You are tuned in to The Real Happy Mom podcast. I'm Toni-Ann, and this is Holiday Voices. This is a special series where moms share quick tips and meaningful moments to help you trade chaos for calm and make this season a little more like you. So let's jump into today's voice. Hey, Katie Kimball here of Raising Healthy Families. I'm also the founder of the Kids Cook Real Food and Teens Cook Real Food Courses and Life Skills. Now summer camps, we are big eaters and use the kitchen hard here at the Kimball House in the greater Grand Rapids area, but we try to keep it a little more simple in December. When it comes to the holiday season, 20 years ago when my kids were babies, I used to make massive lists, tons of cookies I was going to make. The grocery lists were wacky, like every piece of our routine changed, and to reduce stress and add more joy, I've taken things much easier. In recent years. In fact, we generally only make one type of Christmas cookie. It's my favorite from childhood. It's my mom's recipe and it's really complicated, but I also don't flip out about getting it done in earlier, mid-December. We usually will tackle that after my kids are out of school, so December 21st or 22nd, and it's much more relaxed as far as timing. We don't even worry about it. Sometimes we might make'em on December 26th and we just have to say, this is. The joyful part of Christmas and why ruin it? Why taint it by making it stressed because of time? So I'm really conscious of the calendar and allowing December to be more relaxed as far as getting everything done, because really for our family, the Christmas season is the two weeks after Christmas, and so that helps a ton in just shifting some of the busyness in the home. Away from the rest of the December calendar where everything is busy outside of the home, and that definitely brings less stress and more joy to the Kimball household. That's it for this one. It is short, sweet, and straight from the heart. And if you're loving the series, make sure you follow the show or subscribe so that you don't miss what's coming next. I'll be back again tomorrow with another one of these holiday voices. Until then, take care and with thoughts of love.
