Muay Thai, Mindset & Moving Forward: Sophie François’ Story of Transformation
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
In this inspiring episode, I speak with Sophie François, Fundamentals and Martial Arts Coach at The Commando Temple in Deptford.
Sophie’s journey into movement began at school, where she took up sports simply to avoid subjects she didn’t enjoy…!
But what started as an escape soon became a passion.
Over the years she fell in love with Muay Thai, earned grading in kickboxing, and developed deep physical strength and confidence - qualities she now shares wholeheartedly with the people she coaches.
Before stepping into coaching, Sophie had a thriving career in fashion, designing window displays on Oxford Street. It was fast-paced, creative, and high-pressure, and eventually, the stress and burnout became too much. She made the courageous decision to walk away.
In this conversation, Sophie openly shares how she rebuilt her life through movement, martial arts, and deep self-connection. She speaks passionately about:
- The power of martial arts to build confidence and resilience
- Learning to listen to your body and wellbeing
- Burnout, recovery, and redefining success
- Why you can leave something that no longer serves you, even when it feels impossible
- How strength training and coaching have transformed her life
This is a powerful reminder that it’s never too late to choose a different path, one that honours who you truly are.
