In episode 117, I learned how our menstrual cycle is not a curse, but actually a superpower. And after that podcast interview, I learned the times when I can expect to be most productive and the times when I don't like people and want it to hide under my blanket every morning. I know that understanding your menstrual cycle is a huge component in being productive. So I want you to check out this clip from Renee from her presentation that is featured in Let's Get More Time starting this Thursday.

Renae:

And I was somebody who was so committed to making it work and wanting to happen that I went out and I tried to find all the solutions and find all the answers. Like, what could I do? What could I try? Could I find some time management system? Could I find some organizational system? Like, was there a program that I could use to help me increase my productivity? And what I discovered was that women are different. Women are different than men. We don't operate in this 24 hour rhythm. Every single day we have a menstrual cycle and our menstrual cycle has hormones that impact how we show up every single day. And so most of the systems that I was using, most of the things that we're talking about, consistency and habits, and just doing these same things, they worked for a period of time. They worked when I was in certain zones and certain phases of my cycle. And then when I'd get to other phases of my cycle and I'd Peter out and I wouldn't show up and I wouldn't do it. And all these things I would start to spin out inside of my head of, I'm just not good enough. Why can't I do this? Why can't you stay consistent? Why isn't this working? Why? What is it that everybody else has that you just don't? And so when I discovered how different women are, is when I really started to dig in deeper and start to lean into how I was using my menstrual cycle. Could I match up the way I was working, the way I was doing things, the things on my to do list, the way I managed my household, all of those things to match up with my cycle, and could that make a difference? So since then, What I can tell you is that I tested and tweaked and tried and did a whole host of things before I started sharing it with my clients. And when I started sharing it with my clients is when they were like, Oh my gosh, this is a game changer. Why has nobody ever taught us this before? Renee, this is what the world needs you to share. So that is what I'm here to tell you. Literally after shifting from this 24 hour rhythm to a 28 day rhythm, I get so much more done and far less time. I juggle a lot. I have a lot of things on my plate. I do a lot of things. I love a lot of things. I'm a very multi passionate person and I like to do, and I like to be out there and I like to, you know, like do all the things. I still work a couple hours a week in the NICU. I run my business. I volunteer my daughter's class. I coach soccer. I I'm shuffling my kids from all of their different sports activities. I do a lot. And yet I don't feel quite as topped out as I did before. And I feel like I'm able to get far more done now than I was ever able to get done literally just by changing when I do different things throughout the month. The thing is, is that our hormones are impacting us every single day in every part of our life. And yet most of us have never been taught that most of us have never really been taught much about our hormones. And if we did research, some is probably when we were trying to get pregnant, we were trying to figure out when we could get pregnant. And that was about the gist of what we know about our hormones. But what research is showing us today. Is that our hormones impact so much they literally change the way your face looks every single month. They change your skin's glow. It changes the saliva on your tongue, like how your saliva changes. It changes your temperature, your resting heart rate, vaginal fluid changes, how well you burn fat versus how much you build muscle, how. Much your skin is prone to acne. You're you're everything in your body is changing. Even now there's a lot more research coming out about your brain on your period and throughout these different hormones throughout the month. And so you can see here, these are just two quick snapshots from two different studies that kind of highlight like the variation of your brain throughout the month, based on where you are. In your cycle. And so when we think about this, when we think about your brain, having different activation, different blood flow, like different engagement throughout the month, it's no wonder that you focus differently. You think creatively differently at different phases of the month. It's easier to pay attention. It's easier to get stuff done. It's easier to communicate. It's easier to interact. Like all of these different parts of who we are are different. There may be some days you show up and you get down and you get your stuff done and your work done and you're super productive and you feel absolutely amazing. And then a week or two later, you're like, I can't get anything together. What is wrong with me? I'm so feeling like the world's worst mom. I'm feeling like the world's worst person. I can't handle any of this. Like why did I have it together just a few weeks ago and now I don't. And what I can tell you is that it's literally all of these hormones happening in the background.

Now, if you want to see the diagram that Renee was talking about on what our brains look like in the different phases of our cycle and learn how to make your menstrual cycle your superpower, join me this Thursday at Let's Get More Time.
