Aboriginal Worldview - Sean Cahill, Anthropologist
Show Notes

How can we better understand the Aborginal people of Australia? The history of Indigenous Australians began at least 70,000 years ago when humans first populated the Australian continental landmasses. Aboriginal Australians are the various Indigenous peoples of the Australian mainland and many of its islands. Many Australian Aboriginal cultures have or traditionally had a manually coded language, a signed counterpart of their oral language.

Sean Cahill, anthropologist, completed fieldwork in central Australia, field work from 1960 - 1965. He received a National Foundation grant to study sign language of the Aborgines.  Here he shares the Aboriginal worldview, which  is seen as a circle with all things in the world being connected. In this circle are spirituality, values, knowledge, culture, oral traditions, language, governance, and natural world.
