Order & Progress

David Weck is a fitness innovator, biomechanist, BJJ blue belt, and a world-class performance coach to professional athletes worldwide.

His methods of the coiling core, rotational movement training, and bilateral torsion training are based on the understanding of the Spinal Engine Theory.

This theory poses that movement originates in the core. The core is what powers humans forward through space. The standing belief amongst the greater fitness industry is that the core mainly transfers force, and it’s primary function is to resist rotation.

David believes this “braced core” model is the cause of increases in non-contact sports injuries, and robs athletes of power, strength, and durability. His methods, in contrast, develop pure athletic ability, including strength, power, and longevity.

Learn about David Weck and his innovative training methods here, in the latest episode of the Order & Progress Podcast.

In this episode you will learn:

  • What is the Spinal Engine Theory
  • Why the standing “braced core” model is wrong, and may be causing the rise of non-contact injuries
  • Why it’s still important to do bilateral training like deadlifts
  • What is the coiling core, rotational movement training, and bilateral torsion training
  • How these methods will help your BJJ performance
  • How his methods reduce injuries and improves longevity
  • How to get started with the Weck Method
