Africa has long been beset by jihadi movements - in Somalia, Nigeria, and the Sahel. These countries have collectively suffered thousands of casualties and hundreds of millions of dollars in damages. Now it appears that there is a new wave of Islamist terrorism threatening West Africa - Benin, Togo, Cote d'Ivoire and even Ghana.
