparing for a fall photo shoot. Yes. So now we're looking ahead into product development for fall. Yep. Um, so basically my Mother's Day work was done, and now now I'm always I'm always looking ahead. Um, but yeah, it's been it's been great. It's been a lot of new stuff on the horizon, but all good things.

Yeah, you know, I was thinking about you this morning because we talk a lot about all of these like inspirational project type ideas that we want to work on in that quote unquote downtime.

And there never becomes the downtime, and that's I have I'm done with downtime, Lori. There will never be done with that.

That is what I think when you wake up in the night, those are the projects that I think you think you have to do.

No, it's literally that I can't think of it.

I will I have to think of it, but when I taught school, there was a um one of my uh social studies teacher Cresce Hall for me, and she had this plaque, and it just said, excuse me, what is this downtime of which you speak? And I was like, I need that. So Vonda, my little energizer buddy, what have you been working on?

Some of it the same as Allie, right? The fall shoot. So we had to get the flowers, ordered containers, ordered everything, kind of thought, um, the thought process put in there. Recipe, but then I we did have a little photo shoot uh that I'm doing prices and recipes for. So I just completed that for that for summer and designs for that, and then now I'm working on the merch setup for the websites post-May. So starting May 30th, we change everything out for the merch. So that's what I'm working on now, and then of course, we'll bring in the web team and Ellie and everybody to make that happen. So, yeah, just a lot, just a lot going on.

You and Audrey have been talking about like bundles and meeting with Amy to make sure all the bundles are situated. All of I mean, I know you got a couple of meetings about that this or last week, getting all my weeks. So, anyway, uh okay, so very, very busy from that standpoint. And I would just jump in and say, Ellie, I'm with you. I've been um working on those emails, getting them done, and you know how much I love the emails you send. So, with all of that said, this being Tuesday before Mother's Day, if I am a shop owner or flower cart owner or whatever, and I am thinking, oh no, is there anything else I can do this late in the game to get more customers by Sunday? What is one little piece of advice each one of you might give them that they could do today that could help for Sunday?

Send an email. They have amazing templates. Yep, send something generic or general, or if you have specific things you want to target, do that.

Well, I'm kind of a broken record. If I have to pick one, it's gonna be your home page. Uh that's the number one seller on your website. It's the first impression that a customer's gonna get when they go to your website, and you've got to get it in order, you've got to feature what you want to sell. So if if if you're last minute and you're in a rush to get something done, I would say website homepage, get it perfect.

I'd say social posts, Instagram, on Instagram, and either do an Instagram live, just a quick one, show them a little bit of stuff in the shop, or just post something every day.

Yeah, that's what I would. I would have I would talk about social media, constant social media, um, showing pictures inside. I would post more than once a day on your Instagram and your Facebook page. I would reach out to local community, local other businesses and say, Hey, do you want to cross promote? You know, those types of things. Anything you can do last minute. Um, I know, I know Ellie's shaking her head. See, you didn't know.

So this is old school. Pre-calling. No, but that is a good one. Be your own PR. If people still listen to the radio in your town, go call them and be like, hey, I just want to do a little Mother's Day, the power of flowers for moms. Um, if there's a local TV network, you know, do that. Be your own PR. Don't be afraid to pick up the phone and say, Hey, I want to share how powerful flowers are. And uh there's a lot of our members that have actually done that for recent holidays. Um so reach out, you know, reach out to us if you need ideas on what to say. We can definitely uh show you what some of our members have done.

But I think that's it's it's brand new to free marketing, especially in those smaller towns, you know, like um Andy at Rob's Flowers in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. He does that and he gets great feedback. A lot of times you can I was a radio kid.

I I always was on the radio when I was little. Were you? Yeah, it's even better if you have a child. That's a great idea. Can go on because it really uh pulls at the heartstrings.

That's a really and she would talk about flowers, but also then give away a Mother's Day bouquet so they could call in and they could win. So it didn't cost anything for us to advertise because we were given information and then giving away a free bouquet or five or whatever we did. But yeah, Ellen was great on the radio, yeah.

And that's not surprising, no, and but this is the other perfect segue once again to Mother's Day Memories portion of the interview. Oh, here we go. So I want to talk about Mother's Day memories with about from each one of you, can be good or bad, or disappointing, or sad, or whatever. Um, but let's maybe start with good, and they can be about when you're a child or when you are an adult. It doesn't matter, there are no rules to this. So who would like to start? Anyone? I'll go first. Go Cammy. That would be Cammy Martin. That would be Cammy Martin, triplet mother. Triplet mother, triplet mother.

