Speaker 1:

Hello, happy Saturday. If you are in the United States, I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving last week. If you're Canadian, like I am, I hope you just enjoyed some time with family. And yeah, this is my third time recording this episode because my mic keeps dying, not pleased about it, but our fingers are crossed that this will be the final one. My mic has been plugged in for an hour and a half now, so we should be charged and ready to go. Let's talk about reflecting on the past year and getting ready for 2025.

Speaker 1:

In full transparency, this episode did not come together as a review of 2025. For real, I if you've been following along with my journey kind of fell off the face of the planet back in like somewhere between March and June of last year. My Instagram I stopped posting, I stopped sending out emails, I stopped sending our recording podcast and I just gave myself some time and space to go through what I was going through in life. And we bought a house and I enjoyed my summer with my family and, yeah, it was. That was just what happened. And beginning of November so about like five, six weeks ago now, there was just this energy in deep in my core. Something changed. I started recording my podcast again at the end of the summer and so I've been recording that now for like three months and but like a month and a bit ago, something just changed deep in my core and this fire was lit and, without like even trying or wanting to or doing it intentionally, I've been answering these questions and it's been helping me realign and re-envision and reignite my business, because when you take that much time off, stop putting out any sort of marketing at all, you stop really engaging with your community. Things start to kind of like fizzle off and die. There is residual effects and some residual goodness that comes in from the consistency of putting out a weekly podcast and the consistency of weekly emails and the consistency of regular social media content, and you have residual effects of that. So, but eventually it dies down and so, instead of just continuing on, to continue on with what I've always done, I've been unintentionally thinking about some things and just, yeah, re-envisioning where I want my business to go, what I want it to look like in 2025, and going forward with my current life as it is and as such, I've been answering these questions through like journaling and just processing, going on walks like not recently, there has been no walks. In the last week we got over a foot of snow and, yeah, no walks have been happening. But just yeah, through all that, processing all of the, you know what our brains do as entrepreneurs.

Speaker 1:

So I thought these might be really great questions to reflect on 2024, whether you had a really great year or a more inconsistent year like I did. It's good to reflect and just maybe one of these questions will spark something in you, if you feel like anything come from your body as I ask the questions and I'm going to talk through my answers as we go and then I'll recap them all at the end. So if anything like comes of it, as I'm going like write that question down or pause the podcast and answer it for yourself, some of them you might be like oh yeah, that's a pointless question, Doesn't mean anything to me, great, fine, but yeah. So if any of these resonate with you, take some time and journal through them, think through them. If you have less snow or more snow and you just love walking in it, go for a walk and think through it. Highly recommend.

Speaker 1:

So the first of five questions is how did I make money this year? How am I currently making money For me? That answer is my one-to-one services, my done for you Facebook ad services. That is bringing in like 95% of my revenue right now and I do really really enjoy it. But I also miss some of the old forms of revenue that I used to bring in and I just have not been recently and so thinking about, like how am I bringing in money brought that up Like I remember, oh yeah, I had that course and I really loved running, done the dreamless essentials, which was my course, and I really love strategy sessions. I used to do a lot of one-on-one strategy sessions and I really haven't done any recently. So those are some of those things I was like, oh yeah, I used to do that and I'm not really doing that anymore. Don't get me wrong, I really enjoy running Facebook ads and the strategy behind Facebook ads. I'm currently in the middle of testing a campaign, love testing campaigns, but big but I'm I miss some of those old forms. So remembering, like thinking about how you make money and remembering old forms and considering new forms, is really important to the reflection process.

Speaker 1:

Step number two is what? Or question number two that I've been thinking about is what do I really enjoy in my business right now and what do I not enjoy so much? And so I really enjoy recording this podcast, which is why it was one of the first things I brought back when I was ready to come back. And I really don't enjoy social media. I really don't enjoy it. I recognize that it's an important piece of the puzzle running an online business and growing an online brand but I don't love it. I would prefer to get rid of Instagram off of my phone, get rid of Facebook off my phone, get rid of them and not ever post and not spend time looking for content and scrolling through and recording and all of that Would prefer not to. But I recognize it's important part of the business that I'm building. So, yeah, there's that business that I'm building. So, yeah, there's that. I enjoy running Facebook ads and I enjoy the strategy behind it. I enjoy spreadsheets. I really really love making spreadsheets and creating customized solutions for tracking ads and projecting and campaign planning. So love doing that. I've always loved spreadsheets.

