Have you ever felt like no matter how much effort you put into healing, the supplements, the protocols, the diets, your body just doesn't seem to get the memo? You're doing everything right, but your symptoms stay. Or they shift for a while only to come right back. Here's the truth that most people miss. Your body isn't listening to your conscious mind. It's following your subconscious programming, the deep automatic patterns running behind the scenes. And until you understand how your subconscious actually works, your healing efforts will feel like pushing a boulder uphill. Exhausting, frustrating, and never-ending. But when you understand the subconscious, everything changes. In this episode, I'm breaking down the five most important things you need to know about your subconscious if you want to finally heal. We're talking practical, real-life examples, not theory. You'll walk away knowing exactly why your body is stuck and what has to shift to change that. Here's what we'll cover today: why your subconscious holds the real key to whether your body stays stuck or heals. How symptoms are actually a reflection of outdated subconscious patterns, not random malfunctions. And the five biggest truths about your subconscious that most people never learn, and how to finally use them to support your healing. Welcome back to the Rebellious Healer, where we ditch the fear, decode the symptoms, and take healing into our own hands. I'm Jenny Peterson, a former holistic practitioner, turn symptom-free mind-body rebel. I'm here to help you break free from rules, restrictions, and outdated healing advice so you can finally live symptom-free and empowered. So let's get into it. Before we dive into the list, you need to understand one simple thing. Your subconscious is the operating system of your life. I want you to think of it like the software running quietly in the background of your computer or phone. It controls everything, your biology, your reactions, your beliefs, often without you even knowing it. But most people never update that software. They keep installing new apps, supplements, detoxes, protocols, on top of an outdated, glitchy system. And then they wonder why nothing works. The real reason your body is stuck? The operating system, your subconscious, is still programmed for survival, not healing. So here are the five things you need to know about your subconscious to finally shift that. Number one is your subconscious runs the body, not your conscious mind. You can want to heal all day long. You can believe consciously that your body should be getting better. But if your subconscious isn't on board, your body won't follow. Here's the science. Your conscious mind, your logic, your reasoning controls only about 5% of your daily functioning. The other 95%, that's your subconscious. And your subconscious is running the show when it comes to your body, your nervous system, your stress response, your digestion, your hormones, everything. I want you to think about when you learned to drive a car. At first, it took conscious effort, checking mirrors, shifting gears, watching your speed, but over time it became automatic. That's your subconscious taking over. Your body operates the same exact way. It's running patterns you practiced and absorbed, often since childhood, on autopilot. For me, I was living in constant survival mode without even realizing it. My subconscious was still running old patterns of fear and hypervigilance, even though consciously I believed I should be healing. My body wasn't broken, it was following orders from my subconscious. If you want your body to heal, you have to change the orders, not just the surface level actions. Number two, your subconscious responds to perception, not facts. Your subconscious doesn't give a shit about the facts. It cares about the meaning you give to your experiences. Here's what that looks like. Two people experience the same event. Maybe their parent criticizes them. One person's subconscious forms the belief, I'm not good enough, which triggers patterns like people pleasing, overthinking, heightened stress, and eventually chronic physical symptoms. The other person's subconscious interprets it differently. They don't take it personally. They understand that their parents' reaction is more about their parents' own beliefs than about them. So it's not the event that wires your subconscious, it's the perception you attach to it. And that perception sends a message to your brain and body. If the perception feels safe, there's nothing for the body to do. If the perception feels unsafe, the body adapts purely out of survival. Where do those perceptions come from? They come from old subconscious programming, the patterns, beliefs, and meanings your brain has stored long ago, often into childhood. Think of your programming like the glasses you wear to view the world. If those glasses are scratched, tinted, or distorted, every experience gets filtered through that lens. You might not even realize the lens is there, but your subconscious is constantly using it to decide what feels safe and what doesn't. If your programming is built on fear, self-doubt, or hypervigilance, even safe situations feel threatening. Your body adapts, symptoms show up. It's not logical, it's biological. Your subconscious doesn't operate on facts. It operates on the familiar stories it's been running for years. And when you change the programming, when you clean the lens, your subconscious sees the world differently, and your body finally gets permission to heal. Number three, symptoms are messages from the subconscious, not random events. Let's debunk the idea that your symptoms just happen or are completely random. They're not. Chronic symptoms are messages, signals from your subconscious that something is out of alignment. Like when I had heart palpitations, digestive issues, rosacea, panic attacks, all of my symptoms. I used to think my body was malfunctioning, but once I understood the subconscious, I really saw the truth. My body wasn't broken. It was trying to speak to me through symptoms, trying to tell me that my old subconscious patterns were still running the show and they were no longer