Labor Force Participation Among Utah Women: A 2023 Update
•
Dr. Susan R. Madsen
•
Episode 102
Since 1950, women ages 16 and older in Utah have increased their labor force participation from 24.5% to 60.7%. This is slightly higher than the overall labor force participation rate of US women, which is 56.1%. Numerous factors influence Utah women’s participation in the labor force, such as accessing affordable, quality childcare, and occupational segregation in lower-paying industries.
Recently, the Utah Women & Leadership Project (UWLP) published an update on the status of Utah women in the labor force in 2023, which is the topic of this episode. Dr. Susan Madsen, Founding Director of the UWLP, is joined by Robbyn Scribner, a women’s labor force expert, consultant, and career coach.