Speaker 1:

Question number three that I've been ruminating on is what are your, what are my priorities? What is most important to me right now? And always family, absolutely always family. And then this new house and just turning it into a home for us, making sure that we are strategically buying new things and we recently got our roof done and we had to get carpets redone as soon as we moved in, and so there's a lot of like purchases. But keeping this home running and really like turning it into a home is a huge priority right now. And then spending time with my kids, enjoying my kids, watching them grow up huge priority and so remembering those priorities and making sure that our time is aligned with the priorities and that's actually question number four is I've done a lot of considering and thinking about is my time aligned with my priorities or is there a misalignment?

Speaker 1:

And I honestly have to say that sometimes there's a misalignment. Sometimes my business takes priority over my family and I don't want that to happen. I want to make sure that my family comes first and that I am able to spend the time with them and watch them grow up. There's days, like today, where I record a 15-minute podcast three times Normally it's just once and my kids are playing downstairs you might be able to hear them in the background. I think they're playing tag now. They were building with lego. They sound like they're having a great time, but I want to be down there with them. So there's a bit of a misalignment. But I also recognize that it's important to put this podcast out and I love putting this podcast out, and so trying to balance the time and my priorities is kind of challenging right now in the season that I'm in.

Speaker 1:

And then question number six is six. There's only five. Question number five is what changes are needed to ensure the alignment, that there's alignment and growth in that order. Pausing before I answer and chat about it. When I was typing this out in the google doc it actually tried to predict that I was going to say alignment and gorgeous results. I kind of love that I did stick with it and keep alignment and growth, but I was like I'm going to put down here a note that it wanted me to say alignment and gorgeous results. So let's go with alignment, growth and gorgeous results. But are there any changes that need to happen? And this is where, like my whole month of November, just so much like spinning of my brain, yes, for me, changes need to happen so that I am in alignment.

Speaker 1:

I really want to bring back some of those revenue generating like revenue generators that I had in the past. I want to bring back the strategy session so I can have meaningful conversations with entrepreneurs and I can really feel like I'm having that impact one-on-one helping people get their ads up and running. So I'm really excited about that and putting that into place for the new year and really getting some strategy sessions booked. And then the other piece of the puzzle is the course. I loved running the course. I ran it as a hybrid program where there was a DIY course and live coaching sessions.

Speaker 1:

Trying to rework that for my current priorities I don't think it'll fit as well as it did previously, but really want to just like grow that part of my business. And one thing I am proud of is that I currently have fewer clients on my roster than I think I've ever had before, and that's been intentional. I have intentionally not been necessarily seeking out new clients to replace ones as they leave at the same rate as I used to. I have decided to have more meaningful, more impactful relationships with my clients and have fewer clients that I'm working with, and that has allowed me to have a bit more time freedom, and so I've really, really enjoyed that piece of the puzzle and really given myself the ability to be more aligned in how I'm spending my time and ensuring that it does align with my priorities. I think going into 2025, there's going to be a little bit more of that of just making sure that I'm working with the right clients. I mean the current clients I have I absolutely adore so but making sure that new clients, if they come through this the doors, are the right clients and that they are the ones that I want to be working with and I'm excited to work with.

Speaker 1:

So, yeah, these are my questions. I'm going to recap the five questions. These are some of the processes that you'll spend some time journaling them, going through them, reflecting on your business and how you're spending your time, energy and yeah. So the five questions are how are you currently making money or how did you make money in 2024?

Speaker 1:

Question number two is what are you enjoying or not enjoying currently or throughout the year? Number three is what are my current priorities? What is most important to me? And be brutally honest here, I think sometimes we lie to ourself a little bit and we don't necessarily really get nitty gritty with what are the important things. So, what are your priorities? Number four is there alignment or misalignment between my time and my priorities. And then number five what changes are needed to ensure not only alignment but growth, and in that order alignment first and growth second, because we don't want to be growing if we're misaligned and we're like hating every single moment again. I hope this was hopeful and I'll be back next saturday with a brand new saturday strategy session for you.