Um, so one of the best Mother's Days for me was when I I I actually anticipated you might ask this question, although you did not tell me, but was when I received this journal, which I'm showing you right now, and audience can't see it. But um, Matt got me this journal. He is kind of bad about buying cards, and cards mean a lot to me. The words that are written I cherish, and he knew that, but he kind of fell short often. And so he one time he went out and bought this journal, and he has the girls write in it every year. It's for my birthday, but it's also Mother's Day and any kind of special occasion that comes along. But he'll have each one of them write in it, he'll write in it, and um, and I can just keep it and always refer back to it. That is a bad idea, even when I it's so good. And when I look like you guys, I'm I'm sharing it, like it goes from like these tiny little color drawings, you know, that you can see that the kids wrote to then as it goes on, they start to write more and more and more, you know, as they get older. Oh, there's a there's like a fish that just fell out that was colored for me. So anyway, this is just the best Mother's Day that I when I received this, and then it just is the gift that continues to give for me.

I'll go next. I don't have a ton of like early Mother's Day memories because we were just like working at the shop, and then obviously mom was just so tired that she didn't really feel like doing anything. I think this is just my memory of it, of course. I do remember going to um this restaurant called the Colonial Rose, which was a little bed and breakfast with a great restaurant. Um, I remember going there a couple times. Remember maybe going like to a garden center and getting some plants and planting outside, perhaps. But in recent memory, I actually have a really good recent memory one. It was during COVID, and you know, when we were in Los Angeles, everything was shut down, everything was just like miserable, couldn't go outside. Um we went to Florida for two weeks to escape and just feel some freedom. And we uh had mother, it was over Mother's Day, and I remember we just had like the best day ever. Wow, didn't we?

We just didn't do anything, right? We just hung out by the pool, I think.

Well, we just like made you breakfast, we made you drinks by the pool and snacks, and we played lawn games, and I remember just like sitting in the grass and feeling like, oh my gosh, this is so so great. Just like no agenda. We just we had a great, I feel like that was a really good memory.

Yeah, that was a really good memory. I love that.

Those were the best days, and I'm like you.

I just you know, after Mother's Day, we just kind of hung around the house. I mean, we didn't do anything, otherwise, we go to um Bud's mom's, we went to Nana's, and since his mother was really close by, so we go there and make a pop-in visit, but I would never go anywhere. It was one of those things, it was our rule, you know, don't leave. But my memories really like your book. I have this basket that have all of my old cards from one when Ellie was really little, and then some the from the granddaughters, so it's just you know, just great to go through those. So, like you said, words just mean so much, just to read through those are just amazing. And Ellie has always been the card writer, you know, or actually it started with Sayer. Sayer would write a card and then make sure everybody signed it. He was like the oldest, so he was making sure everybody participated. And so anyway, that's that's my memory. So it was good, good stuff.

Those are so great. I think I've I shared on here before, and that's why I didn't do it again. Um, my kids used to always do the coupons, uh the kids, and so I have some still, I still have them, and every once in a while I'll pull one out from Reese. Oh hey, this one is good for a foot massage from you. And he's like, It's expired, you know, or whatever, or you know, some silly like snuggle cuddling with mommy or some sort of thing.

I love 22-year-old Reese is like, no, not happening.

