Peter interviews Guang Ming Whitley author of Zuo Yuezi: An American Mother's Guide to Chinese Postpartum Recovery.
Zuo Yuezi, also called "sitting the month" is a post-partum recovery approach used in China, and in some form or another in many other countries around the world. There is a lot to this practise that makes sense for a new mum to do.
Guang Ming did this after the birth of her son, her daughter, and her twins and wrote a book about it which is a must read for another wondering if there is a better way to spend the first 30 days post-partum.
In the news this week; This is the sort of thing the British government should be sorting ASAP. It is not acceptable that women should see their kids go without medication because of any new rules. We shouldn't have to smuggle medication across the border like we're living in Gaza, for god's sake.
Also check out episode 91, which ties in nicely with this interview. That was an interview with Doula "Jothemomma" which is a great one to listen to.
