Word of the Month- Change

The Catholic Cemeteries Association

Send us a text

September brings transitions as we feel the weather shift, notice the first falling leaves, and adjust to changing schedules and rhythms. This month, we reflect on "change" as our Word of the Month—exploring how this universal experience invites us to pay closer attention to what God might be doing in our lives.

Speaker 1:

Thank you so much for joining us. Welcome back to CC Airwaves. My name is Paige Matillo, and today we have another edition of the Word of the Month. Each month, we take a moment to reflect on a single word, one that grounds us, challenges us and offers space to grow in our faith and in our everyday lives. For September, our word is change. Change is one of those words that can stir up a lot of different feelings Excitement, fear, uncertainty, anticipation. And it makes sense. Change means something familiar is ending and something unknown is beginning, and that space in between that can feel really uncomfortable.

Speaker 1:

September is a month of transition For those of us in the Northern Hemisphere. We feel the shift in the weather. The mornings are cooler, the light starts to soften, we notice the first few leaves starting to fall off the trees, the busyness of summer slowly fades into something more reflective and more inward. School starts back up, schedules change and, whether we're ready or not, the rhythm of life is adjusting, and I think that's why September is the perfect time to reflect on how change is showing up in our lives. Maybe you're starting something new this fall a job, a school year, a routine or maybe you're feeling the ache of something ending a relationship, a season of life, a sense of uncertainty. No matter what kind of change you're facing, it's important to remember that change isn't just a disruption. It's also an invitation. An invitation to pay closer attention, to let go of what no longer serves you and to open your heart to what God might be doing.

Speaker 1:

In this next chapter, scripture reminds us that there is a time for everything and a season for every activity under the heavens. That includes times of planting and times of uprooting, times to hold on and times to let go. God doesn't ask us to be perfect through the process. He simply invites us to trust. But that doesn't mean that change is easy. Sometimes it feels like grief, like walking into a room that feels unfamiliar, like waiting for clarity that hasn't arrived yet. But even in those moments, god is there, he is steady, he is unchanging and he is always working, even in the in-between. This is also a good time to practice mindfulness. When everything feels like it's in motion, being present becomes a spiritual act Taking a walk and noticing the leaves, sitting in prayer and breathing deeply, choosing to be still even for a few moments and saying Lord, I'm here, I'm listening.

Speaker 1:

For those of you grieving this season. Maybe this month brings painful anniversaries or new routines that feel lonely. I want to say this to you you are not alone. You are seen. So I encourage you to ask yourself what's changing in my life right now? How can I meet that change with grace instead of resistance, and what might God be inviting me to see or to become? Let this be the month where we stop fighting change and start listening to what it's trying to teach us. Let it be the month we take a deep breath, step forward in faith and remember that new seasons can bring new life, even if we can't see it yet. Thank you for joining me for this month's reflection. I hope that it gave you the space to breathe and something to carry with you into the days ahead. We'll see you next time, and we will be doing a messages from heaven, so have a good one, thank you.