Yeah, but and as I was trying to think of my memories, I was trying to remember what ones I've shared on here because I don't want to be redundant, and what ones I haven't, and I couldn't, and I didn't want to go back and keep looking. But one of my memories from childhood that sticks out was, and I don't know why, I think it's because it was a surprise. My mom, this was back in the late, late 70s, maybe early 80s. And my dad was going what we were gonna surprise her. She needed a new car, and she wanted this new car called a Honda Accord. And now, when I say new, I mean used, but new to us, and she just thought they were the most beautiful cars and was just super excited. And so the Saturday before Mother's Day, my dad told us kids we needed to go with him to go run some errands, and so we didn't really want to go because my dad wasn't super fun at errand running, like you didn't get to go to for snacks or anything, but we went and he said, We're gonna go get your mom a new car. We're gonna go pick her up the car. Anyway, we went to like a Kmart and we made signs and we did all of this stuff, and then we went to this used car dealership, picked up this red, dark red, and then red cloth inside stick shift Honda Accord with our posters, drove it back home, sat in the driveway, and honked and honked and honked and honked until she came outside, and we were like hanging out the windows, Mama. And we just cried, and we thought, I just thought this is the coolest thing ever. And so and that was for Mother's Day, that was her Mother's Day gift, and I just remember thinking that and I please understand this was not a fancy doesn't matter, but it was just I mean, my parents were teachers, it wasn't, but to me, that was such a cool, fun experience, right? That I will I will never forget as a child. So I think my adult memory is just similar to you guys as far as words and things. A couple years ago during COVID, um, my oldest son who couldn't come home and I hadn't seen him in a while because of COVID, he um sent me a video of him talking about me. And I just sat there and I opened, he's like, watch this with the fam. And I'm like pressed, you know, play on the TV or whatever. And I just cried and cried, and he just read this whole thing about what his mom is, and to this day, I I have a hard time watching it, but yet wow, it was just like that's pretty, pretty amazing. Like that means more to me than any car would ever mean to just have your basket of cards or your little book, right? I mean, just knowing that there is a a child out there that truly feels that way, I think is that can say job well done. So, anyway, all right. Now I want to go around. Do we have any disappoint any disappointing or horrible?

I'll start again because I feel like I I want to um I I've given Matt, you know, some a shout out with this journal.

So you guys like that was so thoughtful. But it took him a little while to figure it out. Like when I was a mom, you know, the girls were a year old, two years old, three years old. I think I cried Mother's Day like three years in a row because he hadn't quite figured out that um it was his job, you know. Like the three-year-olds aren't gonna celebrate Mother's Day. He hadn't quite caught on to the fact that he needed to kind of take the ownership. And um finally, I mean, like I said, now he gets it, and now the girls totally are old enough to get it. But there was quite a few, like I had expected like mom of the year, kind of the big to-do, and and nothing really happened much. And so um I had quite a few disappointing Mother's Days, and but um I hate to say it because he's so good at everything, he just hadn't quite gone at that moment that I because he'd be like, You're not my mom, you know what I mean? Right, yeah. So um quite a few disappointing. I remember riding in the van, in the minivan at the time with the girls all in the back and just kind of being wanting to cry, weepy, yeah. Like this is what I this is not what I envisioned mothers thinking, you know. Yeah, but he's redeemed himself over and over.

No, I can't say there has been any that were disappointing, and I think it's because of the way I look at things, it's like it's always that appreciation. And I I think it's the way I was raised. I was very blessed to have a great mother, great grandmother, you know, everybody. And you've learned those things. I think that's modeled. And I think what's touched me is there's been times that I've been speaking out on the road and talking about Mother's Day, and there have been people who have shared stories about really bad Mother's Days, or bad mothers, maybe I would say, that weren't ideal. And to me that was so surprising because I never had that experience. But when you really talk to somebody who's not had a great model in their lives to be able to pass along and they're struggling with being a better mother, so they don't want to pass that along to their children. I have such admiration for that person, and my heart hurts that they had to struggle to get to that point. So I I that's where I would say bad Mother's Day. No, I haven't, but I do pray for people who have had that struggle and had to learn from that and try to pass that good experience on to their children later. So any clicker who's listening that says, Wow, I didn't have a good, you know, experienced Mother's Day, but I'm trying to do that moving forward, do the best you can. Have gratitude in every minute you see with other children or your own children, you know, and just appreciate them.

Yeah, that's absolutely true. Ellie and I, when we're working on the emails, you know, we're we try to be super mindful on how we word it, because when we're sending out emails for Mother's Day marketing, we always include, or you know, whoever influenced you in your life, because not everybody's not always the model. And and I know our our members are always very appreciative of that because they've they've responded. So um the one that just really sticks out in my head is I always got breakfast in bed at for Mother's Day. And when the kids were little, Mark would make daddy waffles and they would pull them up, and it was always a big deal. And I would like have to lay in bed, I wouldn't allow it to get out until they came back up. So they came one day, and Reese was like one and a half. So the Davis was holding the tray, and it had syrup, coffee, and a pitcher of hot syrup, and little Bailey, and then Reese on Mark's hip. And he, I think Mark was holding the coffee in Reese and 100-pound lab. So they're all coming up. Happy Mother's Day, mama. And I'm raising up. Oh my gosh, what a surprise! The dog jumps up on the bed, hits the tray, comes flying up at that same time. Reese leaps out of the arms of his dad onto me. The syrup goes above Reese, pours on Reese and the dog on me, hot syrup, keep in mind, and the coffee. Oh no.

