You are tuned in to The Real Happy Mom podcast. I'm Toni-Ann, and this is Holiday Voices. This is a special series where moms share quick tips and meaningful moments to help you trade chaos for calm and make this season a little more like you. So let's jump into today's voice. Hey, hey friends. This is Lori Oberbroecking from Secrets of Supermom, and I am sharing my favorite tool for keeping holiday stress in check. And that is the holiday yes list and the holiday, no list. So a few years ago I started using these and they are everything I needed to make the holidays the way that I really want. Not only the things I wanna do, but how I wanna. Feel during the holidays because I realized that we were saying yes to a lot. We were saying yes to the things that we loved and were so excited for as a family, but we were also saying yes to things that we did not love. Things that caused us lots of stress, things that felt overwhelming, and things that we felt obligated to do versus things that we really just wanted to do. So I started a holiday yes list and a holiday, no list. Things that we really wanted to do. Traditions that we loved. Things like going and doing a drive-through light show things like making cookies, things like having certain get togethers with certain friends. Those types of things would go on the holiday yes list, and then things. Also would go on the holiday. No list. Things like maybe that secret Santa event that you always get a terrible gift for and you always feel stressed out about and it's never actually that fun. Or maybe making homemade treats for the school party and every year it feels like it falls on the worst day. Or maybe making complicated crafts. Maybe you are overdoing Christmas cards and you just do not love sending those every year. So this was a way to let it go. Let all of that stress go and say what are the meaningful yeses for us, and what are the things that are just going to be a no? Because we only have so much time and we only have so much energy around the holidays. I want to spend my energy and I want my family to get to spend their energy. On the things that we love instead of the things that we loathe. And so we started this and it has been such a game changer. If you do it, I would love to hear it and I would love to hear what is on your holiday Yes. List and your holiday. No list. That's it for this one. It is short, sweet, and straight from the heart. And if you're loving the series, make sure you follow the show or subscribe so that you don't miss what's coming next. I'll be back again tomorrow with another one of these holiday voices. Until then, take care and with thoughts of love.
