Compassion In Crisis: Processing Tragedy

Kristine Erickson, Ph.D., Charlotte Safos, and Kelsey Taylor Williams

This past week, the tragic shooting at Robb Elementary School in Texas has left many of us feeling helpless, hopeless, and angry. The empathy we feel for those involved can become overwhelming. A great way to deal with these feelings is to take some form of compassionate action. Kelsey discusses the aftermath from an elementary teacher's perspective, with some suggestions for what people can do; and then we talk about other forms of compassionate action that can both help the larger community and help put feelings we have around this tragedy to constructive use.
