You are tuned in to The Real Happy Mom podcast. I'm Toni-Ann, and this is Holiday Voices. This is a special series where moms share quick tips and meaningful moments to help you trade chaos for calm and make this season a little more like you. So let's jump into today's voice. Hi everyone. I am Jocelyn Flore. I am the founder of Raese Parenting, where I serve cycle breaking parents. As a parent coach, I am also a child and family therapist by trade. Those are the two things where I dedicate most of my professional life. I'm located out of Arizona, but I am born and raised in California, so I am in between both states, especially now that the holidays are coming. I am back and forth. I'm also a new mom. I'm raising a five month old at the time of this recording, and I wanna share with you something that I. Am going to be modeling and preaching and practicing this holiday season. And I have been practicing since I became a parent. But more importantly, as the holidays are coming here, it is presence over presence. I'll say that again. Presence, right? Our presence, our connection, our quality time over. Presence. Material objects, material items, an abundance of toys, things like that. That is what I'm really modeling, what I'm really trying out this year, and I say trying out, because for me, I'm not gonna lie to you, I have had the privilege of having. Gifts and toys and the makeup and the clothes during the holiday seasons as I've aged throughout the years of my childhood into a, into adolescence, into adulthood, I've had that experience. However, I couldn't tell you besides what I just named so vaguely, I couldn't tell you exactly what I received and that really got me thinking. But what are the things I really remember? Of my holidays, what are the true memories that I have and the experiences that I have. And that's really it. That's what stood out to me was that in itself, the experiences, the memories of baking cookies with my mom, making tamales with my aunts and with my mom and with my sister, uh, setting out the cookies at night, uh, for. Santa Claus. However, my dad's the one eating them, all that stuff. Those are the things that I remember and I can still tap into the feelings of, wow, those are the experiences, that presence, that quality, those memories over. I don't know. I'm sure I grabbed got the latest Barbie at some point, but unfortunately don't have that now at my age. See what I'm trying to get at? I can hold those memories and that presence with my family for the rest of my life, and that is something I want to model and something I want to share with my little one. If we are gifted gifts, it's a privilege. It's a blessing. If we are able to get any this year for him, even better. If not, I know in my heart I am modeling and practicing quality time connection with my kiddo over materialistic objects, and I wanna share that with you today, that this is. The cycle, I'm breaking. This is what I'm changing, and this is what I'm modeling this year for my family and for my friends, and for my child. If you enjoyed this information that I just shared with you today, and maybe you're the cycle breaker of your family, maybe you want to parent your child with more intention and maybe show up more mindfully for your family, then I have just the thing for you.
