A Band of Fathers

Steven had a long weekend and used the chance to visit the home of a fellow seminarian.     This reminded Dad of a concern he and Steven’s Mom had that the priesthood would be a lonely life.    Just the opposite has been shown to be true.    This is not a solitary life.    

At the start of his discernment, Steven shared these concerns as well.   He wondered if the life of priesthood would be lonely or one that brings joy.     This thought was on his mind the first time he visited a seminary.   During this visit Steven was pleasantly surprised to witness a lively atmosphere.     

A big part of seminary is learning how to integrate parts of your life and a blessing of the seminary is fraternity among the priests.

The greatest fraternity on Earth is the Catholic priesthood.   You are brothers with the priest in the parish next door and equally a brother with the priest halfway around the world.

Ultimately, one has to make it a priority to stay connected.    You have to work at it.    The same holds true for a marriage as for the priesthood.
