Canada is a generous country. We have good social programmes (not good enough for some though), are generally open to immigration, and try to help out when the need arises during a tragedy or emergency somewhere in the world. This benevolence, alas, extends to throwing heaps of money - millions of dollars - to those I bet most Canadians would agree do not share our values (and some of whom may actually pose a threat to public safety and national security). Why do we do this? A chat with independent columnist Rahim Mohammed.
