Self Compassion is defined as extending compassion to oneself in instances of perceived inadequacy, failure, or general suffering. It includes accepting our humanity, practicing self kindness and being mindful of our needs.

Join Therapist, Jessie Larimer, and our director, April Bordeau, as they discuss self compassion needed in when things don't turn out the way we'd hoped they would as parents. 

What is helpful for parents in this place?
1. Understanding of the influence of brain trauma .
2. Validate that your parenting experience is hard and different.
3. Find your tribe- fight isolation.
4. Embrace "good enough parenting."
5.  Pay attention to your own emotional regulation.
6. Pay attention to where shame is creeping up.
7. Make room for grief.
8. Accept that you are not responsible for everyone around you being okay.
