Don't Do School At Home: Deschooling, Unschooling, & Nonschooling
- What is deschooling, when is it needed, and who should do it?
- What is really at the heart of unschooling and by definition, isn't anyone who homeschools an "unschooler"?
- What exactly is nonschooling? Simply put, it is not doing school at home.
Nonschooling is living out Mark Twain's description of education: "Never let schooling get in the way of your education." Don't let the terms deschooling, unschooling, nonschooling and even sabbath schooling scare you. Even if you have been homeschooling for years, it might be time for some deschooling. If you and/or your child are burnt out and stressed out, it might be a good time to unschool for a season. Whether you are a classical home educator, Charlotte Mason purist, or anything in between, it is always best to NON School.
In this episode, Carrie shares the importance of not doing school at home and the benefits and blessing of not modeling your homeschooling after the traditional classroom.