Everywhere, screaming, working, cussing, all of it, all of it Mother's Day, and Mark.

Mark goes, This is why we don't have breakfast in bed, and you got to clean it up. Happy Mother's Day. So I grab the baby and the dog and myself. Go stay get in the shower, Mother's Day morning, all the borders, and try to get the hot syrup off of me. That was that was just one of the and I've never of that. Yeah, yeah. So that one, I feel like you know, enough said. My my most disappointing just just really we got home after church, we lived in Ohio, it was snowing, you know. Ohio winters never end. Mart comes down with this beautiful beach bag, like bright stripes, and I'm like, this big, and he hands it to me. I open it up, and it's got a beautiful towel, it's got sun tan lotion, it's got sunglasses, it's got in style magazine, which I only buy at an airport, which I'm like, oh my gosh, oh my gosh. It had um I can't a visor, it had everything you could imagine in it.

Even the kids were like, oh my gosh, oh my gosh, I finish it. And to this day, I'm still waiting.

No, hold on. One time my my neighbor and I were picking my husband up at the airport. This is way before 9-11, and we put on her old prom dresses from the 80s and made signs for him and stood there. And when we walked off the airplane, he ignored us.

So I feel like I'm not a very crazy person because I cannot draw on one thing. I'm very safe. I'm a very person.

I would go to Hawaii and I would go with my immediate family, my girls and my husband. You would take your whole family. Okay. Yeah.

So I have started, I already watched this when it came out at first, but now I'm watching it again, the middle. Have you guys seen that? Oh, I love that show. Well, and I'm watching it with my kids now. Matt, and we kind of watch it as a family, and it is so funny because I feel like I'm a lot like Frankie Heck, and Matt is a lot like Mike Heck. And and actually that syrup incident is something that wouldn't happens on the middle. It is a it is a Mother's Day episode, I swear to you. Where it is, it's so funny. You'll I'll have to find it.

So guys, I I it's funny this is a Mother's Day podcast, but I'm such a mom to my core, and um that that um everything revolves around the kids right now in my life, and so whatever job I have would have to allow for me to pick up and drop off and be at their things, and and that's which is a job in itself, I will say. Which is a job in itself, but it is that's what I love about this job is I'm able to put it, put my all into it, but also put my all into my family, so it's that work-life balance for sure. I would just I would need something that fulfills that. I I don't know what it would be.

Uh I don't know, but something like that, probably teaching researcher. Um probably at this point in my life, I probably would be retired and just volunteer, you know, at my leisure. So um, I don't know, but it would something like that. Um what do you love most about yourself? It's the hardest question, isn't it? It's very hard.

When I was on the treadmill this morning, I was I had YouTube on or something, and there was a commercial, and usually you skip right through the commercials. It's like a Harry Styles NASA robot commercial, which sounds crazy, but within like the first 10 seconds, I didn't skip. And it was a three-minute commercial, and it's all about this robot who like sees the robot on Mars and he like wants to be like that robot, but he's just like a vacuum on the ground, like a robot vacuum, but he wants to be and he goes on this journey and he gets like he gets really sad and all these things, and it reminded me like I'm so sensitive when it comes to like watching animals or robots, I guess. Like, or even in real life, like I cannot do like the I would love to do animal rescue, but like I can't even really stomach those videos. Like, I'm so sensitive when it comes to like seeing animals or I mean obviously humans as well, like hurt. I just I feel it so deeply and like have such empathy and like want to help. Um I don't know. I guess that it's just I very good quality.

Um was I a person of mercy and grace who blessed your name unapologetically? And I've always thought about that.

When I die, whoever whoever's life I encountered, I want them to know that I loved them or they felt that I loved them unapologetically, no matter who they were, even if we didn't agree on things, there was still something in all of us we can connect with, you know, and so I think um every one of us what we've been saying is we really are reflecting God's grace on other people.

Yeah, that's the goal, that's the end game, isn't it? I mean, that's the whole for us, that's the whole uh reason to be on this earth is to reflect grace and love, um, whoever I come in contact with. And so the cool thing about us and our team is we get to do it virtually, which is a whole different ball of wax. Um, so this was fun, you guys.
