Spilled Milk: A Momcast

Catching up with Nicole

Season 1 Episode 7

Hi friends,

Today I catch up with my friend Nicole.  We hadn't talked on the phone in a few years and it was such a delight.  Here is a couple of the topics we discuss this episode:

  • Miscarriage
  • The new dynamic of having 3-4 year olds and telling the truth. "It's easier to mold a boy than to change a man."
  • The noise level in a house with our kids.
  • Cleaning/keeping house with kids.
  • Enneagram - I had no clue!
  • Mom friends and our tribe during this season of our lives.

Nicole is a gentle soul that is able to offer profound insight while baring her soul.  We had to cut off the episode after two hours but we have a ton to still talk about.  She will be back on the show soon!

Enjoy!

Babies Don’t Keep

Mother, O Mother, come shake out your cloth,

Empty the dustpan, poison the moth,
Hang out the washing, make up the bed,
Sew on a button and butter the bread.

Where is the mother whose house is so shocking?
She’s up in the nursery, blissfully rocking.

Oh, I’ve grown as shiftless as Little Boy Blue,
Lullabye, rockabye, lullabye loo.
Dishes are waiting and bills are past due
Pat-a-cake, darling, and peek, peekaboo

The shopping’s not done and there’s nothing for stew
And out in the yard there’s a hullabaloo
But I’m playing Kanga and this is my Roo
Look! Aren’t his eyes the most wonderful hue?
Lullabye, rockaby lullabye loo.

The cleaning and scrubbing can wait till tomorrow
But children grow up as I’ve learned to my sorrow.
So quiet down cobwebs; Dust go to sleep!
I’m rocking my baby and babies don’t keep.
