Ep 203: Radically different fitness with Holly Kuzmiak-Ngiam
Apr 20, 2023 Episode 203
I am so thrilled to welcome Holly Kuzmiak-Ngiam to SelfKind! Holly is the owner of Movement Labs in Singapore - a radically different fitness space. In this episode, I've invited Holly to share about what makes this space so different and why it matters.

You will hear:

  • The 'midlife crisis' that saw Holly shift from a 10 year career in biochemistry to one in fitness
  • What is radical about Holly's approach to fitness
  • Holly's experiences in the 'traditional' fitness space and her decision to create her own space
  • The quest for accessibility - including accepting the limitations of that (no one truly caters for everyone, so how do we navigate and own that when we're also working to create more accessibility?)
  • What accessibility even means
  • Consent in the context of fitness - why it matters and what it looks like
  • Other elements that contribute to Movement Labs being a radical space.

About Holly:
Holly is an American by birth, a Singaporean by residency, and a science-lover by education. After obtaining a PhD in Biochemistry, she had an “early midlife crisis”, and became a movement teacher. She currently operates a brick & mortar studio that offers small group classes and personal training. She is passionate about building educational, movement-centred communities that support holistic wellness and include family, work, and fun. She is proud to run a radical fitness space in Singapore, that prioritises access, intersectionality, and weight-neutral messaging. When she’s not on the trails, leading classes or working with clients, you’ll find her in the kitchen, on the playground, or seeking out a strong cup of Kopi C (local coffee).
