Sober Dating Is A Superpower! With "Drinking Games" Author, Sarah Levy
Show Notes

Today’s guest is Sarah Levy; she’s a writer in recovery and author of the new book “Drinking Games.” At the age of 28, Sarah, on paper, looked like she had it all together, a great job – and a successful life that was on track. The truth was she felt empty and alone, suffered from blackouts, and repeatedly put herself in dangerous situations. Sarah thought using alcohol helped heal her broken heart, empowered her to date, and quenched her thirst for validation. But drinking only numbed her pain and dimmed her light as she dated different kinds of men, feeling perpetually hung over and spiritually bankrupt. When she gave up alcohol, she thought her life was over. But for Sarah, her last sip was the moment when her life started. In sobriety, she fell in love, changed careers, moved across the country, got married, published a must-read book, and became the woman she is today. If you’re looking to change your relationship with alcohol, are sober curious, or want to be inspired, then this episode is for you!

Sarah Levy is the author of Drinking Games, a memoir in essays from St. Martin’s Press. Her writing has appeared in The New York Times, New York Magazine (The Cut), Glamour, Elle, Vogue, Refinery29, and Cosmopolitan, among other publications. Sarah has written articles such as “Falling In Love Without Alcohol” and “Giving Up Alcohol Made Me Date Again Like a Teenager.” Drinking Games has been named most anticipated by Good Morning America, Good Day DC, the LA Times, New York Post, Zibby Mag, Buzzfeed Books, Pure Wow, and Apple Books to name a few. And the favorable reviews keep on coming! Sarah is a graduate of Brown University and lives in Los Angeles by way of New York City.

I’m excited to feature Sarah on Shot@Love today and admire her greatly for spreading awareness around sobriety and her goals to change the culture around addiction and alcoholism. I hope you enjoy this conversation.