working for me. And this applies to you too. That recurring symptom, that chronic symptom that you have, it's a biological response to unresolved subconscious patterns, patterns of overwhelm, unworthiness, or fear that keep your body stuck in survival mode. Think of your symptoms like a check engine light. The light isn't the problem, it's pointing to what's happening under the hood. Cover the light, ignore it, or try to manage it with another protocol, and the root issue stays. The only way to truly resolve symptoms is to understand and shift the subconscious patterns that is driving them. Number four, repetition is what rewires the subconscious, not one-time insights. Here's a huge mistake people make. They have an aha moment. They feel motivated. They tell themselves new affirmations for a few days, and then they wonder why their body hasn't changed. Your subconscious doesn't rewire through temporary action. It rewires through repetition, consistent daily practice that teaches your system a new normal. You have to remember you have unconsciously wired yourself for years through daily repetition. Now you have to consciously, consistently rewire new patterns that send messages of safety to the body. So what does that look like? For my students, it means they do daily mindset work that targets their specific patterns that are keeping them stuck. Practicing actions that support their new beliefs every single day, not just when it feels convenient or not just saying the words and reading it on paper. Taking action brings it together and is really important for that rewiring process. The action is where the body is going to start to feel safe in connection to what you're telling it in the mind. And showing up consistently to teach the subconscious that safety is the new default. Let's compare it to fitness. You wouldn't expect to get strong or lose weight from one workout. It's daily repeated action that reshapes your body. And the subconscious works the same exact way. You're not broken because you haven't healed yet. You're just missing the repetition your subconscious needs to feel safe enough to shift. Number five, what you focus on is what you keep finding, even if it's what you don't want. Here's what most people don't realize about their subconscious. It's always looking for evidence to support your focus. Even if that focus is fear, doubt, or worrying, you won't get better. The subconscious isn't judging what's helpful or harmful, it's simply filtering your reality to match what you repeatedly focus on. Because to your subconscious, familiar equals safe. So here's how that plays out. If you focus on worrying that you won't heal, your subconscious starts scanning for proof that you're not healing. If you focus on every little symptom, your subconscious hones in on every sensation, fueling hypervigilance. If you focus on fear, your subconscious prioritizes keeping you locked in survival mode. It becomes a vicious cycle. Because the more you focus on what you don't want, the more your subconscious looks for evidence to prove that story to be true. And the result, you attract exactly what you don't want. Not because your body is broken, but because your focus is reinforcing the patterns, keeping you stuck. So here's an example. Have you ever been convinced that your body has failed you or that it's falling apart, only to suddenly notice new symptoms just a few days later? That's your subconscious filtering your reality to match the belief you've been fueling. But the opposite is also true. When you shift your focus toward what's going right, even in small ways, your subconscious starts filtering for new evidence of safety, trust, and possibility. Here's the bottom line: where your focus goes, your subconscious follows. Where your subconscious follows, your body responds. If you want to change the pattern, you have to change your focus, even when it feels unfamiliar at first. Alright, so let's bring this full circle. If you want to finally heal, these are the five truths about your subconscious you have to understand. Number one, your subconscious runs the body, not your conscious mind. Your body follows deep automatic patterns, not temporary willpower. Until your subconscious patterns change, your body stays stuck. Number two, your subconscious responds to perception, not facts. It's not the events in your life that shape your reality. It's the meaning your subconscious attached to them, often from childhood. Those meanings create your beliefs, your stress patterns, and your symptoms. Number three, symptoms are messages from your subconscious, not random malfunctions. Your body speaks through symptoms, signaling where old subconscious patterns are keeping you stuck. Understanding the message is how real healing starts. Number four, repetition is what rewires the subconscious, not one-time insights. Your subconscious learns through daily consistent action. One breakthrough moment doesn't stick. It's what you practice repeatedly that rewires your patterns and creates lasting change. And number five, what you focus on is what you keep finding, even if it's not what you want. Your subconscious is always looking for evidence to support your focus. If you stay focused on fear, symptoms, and doubt, you attract more of the same. Shift your focus even in small ways, and your subconscious starts filtering for new evidence that supports healing and safety. Your body isn't broken. It's not the Epstein Barr virus causing your symptoms. You don't need to sweat out more toxins and a sauna. You don't need to drop thousands on a Dr. Joe dispenser retreat hoping it magically fixes everything, or fall for other overcomplicated, exhausting, fear-driven solutions you've been told is the answer. Your body is following the patterns your subconscious is running. And those patterns, they can be changed. When you understand how your subconscious works, when you stop fearing your symptoms and start shifting the patterns driving them, your body finally follows your lead. Remember, your subconscious is running the show. Change the pattern, and your body has no choice but to follow. Thanks for listening. I'll see you in the next episode.
