On this week's episode of Finding Her, Julia opens with the book by Wallce J. Nichols who wrote the Blue Mind. In the book Blue Mind, Wallace shares scientific research, studies, personal stories from people that have experienced " The Blue Mind". He shares the surprising science that shows how being near, in, out, or underwater can make you happier, healthier, more connected and better at what you do. This is a must read. The Finding Her community knows that Julia uses water as a coping skill and that it is important for all humans to be connected to themselves and continue to grow in personal development to understand who you really are. A coping skill is a way that you choose to respond to your feelings and emotions tied to feelings of stress, anger, anxiety, and a variety of other emotions. There are unhealthy and healthy coping skills .A healthy coping skill is a way of coping that helps you feel better while not leading to a negative consequence.Healthy examples:                Using positive self talkPhoning or talking to a friendListening to musicResolving a problemVolunteeringWalking/ exerciseDeep breathingAn unhealthy coping skill may help you feel better during, but it usually will lead to consequences and can be harmful for yourself and others. Continual use of unhealthy coping skills can lead to unhealthy relationships with others.Unhealthy examples:Name calling/ shamingShutting downBeing passive aggressivePretending not to careEmotional eatingReckless behaviorsAvoiding the problemJulia shares her list of healthy and unhealthy coping skills and uses a metaphor about waterfalls to share her experience with surrendering to water. "To me waterfalls feels like our emotions and feelings. Feelings of good, bad, happy, and sad......""To contain a waterfall is to close ourselves off from growing into who we are meant to be.""Every-time I hear the word waterfalls, I think of the song by the group TLC. I remember when Left Eye died...." Follow Julia on IG @ juliambusbyEmail: Julia@juliabusby.comPlease allow time for responses, as it takes sometime to respond to emails from the community!--- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/findingher/messageSupport this podcast: https://anchor.fm/findingher/support
