Diving Deep with World Record Holding Free Diver Tanya Streeter 052
Feb 05, 2021 Episode 52
Casey Ruff

Tanya Streeter knows how to go deep!  In 2002, Tanya broke the world record for "no limits" free diving by going down to a depth of (think about this) 525 feet. She successfully set the record for both women and men, and to this day, still holds the record for the women's classification. But she didn't stop there. She has continued to be an advocate of the sport, and has devoted a massive amount of time and energy into the conservation of the oceans. She delivered this incredible TEDx presentation (you could hear a pin drop) in 2012, and four years later, appeared in the documentary The Plastic Ocean, which brings awareness to the problem of plastics in our oceans. She knows better than anyone how important the breath is, as she explained in this recent NPR TED Radio Hour. We are so grateful for Tanya's authenticity and vulnerability, for her mental toughness and her determination!
